I'll take the lid off and take it for a spin... I am storing it at work right now so it may be a few days until I can try it out. Also.. when I stay it doesnt start with choke... it starts.. sputters and dies. I am currently storing it at my work, so I will try and pull it out of there this weekend and tinker with it.

Just some more info incase it helps.. i will try the snorkle removal thingy. I am running 24:1 right now... justed wanted to have a little extra oil for the first tank. Also... when starting it.... it will not start cold with any choke.... the choke must be closed for it to start and run... does that help at all?
-
Well, it rev's perfectly when its not in gear. Once in gear it bogs like a son-of-a-bitch and I have to manipulate the clutch so it doesnt die. Maybe my takeoff needs some work. Should I mess with the air screws?
-
Thats probably just it.. takes some getting used to... i am used to being able to rev up just a little... let out the clutch and be able to start slow but still have throttle response to take off like the wind when i wish.... ill just have to tame the beast.... BTW... had to change my shorts after I hit the powerband for the first time.

Idle'd her for 3 separete 10min intervals with a 20 min cool down between each one.... then i took her out on a easy maiden voyage.. not even 2/3 throttle and each ride lasted about 1 min.... what I did notice was that it bogged down.. I would get her rolling and she just wouldn't go! So i would have to almost pin the thing... let the clutch out and she would start moving... the to get her to accelerate i would have to give it about 2/3 throttle and it would jump up to warp speed but it wouldnt do that under normal throttle movements.... is this normal? This is a brand new, stock banshee. Could the jetting be wrong? I am at sea level. Also.. it sounds like the rear brake is rubbing when i push it.

Nah... Tundra and I love it.

Thanks for the help.. I will be riding mostly in the dirt and a little in the sand... so foam filter is the one to get? not the K&N?
-
Could someone point me to the exact product to purchase? I'd like to get this stuff ordered today, but dont want to get the wrong thing.

http://www.rockymountainatv.com/Machine_De...ar=2002&status= is this what you are talking about? Does that mean no more airbox?
-
Well.. i went into it not knowing how much room they had to work with... he told me 5999 originally..... but... i did notice that ads in the trader for stock '03 shees what were used were going for $4500 so i felt it wasnt too shabby of a deal
-
Yeah i suppose.. but what would be the point... I save $$$ and get the same thing right?
-
and to the it out? just get a running start.. grab it and yank like a son-of-a-bitch so it plops nicely on the ground? or do the reverse of what you said?
-
Now here is a real stupid one for you all... I am used to dirt bikes... and getting them in/out of the truck bed by myself was a fairly simple task (even without a ramp)... how the hell do i get a banshee in and out of the bed by myself?
-
Ok.. now that I have a new stock bike the first thing I want to do is replace the air filter before taking it on its first trip....now...... I hear eveyone talking about the Pro-Filter Adapter with K&N Filter.... does this mod require jetting? Also... how does the kit work and what specific air filter do i need to get in conjunction? Any help would be great since this is my first ATV. Thanks!

Well... I am not sure.. but they had some 03's too.. this place was huge i went to. I had to go up into their storage warehouse to pick out my bike and they must have had 500+ quads up their... all new. It also took 3 phones calls down there with 3 different sales people until i finally found one that would admit they had it.. the others simply said "Why dont you come down and get and '05.. they are much better".... and I knew the banshee has remained virtually untouched since they came about.. so i knew this was bs. Kind of made me wonder though... i will take some shots in the morning when its lighter out.. but the bike does look brand spankin new.

Kind of dark but here it is:
-
They said green.

Thats what I was thinking too... but... for some reason.. even used stock ones are freaking expensive around here! Of well... hell.. at least I got something fun to ride now... and i am not too concerned over what i paid. I got all the gear i needed at 20% off and that saved me an additional $300 right there... so... lets all enjoy this moment.
-
Well...i was lookin in the ATV trader and it looked like used '02s and '03s were going for $4500... so $5K for a new one didnt seem bad.
-
well.. kinda... 1000 less than MSRP & 20% off any gear i purchased.
-
I know this might sound odd... but I just purchased a brand spanking new 2002 Banshee from my local dealership here. I am picking it up in an hour and will have some pictures shortly.. yahoo!
-
I think I will go see what kind of deal they are going to offer me.... I know the new models go for 6100 MSRP.. so if they could give me a new 03 or somethin for 5K i would be happy.
-
Well.. now that I am thinking about it more and more.. is it a bad idea to buy new? I know they drop a shitload of value as you pull away from the lot.. but I was talking to the dealer and they were saying they would work me a nice deal on a new 2003 they want to clear out... bad idea? yes/no?

http://adcache.atvtraderonline.com/16/0/1/77833901.htm here is another option.. but its not stock.
-
Thanks for the input. I have 6K burning a hole in my pocket right now and I am trying to rush into getting a used banshee... however I am trying to find one stock and fairly new so I can have the joy of modding the hell out of it and knowing what kind of condition it is. However I am new to the ATV scene so its hard for me to do this. I just dont want a bad deal is all.
