the 450 is a nice bike but its no banshee..once you get used to the comfort af the banshee the 450 feels wrong...i didnt like the seating on it you seem to be half way over the bars before you even start the bike
-
i used to ride one of those little things as a kid and i seem to remember it used to feel like a power surge once in a while,,im not positive but i think it was the pipe causing it to do this..i do know the pipe would get clogged for some reason and it had to be taken off and cleaned out but like i said it was a long time ago so im not 100% sure thats right...i also had problems with the fuel lines on that bike..it wouldnt get air into the tank and would cut in and out too

only ponds i know about are bass ponds

ok i got 1 banshee that just got a set of tomey t6's jets tors removal boysen reeds. that one is an 02..the other is an 04 and its getting everything the 02 has, only differance is the pipes are going to be fmf fattys and im going to re gear the 2004 shee with a 15/40 gearing..what one should i expect to be faster..and by how much?? its my understanding that toomey is a top end pipe and fmf is a better all around low mid and top pipe..is that correct??
-
the stupid toomey instruction kit told me i needed to put the new breather holes in the air box right where the coolant bottle is..i later found out after doing that that its not needed..so now im stuck with the bottle in the front
-
im putting fmf fattys with power core 2's jetting and different gearing but i need to know if cool heads and different domes will be worth my money..i ride mostly sand dunes but im starting to do desert racing too..im riding the california desert and most of the area is at sea level or lower..what dome sizes would be the best? and will the reliability be affected by changing the head and domes?

the 450 shocks fit but its not worth the hell you will go through to make them fit..i had the same idea so i took the idea to precision concepts and they straightened me out realy fast..on stock a arms you have to compress the shock so far that it basicly takes 99% of the pre load out and makes for a nightmare to install and they dont perform that great after they are in..if you go with a +2 a arm they fit but the money you spend isnt worth it..alba sells a kit for the banshee that runs about $900 and its the right parts for the bike..you can get the a arms for 5-700 and the shocks for $250-300 a set on ebay..but for that price why not just get the alba kit and have it done right the first time with banshee parts..the 450 shocks have to be grinded down as do the mounts so right there you have already taken the shock and made it weaker..and in the end its my understanding that by putting the 450 shock on there you actualy lose a bit of front travel due to she shock being smashed so far down just to fit in the frame

i went to a 13 front sprocket and i got a bit more low end but over all i was not happy with the change..i was pulling hills a bit better but it wasnt enough to make a difference worth the cost of a new sprocket..i lost about 7-8 mph an the top end and my lower gears were worthless (1-3) HOW EVER going with a 15/39 set up with the FMF fatty pipe that is a good set up for me..i got more top end more low end and my gears are working better i get more pull out of all 6 gears...but all in all its going to depend on the terrain you ride. i ride the southern california deserts.95% sand dunes and 5% hard pack..the pipes realy made the differance in the low end ant the gearing helped the top..the FMF gnarley pipes will give you insane low end (for a banshee) but like i said its all about where you ride...i would recomend staying with a taller tire and playing with your sprockets to find a set up you like for your local riding areas..

what im trying to find out is where does the hose that comes out from the radiator cap (over flow hose) mount on the coolant bottle??? i relocated the bottle to the fromt of the bike to accept toomeys..does it go to the bottom of the bottle or the top??? and what is the best way to re route the hoses after i mount the bottle

ok i see more and more yfz 450 shocks on banshee's but what i need to find out is will the a arms from a 450 fit on the shee?? has any one tryed? does it fit and more important is if they do work on the shee how is the ride after using 450 pars on it???
-
i have heard that the 450 shocks are already compresses a bit on stock a arms? does anyone have the 450 set up on the stock a arm kit ? how well does it work and is this a bitch to hook up?

i use the clutch alot in the desert races..if you feather it right you can use it like a lower gear with out having to shift..I.E. pulling up into a tight wash or out of a wash rip on the clutch and it will bring the banshee right into the power band and shoot you out like a bullet..it takes some getting used to but once you learn just how and when to do it you will love it....a great time to do it is right as you start to pass another rider on the track be it a mx track or open desert..not only will it sling shot you right past them but it kicks up just enough dirt to cause them to slow down a bit and make the paass stick..
-
i do desert racing and im going 15/43 and it seems to give me the best of both worlds top end and torque out of corners..but i like a 14/39 set up too..the best bet is to play with your gearing set ups and find one that fits your riding style and the terrrain that you ride the best.

who is going to gordens for presedents weekend?? i checked the yahoo weather report and its telling me yuma is going to get rain this week ans right through friday night and spotty showers saturday..the sand will be nice and wet..my paddles gonna hook up like crazy

i ride 99% dunes and i have found that the 13/41 gearing has been the best all around for me. my banshee is still prety much stock. im just now starting to put the extra money into the bike. but over all i have a bit more low end and didnt lose the top end speed with 13/41 there is a web site that has a banshee gearing ratio chart it tells you rpm speeds and compairs it all to every other gearing rstio you can get..type a search for banshee gearing calculator in your browser and you will find the site
-
actualy the top speed of the banshee depends on your gearing..i have a 2004 banshee totaly 100% bone stock well i did get a set of itp rims and paddles.but i have started to play with my gearing and i have found a fast set up. if you go to a 15 tooth front and a 40 tooth rear sprocket you will top out around 80 to 82 mph.how ever with a 12 in the front and a 41 rear i topped out just about 67 mph..so gear it right and get some pipes 85- 90 mph..and thats with out spending alot of cash on mods nd keeping the stock reliability..there is a web site i gound telling all about the gearing and the speed vs. torque....search for banshee gearing calculator in your browser and you will find it. and the best distance to race is the sand drags at glamis and gordens well

i have been riding gordens well sence i was 4 yrs old im now 30..in the last few years they have started charging $25 foe 1 week or $90 for a season and i have yet to see anything be done with the money exept for the toll booth that was installed???ohhh and they did fix the dirt road that motor homes used to get stuck on but that was a 1 time fix and its now self maintained..the b.l.m is driving some very prety new trucks out there though..now here is my question.its known that here in california we must pay a reg fee.for the off road sticker, the money collected from the dmv for the off road stickers is suposed to be used to fix and improve the riding areas in california.now im having to pay when i go to these places 2 times.one is for the reg. for the bike and the other is a land fee? both of the funds the money goes to is suposed to pay the same thing,,so why are we paying 2 times now for the same thingand where is our money realy going?????the only thing i have seen new out at gordens well is the brand new vehicles the rangers from blm drive???no medics on site no rest rooms nothing ???..on a different note there have awlys beeen dumpsters at gordens well and the trash i saw out there this weekend was amazing what a mess..the only thing i saw that i thaught was cool is someone left a whole stack of fire wood where they had camped..that is not trash because the next guy will be able to use that..but people lets take our bottles and cans and put it in the dumpsters not the dunes...after all you have room in the cooler to get it into the dunes but that also means you have room to take it out too

well i dont think alba sells cannnondale? i mean i buy most of my stuff either there or motoworld andthe last few times i was in the lba store i saw honda yamaha suzuki but that was all????? but i did happen to pick up the alba limited edition banshee 996bs..talk about a fast bike..there thinking of using the motor for a street bike..its almost as fast as the honda cr1100 and the suzuki hyabusa 2255

i have done 91mph on a long straight hrd dirt road using gps and that was pinned in 6th and it was fast and fun yet very scary i do have video proof but am not able to figure out how to get it to the hq site...in sand i have done 130mph on the sand highway between gordenswell and glamis but that was in single seat buggy with the 1300 cc hyabusa motor built to the hilt..you can see these buggys like mine (i have a short sand car buggy) at or at www.sandbullet.com

so 2 weeks ago i get off work way early decide to load my shee in the truck and head to the track for quad night..never riden this track b4 but i figured my friends son (10yrs old) rides this track 3 nights a week. how bad could it be after all the kid flys out there he doubles and tripples everything out there on a ktm 85..i can do it on a banshee?? well the track took my right arm from me for the season..i had taken 20 or so laps and was gettin prety ok with the track lay out and jumps so i started to hit the doubles got them down so its on for trying to hit the tripples.well i came out of the left corner right infront of the stands and set up to hit the tripple pinned the throttle and flew.i wasnt ready for the way it shot me straight up and straight out. i took off like a damb rocket, i had all the height and almost all the distance i needed to clear it..i just didnt have the grip on the bars to land nice and soft. i hit so hard that my hand and wrist broke in 5 places on impact with the bars.i never came off the bike but the hard landing forced my throttle hand into the bars so hard it broke my thumb on the throttle lever bent the bars.. the worst part about the whole thing is that just happened to be the same night that the duncan racing team was out there to praactice..i must have looked like such a dumb ass hitting thaat hard right in front af the stands.
-
i was in there a while ago looking for a bike for my girl and i almost bought that banshee for my self..it is a nice banshee tricked out to the fullest extent pssiable but the price tag was shocking and it was a bike that has been riden very hard.or so the sales guy was telling me.
