  1. Yeah, I'd bet for 1200 you could get a 4 mil crank and porting to match, as well as cut domes...damn near. That's a little steep for my opinion...
  2. Factor in Jeff's wait time, Kevin's wait time....and local drop off vs. shipping. In a perfect world, the three builder's bikes could line up next to each other...that just doesn't happen. I can tell you with 100% certainty Kevin and Jeff are both very fairly priced. They are in the middle. By no means the cheapest or most expensive.... Both pretty good guys to talk to, I might add...
  3. Once you seal it back up...let it sit for a good 1/2 to one hour. Start the bike, and spray some carb cleaner around the boots. If the engine misses RPMs or dies down, it's not sealed... Hate to see you make a trip and be stuck at the trailer.
  4. Perfect timing....check this out. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry899008
  5. If the leak is at the gasket surface, RTV will do fine. Yamabond isn't a great idea rubber on metal. If the boot itself has a hole or is leaking, get new ones... You can get them from BOSS or from sudco.com or carbparts.com. They are Mikuni Carb Flange boots.
  6. I do... LOL
  7. He said his new business is keeping him very busy and it just sits. It sure as hell looks like it just sits...hell, I was surprised it had a ride on it. Nice guy....clean bike!!
  8. You will be accelerating faster, you will get to the lower top speed faster. If you don't mind going through gears quickly, than that's the right idea for you. A plug chop isn't only for drag racers, it's for EVERYONE, and the correct way to check the main jets. Your jetting could be spot on dialed in...but it can take time to color the plug. The 2mm smoke ring can be seen after a motor is warmed up on old plugs and then taken for a WOT run properly, then pulled. It sounds like you're rich...but if you're happy with how the bike runs, the worst thing you're gonna do is foul a plug...
  9. What...flotek start copying 370 work? Go back to your site.... Give it up Speedy...that horse is dead and you're not gonna gain anything by TRYING to shit in my backyard son.... I'm going to play devils advocate here, so hear me out. How many of our members would have heard of Jeff @ FAST, Kevin @ HJR or Jim @ Passion if it wasn't for HQ? Answer...95%. If not more.... Cause where were they? Small shops...with little or no exposure like they got on HQ. Does that make them any more or less? No. I certainly do not advocate the cheapest port job. But there are dozens of local builders you may or may not have heard of that will do fine work on your cylinders. Are these guys top of the food chain like A&S, K&T, RDZ, Packard? No. Do they win races locally....yep, sure they do. What we all have to realize is this.... Do you need a top builder who has records at the track to do your motor if you just want a little more power to have fun with at your locale? No. Unless you are competitively racing sand, pavement, TT, etc., you don't need a top builder in my opinion. I guess my point is this.... If you want to find out who the favorite builder is of each and every person on the forum, ask the question of who is the best builder. (Or better yet, use the search function....) But there are tonz of other shops out there that do fine work that many haven't heard of. Don't discredit them because they're not "HQ Approved"...but cheaper is not better. I can certainly appreciate what Loco is saying...all I'm saying is make the phone calls and weigh your options. Porting a motor is not rocket science. Math AND experience is involved....plenty out there have both. My motor/bike is a proven reliable and good running combo. Not the fastest, but it holds it's own for what it is. It will be in a not so well known shop in the next few months. And I am confident I will be very pleased with the results... The right builder will ask questions and actually listen to your answers, rather than just keep talkin himself and his work up. Gregrob, gay as he is...has some good points. (J/K) Call around, see what works...at the very least, see what is running at your locale...make the choice.
  10. Plugs don't lie, if you're doing the chop right. Gearing the bike to do 60 MPH will have you shifting gears more quickly....that's all I'm saying. Yes...when it's in the lower RPMs, you can blip the throttle to get it back on the pipe. But then you'll have to shift to the next gear more quickly too....
  11. 380 mains on those mods? I'd love to see your plug chop...that's huge. With your setup...I'd say 9500 to 10K, give or take. I'd setup the bike to have a linear power spread, shortening up the gearing won't do that...as much as you're looking to. Or just stay in the lower 4 gears.
  12. That depends on several factors. Carbs, intakes, porting, exhaust pipe, ignition...just to name a few.
  13. That's like Tits on a nun or whipped cream on horse shit...
  14. Tires, especially low pressure tires like we run, tend to grow at higher speeds... If you lower the gearing, it won't change the motor at all, rather you'll go through gears faster and have to shift more often... For trails, a bump in compression and timing helps bottom to mid...
  15. If the jetting is far off, it will be very difficult to start... I would start by checking compression. Worn motors are notorious hard starters when cold but much easier once warmed up...
  16. From the picture you posted, it's stock carbs, stock cylinders and a Hemi head with VForce 2 reeds and reed spacers.... That's not a Cheetah or Cub by a longshot....
  17. I don't know if this guy is a member here or not. This is one of the most beautiful, attention to detail bikes I've ever seen.. Truly one of a kind... I wrote the guy on Ebay good luck, too bad economy/times are tough, this bike is immaculate! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sid=p2759.l1259
  18. They're our team, like it or not. OF course I'm flat out sickened....but they're still our team. I'm a HUGE Michigan Wolverine fan...and...they didn't exactly do very well this year. It was a tough pill to swallow.... At least we have the Pistons and Wings.....
  19. If you're not first...you're last... LOL.
  20. Chrome arm with billet carrier and brake plate for 400 bucks??? I can't get one that cheap once you add in the chrome...that's a steal.
  21. I knew that single carb was holding my spree back.... IC... How can you have a 421 Cheetah with a boost bottle and reed spacers...?? That's like wiping your ass before you shit, it don't make sense...
  22. I've seen that before...someone has WAY too much time on their hands.... Damn funny though!!
  23. Nukka please.... At least the Eagles have won a game this year....make that a few. Hello, Lions...O for what???? LOL.
  24. If you have to ask, your domes aren't that old. Vaseline works, grease....I use a dab of RTV and roll the Orings through my fingers to get 'em to stick...
  25. They are for older style domes....pitch 'em. Newer NOSS and pro-design domes don't need them.
