  1. could anyone tell me what is the benefits of having reservoirs on your shocks?
  2. yeah i've climbed a hill on a piped shee. I lean forward like hell all the way up.
  3. some people climb hills with shortened swingarms, i dont think it would be a problem. what kind of porting and pipes does your dad have now? for the trails u would want a mild port that produces a smooth powerband.
  4. toomey silencers will bolt right up. but if the place you ride at requires spark arrestors and sound reduction you would have to buy the toomey silencers and hush kit. the toomey silencers look way better than fmf's do, thats why people use them, and it gives them a better sound.
  5. that's just hilarious!
  6. why would you go with t5's for trails and mx? you will be clutching alot to stay in the powerband and you wont like it. and pc's do respond well to porting and mods. banshee17racing had eric gorr do a woods port and switched from t5's to pc's and he said it was a huge improvement. he had instant power with his port job, and still pulled hard up top. he said he didnt have to use his clutch alot compared to the t5's. i mean dont get me wrong t5's are a good pipe, but they wont perform well in the area you ride in, they were designed for mid-top power, and in the trails you want good low-mid. im not bashing fattys either, they are an awsome pipe, i know from experience, but their are other pipes out there that perform better. dont limit yourself.
  7. any out of frame pipe, t5's, cpi's, rockets, and shearers i say. the shorter and smaller the silencer the louder the sound.
  8. not to take over your thread, but anyone know how much nickel plating costs? and how much it costs to chrome a set of pipes?
  9. fmf gnarly is all about low end, you wouldnt like it. because when you have all that low end, your goning to hate the top end and want a different pipe. some people say pro circuit is a mid-top pipe, and some say its a good all around pipe. I would give the pc's a try, since its different. most people run fattys or toomeys, mass produced pipes, give something else a try.
  10. suspension definately and make a rebuild, with a new port job. if he rides tight trails, stock or +1+1 a arms with new shocks. open trails, +2+1 arms with new shocks. you dont want to go too wide to where you cant fit through the trails.I dont think a wider axle would be desireable in trails either. I believe with a stock length axle and longer a-arms, its easier to pitch around. you dont want a longer swingarm in the trails, shorten your stock swingarm -2. instead of wheelspin you will get mad traction because your putting weight over the rear tires. as for a port job, I hear the Eric Gorr port is a good woods port for about $200. 2 in 1 carb would help with low end while increasing top end also, sredish may chime in on that one. He ran a 2 in 1 setup with his fattys and loved it. what kind of pipes is he currently running?
  11. dmc's, paul turner mids, or fattys would be good for your type of riding.
  12. hes looking to buy a banshee, from 0-3000 bucks, around northwest USA, and will take banshee needing a fix.
  13. i meant to say the best low end for a twin pipe. i would only go with a 2 in 1 if your a hard core XC rider. if u are recreational u wont like it too much. u have all the low end but it has no mid-top.
  14. what type of terrain do you ride? their is always a pipe to suit your riding style. for trails: dmc's, paul turner mids, fattys. dunes: toomeys, rockets, shearers, paul turner high revs. fattys are more of an all around pipe, good low end and torque for the trails, while still having that top end in the dunes. the ultimate low end pipes are PT mids, best on the market, but for a high price. im not sure on pro circuits, or ct exhaust, but i hear PC's are pretty good mid-top pipe.
  15. banshee's will never retire unless all the 2 stroke maniacs out there turn over to 4 pokes, which i doubt. even officials are trying to get rid of them, you see GNCC did. i personally dont think the 700 could hang with a shee, its too slow. but then again it all depends on the rider. we will just have to wait and see wont we?
  16. does anyone think a 4gal ims tank is worth the doh? or would you better off in the long run with a 5gal tank? I ask because they are only .8 gallons over stock, which is 3.2
  17. gearing is what makes u faster. you choose a pipe performance wise. fattys are good all around pipes, toomeys are a mid-top pipe, good for the dunes. mods and things just help you get to that top speed faster. out of the 2 pipes I prefer fattys, I speak from experience.
  18. i dont know where u get the idea from that just because r's were made in 86-89 that parts wont be avalible. their are numerous companies who still make parts for the r. at one point r's became popular and companies began making parts for them. so u need to do your homework. now, who's the real idiot?
  19. damn yamaha went big with the new raptor, its still gonna suck tho. weighs like 45 pounds heavier compared to the 450. tell your dad to get ready to pull out the wallet on this one.
  20. anyone ever tried pyramid reeds? i ask because people praise v-force 2 reeds alot, I want to see someone try somethin different. im not saying they suck, but im just asking.
  21. take off the carbs and snap 1 of the intake
  22. cut that back of the lid from the back 2 clamps and back if u feel insecure about taking the whole lid off, so u can still clamp it down. if u feel unsafe about mud/dirt/or whatever getting in there form cutting it, go buy an airbox outerwear and place it in that spot.
  23. atvforlife27 is lookin for a fixer upper
  24. fuzzy u ever gonna run his jugs with the play port?
  25. no power gain, but it sounds badass and looks better than the fmf silencers.t5's for dunes, fattys for trails/all around. heres a site with dyno's of alot of pipes. http://www.angelfire.com/extreme2/yambansh...s/pipeinfo.html
