Scope signal to the primary should be about 80-100V for reference. Find a scope, you will narrow your search. B

I am about to do a techy on ignition coils because they are the very last piece to ever fail in a system. Remove the plug caps and test separately. If that does not show your culprit, remove the plug wires from the coil by unclipping them. Now test leads and coil. You should find either caps or wires are a problem. Or your meter is not working right. B
-
Yep, you found your culprit. Bottoming that edge will load the hell out of the intake skirt. Pushed until it broke. Get things lined up better and check squish. Wisecos would have failed too. I am surprised you did not "hear" that B

I would note that clearance for cast pistons is N O T the same as for forged. This is where cast pistons get their bad name!!!! People do not see a clearance on the box so they assume to use the Wiseco clearance, and they break!! Cast pistons run at about half the tolerance of forged. Port chamfering is also very important. Seems way too many motors that are killed just by rough port openings. If the specs are right on the engine, it will hold. If not, well, the pics above show it all.. I would not point at the pistons yet. I think there was a reason it let go. Yes, if piston contacts the head, it can break the pistons where it did due to violent skirt loading and shock through the piston. It will break at the weakest point and that is it. B

120mph in 8th? But set up for dirt racing

I think your fighting a losing battle there.. Most "tax payers" are not pro-Obama. I hear a lot of things about Bush but I never hear specifics. What was it that he did or did not do?? Remember, we had several national disasters hit while he was in office that were beyond his control. I will admit that if Obama is being honest about some of the health care stuff, maybe we will finally get a reality check for insurance cos. Now supplying Ins to people that just don't want to work, we are screwed. I think Obama seems to think that taking from people that work and giving to people that don't is the way to do things. If that is so, I should quit work tomorrow and suck on uncle sam's tit. Sorry to go political. I think a lot of business people right now are scared shitless right now.. B -
GOT STIFFED ON PARTS SALE. MY MISTAKE
blowit replied to blowit's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Not sure if he is a member. I will not drop the name because I don't roll that way. For all I know, he fell off and is in the hospital but as of now, sure seems to be a bite in the ass. What really sucks is I broke down our machine just to get his head done so I lost more than just head work and shipping. And I am the one always preaching proper business ethics and practices. shit B -
I think we experienced our first bad sale. Modded a Banshee head for a customer. He send us the head. He was in a hurry to get running so after we ran it, I expedited shipping and got it out "before" I talked with him to get a CC number. Tried to help the guy out. It has been 2 weeks with no return calls or emails. Just tried to help. It bit me in the ass!!! B

may i suggest... http://cgi.ebay.com/YAMAHA-BANSHEE-NEW-BIL...id=p3286.c0.m14 Sounds like your shift claw jumped off the shift star. Very common problem. We built a fix for it due to so many people having that problem. If that is indeed the case, you will need to drain the coolant and oil, and remove the clutch cover and put the shift claw back on the shift star. Do NOT try to bend the shift claw. It is case hardened and will likely crack if you do. It is also possible that your return spring on the shift shaft broke. Either way, probably need to open the cover to find out. Brandon

WE have seen a pretty sizable gain with our intake system. I think getting a big enough filter in there is key. http://mullengineering.com/ Sorry to add the link. Cannot get a pic to friggin upload. 29K image and it does nothing. B

Q: What type of two stroke oil should I use and what ratio? A: Well that really depends on what kind of engine and fuel you are using. Generally the manufacturer

Higher CR motors will tend to have a bit more pop to them. Now an actual knock is a problem but if you are jetted right with 0 to +4 timing on pump fuel, you should be fine. B

I guess I refer to it as vertical because the split or line is in the vertical plane. Different ways of looking at it but ultimately the same. LH and RH halves sounds fine to me.. B

Spark plug gap closing after a couple passes
blowit replied to mike6301980's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That just means you have a genuine Rolex timing piece. Didn't you hear? every thing comes from China now. -
The billet shift stars are available and ready to ship. Sorry about the above linky. That one was sold. Have plenty in inventory. Please feel free to call the shop and get one ordered. Brandon www.mullengineering.com please find the number on the site. Sorry, I hate posting our number on a public forum for spamming reasons. Please note that we have not updated the site yet to include the new star so all we have listed is the cut OEM star and we no longer stock them. Thanks!

Spark plug gap closing after a couple passes
blowit replied to mike6301980's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yes, all CDI digital circuits like the Banshee will have a set timing curve that is non linear. Yes, depending on what module you use, you can eliminate the need for any type of initial timing plate. The plate will only make a linear adjustment across the board which may be good or bad for certain areas of the powerband. Problem with adjusting the timing curve is you really need to understand what you are doing. I don't think it is quite right to give all the adjustability to the end user because things can go wrong fast. Really, steady state dyno testing is the true way to do ignition mapping. Brandon -
Stators are all the same. You are free to re-pin your plugs to match. Just keep the colors in the right place and you will be fine. Just a note, you can remove the pins from the connector with out cutting my carefully depressing the lock tab inside the plug with a needle type device. They will pull right out. May save you some time in soldering. Do N O T put butt splices in the stator connections!! That will be just asking for ignition failures later. Brandon
-
Sounds like the shift claw might be binding up or your clutch is not disengaging properly. Clutch issues are commonly considered trans issues because if you do not unload the torsion on the trans, it will not want to shift. Need to make sure the clutch basket does not have grooves. That will really cause it to bind under load and not shit, I mean shift.... Brandon

Spark plug gap closing after a couple passes
blowit replied to mike6301980's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Timing requirements get rather technical and subject to compression, fuel, squish, piston speed, etc. That all plays in to get max cylinder pressures to occur at right time. This is why there is an ignition curve because demands of ignition advance changes with rpm and engine load. Yes, as a general rule, you would reduce ignition timing at higher rpm. Brandon -
Spark plug gap closing after a couple passes
blowit replied to mike6301980's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Mike, I sent to a PM. Appears to be some setup issues. Brandon -
Motor is a vertical split design and seals can easily be swapped without splitting the cases. Crank bearings require case split. Problem is many times the seals go out for a reason. ie, too much radial play or trashed crank bearing causing failure. inspect carefully. Brandon

If you have a ton into porting on your cylinders, you can go for broke by running the 66.50mm. Keep a close eye on things. (Open every 20 hrs). Problem with thin sleeves is any piston slap will break them and make change. They are also more subject to distortion when hot thus wearing out your pistons faster. If you are running stock or mild jugs, probably better to get different cylinders. Brandon

You will be putting down the most torque to the back wheels in 1st and 2nd. You need to make damn sure you are NOT jumping sprocket teeth. That is very common and sometime not obvious. Front sprocket more common. If that all checks out, you may have a damaged gear in the trans that needs replaced. Silver fines are common in the oil due to friction materials from the wet clutches. Cannot get away from it. That does not indicate a trans problem but chucks of metal are a problem... Brandon

Spark plug gap closing after a couple passes
blowit replied to mike6301980's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Would like to know more about your motor but you need to start back at 0 timing advance and ride it. You will be studying the burn band on the ground strap of the plug to determine optimal timing. Remember that timing is NOT what makes power. An optimal engine design will not need timing advance so don't think you need to get way up there to get it dialed. What is the displacement of your head? Shoot me a PM if you like and I can work you through the problem. B -
X2  I would be on a dirty carb. More specifically, a pilot jet. If you can swap plug wires without the problem following the wire, it is not electrical. Should also inspect reed pedal as well. Brandon

Get a line of people that want them and I will run them for you, no problem. Please feel free to PM me on the matter. B
