  1. It did turn out to be the head gasket blew out both sides at the back between the cylinder & the water jackets , Im putting it down to Cheap gasket , got a new Genuine yamaha one to put in , What tension should I tension the head bolts too ?? , I have previously tensioned my head bolts to 28 Nm / 20 ft.lb ( first round tension to 10 ft.lb then re tension to 20 ft.lb ) is this right ?? , Will I Need to re-tension after the first heat cycle ?? Cheers, Aitchy.
  2. Can anyone help ?? This may have already been covered here , so bare with me I have recently done a top end rebuild my Shee and now it is pushing coolant out of the overflow onto the pipes, It seems to happen after a slight pause once i back off it surges out ,so kinda ruling out the head gasket I Changed the radiator cap to be sure still the same The cooling system is pressurising while the bike is runnning but drops quickly once stopped , didnt have this problem before the rebuild ?? weird, I did change the Juggs this rebuild though?? ( back to standard porting) Just about got me beat ?? , I am still running the overflow bottle then over flow back to the front under the bars then straight down onto the pipes , how much coolant loss is normal?? Any help would be much appriciated Cheers, Aitchy
  3. I am runing 98 Octane 40:1 , Shes Very volitile power up high , It runs out of fuel at the top of 6th just wont keep it in the power band Im running 160 mains & 55 pilot Im not sure wht this converts to as far as mikini carbs go ???, I have searched about for a conversion table but am getting mixed results Cheers, Aitchy.
  4. I purchased my bike with a lot of mods already , Due to failure in the left Jug im having to rebuild The bike as it stands has , Crazy Dune Porting , Twin 30mm D-Slider carbs , FMF Gold Series Fatty pipes + Powercore 2 silencers , race reeds ? , Shaved head & pod flter + Outerwear running no airbox lid It has killer top end out on the beach ( Still runs out of fuel up top & Bogs crazy in 6th ) Anywho, the power it has is not realisticly useable for the track & trail riding i mainly do So, Im currently getting my spare Jug's rebuilt which have standard porting in the hope of unleashing a bit more low down power Can anyone poin me in the right direction in jet down size , " To give me a starting point " (Im running Between sea level up to 1000ft) Should still use the shaved head ?(I have a spare standard one ) , I have been & will still be runnin it on 98 Octane fuel @ 40:1 mix . Im Still a bit of a newbie, So Any help would be much appriciated, Cheers, Aitchy.
  5. Im with bansheestang , Check the compression on the suspect side Just went through this myself, sounds like you have done in a piston
  6. I feel for ya, Im in the same boat, What is it with that left side ?????? I nipped mine up , a week later my mate nipped his up same side Both right sides are fine ,Cryin shame " FOR SALE 1 X 65.00 .040 O/S & 1 X 65.25 .050 O/S Wiseco , Cheap good as new lol " Cheers, Aitchy.
  7. This is how i run mine , I havent had any problems to date Though it is frowned upon by many riders Hope this help Cheers, Aitchy.
  8. Nipped the rings up across the exhaust port   Oh well rebuild again
  9. I Finally got there , checked her out this morning before work I have ruled out the reeds there all good , Plenty of compression I then took the front pipe off and lets just say , Im not likin the ridge I can feel around the top of the piston ( Through the exhaust port ), run out of time today gonna pull her down in the morning survey the damage
  10. Firstly my weapon of choice is an '03' , FMF Fatty gold series pipes power core 2's , full Dune Porting , shaved head , dual 30mm OKO D-Slider Carbs & Single Pod Filter , I was told by the previous owner he had put some fiber reeds in it ( Not sure ) I was out in the dunes today , all running fine then she started misfiring on the left side I had a similar problem before turned out to be a dud plug no such luck this time . I; - Swapped plugs over - Swapped the plug caps over - Cleaned out both carbs and swapped them over and the problem is still the same Misfiring on the left , running fine on the right ?? Maybe coil ?? (Not sure if Relevent but , when i previously took the pipes of to polish them up I noticed the left pipe is Blue'r on the bends than the right, definatly getting hotter than the right ???) Has anyone seen this problem before and or can point me in the right direction the help would be greatly appriceated, Cheers Aitchy.
  11. Do you have after market carbs if so swap the carbs left to right right to left see if the problem follows the carb rules out electrical I had trouble with mine only 1 pipe getting hot , was like it was not firing on 1 side checked it out to find Strong spark there ( Was tearing my hair out ) , I swapped the carbs and the problem followed the carb eventually found it though , Im runnin 30mm " OKO " D Sliders turns out when i stripped the carbs down to clean i dropped the brass needle guide out of its seat , Hope it helps Aitchy.
  12. Found the problem i dropped out the slide needle guide when i had it apart , luckily found it on the bench Phew!
  13. Im running FMF Fatty's & Power core 2's cant beat em
  14. It seems i was grossly misinformed , The 30mm Kehin d sliders i was told i had are actually a cheaper copy of this carb made by a company called "OKO" The bike is back together but im having problems with Fuel flooding on 1 side , Ive set up the carbs the same ( Jets , Pilot & Float level ) have put into the 2 hard basket for this weekend look at next week after work .
  15. My Shee is in bits due to a blown head gasket , giving it a full clean out while apart , Im gonna swap out the 48 pilot for a 52 ( got a handfull of jets with the bike ) while ive got the carbs apart i would like to reset the float height as well but i am unsure as the "how to" with these things is it the same as the stock carbs ??
