I'd say go for it. The large tanks may look a little weird, but they get the job done. I will say there is more than one way to skin a cat though.

I would call Kevin at HJR. Great guy to deal with. He can get you plenty more out of your cub. I wouldn't hesitate to have him do any work I needed done. Looks like an old TRex cylinder. Got any pics of the inside of the intakes? Are all 3 of the vertical runners in the intake still there?

I'm helping a friend re-do his 485 cheetah. Same problem, detonation and backing plugs out. I sent his domes out to Tim at Titan Racing with some specs about his setup and where we ride, what fuel he wants to run, etc. Tim will have new domes back to us next week, ready to run. Sounds to me like you sent your stuff to the wrong folks. Do a little research ahead of time & you could have saved yourself a huge headache down the road. Best of luck with Shitrinity.

Save yourself the time and do it right. Don't half-ass it. Take the time to split the cases and clean everything and check everything out. Go to walmart or an autoparts store or wherever and buy like 4 or 5 cans of carb cleaner or brake cleaner and clean the cases really well before you start working on them. You will thank yourself later.
