Is 1/2-13 a common bolt size? I had to put in a helicoil in place of my oil drain plug and I f'd up on the size. I now have a wonderful 1/2-13 oil hole with a 1/2-20 drain plug..... I was thinking if I could find a 1/2-13 bolt I could cut it to size.

Howdy All, Long time no see..... Anyways I had a bad blow up last November and am just now getting to fixing the shee. I have a few questions. 1. I have a ricky stator HO 200W Stator.. I have gone through a few of these. Last one I had the screws that hold it to the timing plate sheered off. Now sure why or how but I bought another one. Now this new one that was probably only used for 10hrs or so seems to have some issues. The lock washers that act almost like spacers between the stator and timing plate seem to have flattened thus providing the stator with a 1/2 mm or so of play.. anyone else seen this? This may be a trend that could have cause my last stator to self destruct. 2. The flywheel took a ton of work to come off, and in the end ended up in the dumpster. I had to use a ton of heat to get it off. Any way to see if the heating damaged the stator? 3. Crank. Main reason I split the cases is because I totally grenade'd a set of pistons. Sure enough when I pulled the crank the bottom of the crankcase is full of metal. The outside crank bearings have shavings in them as well.. I am assuming the inside ones do too. Any suggestions on cleaning? 4. Oil Drain Plug. This thing has been stripped out so many times. I think I am on the largest size drain plug available. Anyone know what the largest size I can tap up to is? Helicoils and good for this? 5. Pipes. What caused this blow up is the exhaust pipes were rubbing against the head (even though I spaced them out). The left pipe somehow rubbed a hole in the head as well as in the pipe. Jim @ Passion send the head to NOSS and they repaired it. My question is can I just have the hole welded shut? 6. Last one... my clymers manual is being stored very securely in my toyhauler. My toyhauler is about 45min away and I am not looking forward to driving up there for that. Anyone have a lead on a pdf version? Thanks in Advance.

I know this is a double post, but I wanted to start a new thread. I will be out @ Glamis Sat 27th - Mon 29th. Hit me up if you want to circle up. I will be camped out behind Crazy Kevins in the sand. I will gladly tow anyone out that wants to camp. Just gonna be me and my lady.
-
Ill be out this weekend. Leaving SD tomorrow the 6th around 4pm, I camp in the dunes behind sweet maries
-
I will be there Oct 6-9th & 27th - 29th.. I camp out in the dunes behind Crazy Kevin's off Gecko. However I may be down at Gordons for the weekend before Halloween, but that really depends if I one of my groups heads to Glamis. I have a large group of friends camping at the washes, but screw that nonsense. Hit me up if you are going to be at Glamis or Gordons. I am looking for a pre-halloween weekend group.
-
Oh he got it fixed all right.
-
Yeah we might all end up at Glamis as well... Its going to be a zoo wherever we end up since we wont be heading out until Thursday night, I have a couple places at gordons in mind that wont be too busy and if all else fails I may end up hitting up the camp in the dunes (Wallrat's Secret Spot @ Glamis) to find a spot for all our rigs.
-
Who all is headed down to the dunes this T-Day? Our group is leaving Thanksgiving night for the weekend, just wanted to see if any other HQ'ers would be going out that weekend?

Yeah, I am going to see what happens. Im going to do what JKJK said, and if all looks good then I will run it, if it happens again then I will call up Ricky Stator and see if I can get a replacement flywheel from them for free.. I paid for the replacment stator this time around because I wasnt sure what caused it. Jbooker82, mine did the same thing... when it first happened I thought my motor locked up, first my lights went out and would flicker on from time to time, but motor still ran strong. Next day it ran for a few hours but didnt have much of any top end power, then after a few hours of riding it completly crapped out on me. At least I still got some riding in on that trip.

Wierd issue for me, last desert trip out my stator went out on me. Got home, pulled the flywheel and the stator was literally in pieces. Upon inspection it appears that the screws holding the flywheel to the timing plate sheared off (2 out of 3 did), and i assume after that happend the stator was free to move and came in contact with the flywheel. Ok I scratched my head and said it must be a fluke, so called up Ricky Stator and got yet another new 200W Stator from them (this is #2). Installed it with a new timing plate from them put the flywheel back on and spun it by hand. Now while spinning it by hand it sounds like in one spot it is rubbing on something, its a very faint rubbing sound but it definitly sounds like its rubbing at some point on the stator.. im going to fire the bike up let it run for a few min and then pull the flywheel again and check out the stator. Question is... anybody ever heard of a flywheel rubbing on the stator? Has anyone had a stator break loose like mine did? Im not talking about screws backing out, im talking about the screwed being ripped out. The flywheel is new (2 trips on it, its a Ricky Stator HO Flywheel) and the stator and timing plate the blew up was brand new as well direct from Ricky Stator. Any input would be great as this is puzzling me.

Yup.. i think i'm going to try 1 more puller before I get drastic.... i have a important trip next weekend that I cannot miss out on.
-
Hi Everyone, Somehow the threads on my newer Ricky Stator Flywheel got messed up and I need to remove the flywheel because my stator somehow broke into a million pieces and I need to get to it. I went out and bought a new puller today (the motion pro one, thinking my old one was stripped) and still it will not thread onto the flywheel... I am hesitant about using the jaw type because I know it will destroy my flywheel... any ideas on getting this sucker off without using the standard screwon puller? I cleaned the threads on the flywheel and puller, still no joy I have removed flywheels on banshees for a long time using the screwon puller so its not that I dont know how to use it.

Yes you will. $25 for the weekend or $90 for the year. On a side note I will be down at Gordons Well for the weekend, all are welcome to camp with us or just stop by for a cold one.

Awesome! Your bike was ripping on the sandstars cant wait to see what it will do on the Haulers. Now you have me worried.. better get my gearing straight cause its gonna be a close race. My next trip is Halloween as well.. ill hit you up as we get closer maybe our groups can camp together that weekend.

I have the Rhino 130... good GPS, no color screen the color Rhino models are a rip off IMO.... pretty tough... the 2-way radio that it comes with is kinda a joke but sorta works.... only issue I had was the handlebar mount that I purchased from garmin sucked pretty good... I lost my first 130 because the bar mount was a POS. Now I just clip it to my camel back and it works good... its a little spendy but has a ton of features.

I have the tech 6's and they cost less than the tech 8's but im my mind are awesome boots. 2 seasons of pure abuse and they still are in great shape.... all boots are gonna be a pain in the ass to walk & shift in for the first trip or so.... but once you get them broken in you will forget your even wearing them... i'd save the $$$ and get the tech 6's if your gonna go with Alpinestar.
-
I hope to make it.. ill probably go out by myself I should know for sure in the next couple of days. Was out last weekend and had a blast... got up at 5:30am went for a ride.. came back.. refueled.. went back out.. came back.. ate breakfast... chilled for a min... then headed over to the river (under the freeway).. got drunk... came back to camp.. sobered up... rode 1 1/2 before sundown and crashed... did that for 4 days and had a great time.... Like i said ill know for sure in a few days there is a slight chance i will be working that weekend.
-
Are you going for sure? How many are going to be going out with you or are you just going solo? When are you leaving on that Friday? I just got back last weekend but definitly am down for another trip just trying to get the logistics worked out.
-
Hmmmmm.... sounds tempting.... hmmm.. let me dwell on that one ... may give me another chance to get the toybox out there and make sure everything is 100% before the season starts.
-
Glad you guys had a good time, wish I could have stayed a bit longer but the heat got the best of me. Hope you guys found the river spot! Anytime your looking for a group let me know I am pretty much down to dune whenever. Next trip is Halloween... but I am trying to get the guys to go out before then too. Also.. check the images forum I already have a labor day picture topic going. Once you figure out how to post pics then post them all up in there. PS... next time bring your can opener and drill bits... the canned food and drill dont work with out them.... LOL

well.. were out here at gordons, got here last night, lots of flys at night but its not all that hot. Last night's lows were in 70's and when we got here at 6pm it was around 98.... so its not too hot at all. Current weather: Clear skys, 100F, slight breeze, canal temp is just perfect!
-
How hot? Daytime high is supposed to be 106-108.. which isnt all the bad... but during the peak of the afternoon we most likley wont be riding we will be sitting in the canal or river throwing back a few.... if this is your first time coming out I think you will have a good time we can show you the ropes. Well.. if you come to gordons and you get stuck i can give you a tow... its not too bad at gordons. I wouldnt worry about green vs red sticker.. like bansh said as long as you dont do something stupid they shouldnt check you. ***THESE ARE DIRECTIONS TO GORDONS NOT GLAMIS. As for directions.. depends on where in phoenix you live.. the easiest way would be to take the 10 West to the 85 South towards Gila Bend... then hop on the 8 West all the way there and exit Gordons Well Rd.... then turn right... what time and day would you plan on leaving? once you get off the freeway depending on the day i could meet you and guide you in.
-
Yeah let me know if your coming.. during the afternoon you will find us under the same bridge trying to escape the heat.
-
Thanks! Actually pulls it great being that when loaded im almost at GCVW, though i still can feel it back there it towed like a dream. Now just need some tow mirrors and I am all set.
