I would not replace anything that was not a problem right now. I think careful attention to how things are put together will help you find your problem. As others have noted since I missed it, The basket MUST go on smoothly. It is very possible you roasted the bearing on the back of it and it needs to spin free on the trans shaft. Never should have to drive one on with a mallet. There is not too many things to go wrong in there. If the trans is free, that leaves you with the starting and power transfer system. I still do not quite understand your idler issue but I have never had to weld anything to get one to work. Brandon

Sounds like you need to inspect the transmission. It is common to weld 2nd or 3rd to the shafts and you won't be turning it over after that. If you can find neutral and spin the inner clutch hub or axle free as a bird, it should start. If you cannot spin the inner hub when in neutral, you have found your problem. Also make sure your kicker shaft/spring are installed correctly. Brandon

Those numbers are precisely how cast pistons get a bad name. Forged pistons will require .003" but cast pistons will require only .002-.0028" clearance. If you setup cast pistons at .005", they may fail quickly. Brandon

Just thought I would drop a line at the HQ on another new design from us. After some careful attention in the water pump area, we discovered several inefficiencies of other billet impeller designs that causes mild cavitation and lack of coolant system pressure which can lead to vapor lock and poor engine cooling. Ours was designed with some rather modern fluid dynamic principles and has shown a nice boost in coolant pressures and positive circulation. We also noticed most impellers use a stainless shaft that is rather inferior to the OE setup due to the softer steel and lack of lubrication coating that the stock shaft has. These 2 things can lead to excessive shaft and seal wear. We decided to reuse the OEM shaft. By doing this, we were able to offer the part a bit cheaper and give you a better designed product. You simply cut the plastic impeller portion off and knock the shaft into the impeller head with a soft mallet and reassemble. Obviously if the OEM shaft is damaged for some reason, this system would not be ideal but we figured there is plenty of stock impellers laying around by now that are not worth anything. We have listed a couple of these on egay but will be a few days before we can ship. New batch still needs inspection and packaging. Brandon

You say that like you would ever go back to a stock stroke...... No chance of that .lol You will find out with your software where you need to be with your setup. I think if you are headed to a 4 mil, you should consider a better fuel. There is plenty of extra performance with better fuels. Brandon

We got a ton of response last time to one of our new products. We have an all new design billet water pump head that uses the OEM shaft since it is actually better than the stainless aftermarket ones out there. We are looking for someone willing to throw the new parts in and give them a run. The parts have already been tested in house but we always like to get customer feedback before release. You MUST have have temp gauge to monitor temps with the new design. We will throw in a couple more goodies while you are in there... We need this tested yesterday. I can drop parts off as soon as tonight if you can do testing this weekend. If you can help us out, please PM me with your email address. I cannot reply to PMs for some reason so please leave an email as well. I would add a pic of the new parts but no option to upload on the site right now. Not sure what is going on around here.. Thanks

tranny second gear begin to seize on the shaft
blowit replied to Thewhite's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Banshees have a weak spot there. Redone plenty of them. I believe there was a clearance/material issue from the OEM. The new parts from the OEM have been improved with a better bearing on them. I agree with the above, you need to inspect the shaft. A rough shaft will certainly cause another failed gear. WE have OD ground the shafts to knock .0002 off of them but do NOT attempt that without the right machines. You may also find a shop that will do it for you but gotta find the right guy... B -
Feel lucky if the rod is not bent....... B

May want to inspect the base gasket on that side. The rubber plug on the exhaust side will start leaking over time and push coolant into the lower end and up and out. The failure should be obvious if you check it. Outside of that, someone might be sneaking up and putting water in your pipes when you are not watching. Have kids?....... B

LMAO!! :yelrotflmao: Thanks for posting that. 200 yamaha banshee..... I really like the end when you see him going back and forth while leaving a smoke screen trail. By the way, what happened to the OP picture? That was friggin funny and I wanted to save it. Banshee-man, send it over! B

Thanks for all the offers guys. I did find a couple guys local that wanted to give them a try. I will try to spread the love on the next round of goodies. They should be released in 7-10 days. I was going to add a pic for the hell of it but I cannot get a 46.5kb image to load. Can someone help? I will probably put them on the site tonight but pics are always easier than linkies. Brandon

We have developed a new billet waterpump drive gear with our patent pending "soft ride" gear design for ultra quiet operation. The gear is obviously not a go fast part but certainly a reliability part that shoue be in every bike. We have seen way too many expensive motor repairs over the years due to only a failed water pump drive gear. The plastic one gets brittle over time and fails and always when you are not paying attention. We have completed our in house function testing but would like a couple customers to install the part and give us feedback. We really need feedback quickly so as not to delay our shop. For those that are not familiar, this part requires that the clutch cover be removed, then takes about 2min to install. If you can help, let us know. Parts will hopefully release next week. Thanks Brandon Mull Engineering

120mph in 8th? But set up for dirt racing
blowit replied to Ieat4strokes's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Well, here is my political views. Bush, let's look at the fact since no one else will. OK city bombing, towers bombing, the sky is falling. Sorry but when you drop two of my huge monuments and kill thousands of my peoples, I get pissy and go looking for the guy responsible. I have not heard O N E military person tell me in honesty that things are all good. The problem is america is very shaded from reality and the reality is we step up now before things get worse. I could care less if all those people kill each other fighting over sand. Matter of fact, I want to send all our gang bangers over there that are always lookin to "bust a cap" and go get it done. However, when their wars come over here or their nuke fallout makes my kid grow 3 arms, that is when I get pissed. Bushed stepped up because he had to deal with many national disasters and yes, it gets expensive. I am not all "pro-bush" but I think the people that think we need to sit back and twiddle our thumbs while the terrorists work deeper into our country, need to go visit this people for a day. I have some rather accurate inside intel that firms up what I am saying. If you want bombs in your backyard, go there. If we do not fight them off, they will kill us off. Bet on it!!! Obama, guy is not all bad the "messiah" has some things to work out regarding spending money we do not have and some how thinking that taking from people that work and giving to people that don't will actually work. What friggin incentive is there to work when there is food, free money, health care, shelter, all provided for me if I don't??? I agree we have a HUGE problem but just for the record, you are about to see a HUGE flop with this CARS program. pissing away money. If anyone knows what actually drives the US economy, please stand up........ It's called small businesses. Until we can find a way to cut some red tape BS and let it happen, we are just putting each other out of jobs. I would also say that some of what Obama is saying "sounds" good and I agree that it is about time the health care system gets cold cocked into doing what is right by the american people. If you really wanna know what N E E D S controlled. It is the F'n law industry. Oh, you broke into my house and cut your hand so I pay, or you pulled got in an accident (no, a real accidnet) and now need 5mil for your pain and suffering???? How about if a doctor does his best to save your ass in the ER and does not give quite enough this and that, now your family is suing the doctor??? That stuff is getting ridiculous and it is driving up costs of everything, Insurance, food, business expenses, you name it. They get rich and nobody cares. I wanna hear stories of someone suing a lawyer. I really never thought I would become so polled on politics but I guess as you get older, you start to observe more and see what is going wrong and right. Wanna make things better for car insurance, put a friggin CAP on what someone can collect for an accidnet. then you will not get near as many wolf hounds wanting to screw your own mom out of her own house for a legitimate accident. disclaimer - My political views have nothing to do with our company or customer service... B -
We have a few of them too. They would work just fine for this test work... Datalogging and triggering is what costs the coin anymore. Those old scopes come in handy.... B

That is the problem D, my mind works faster than my fingers!!! Resst assured I can get more air in your carbs.... I will give you a yell in a week or so with a couple other products coming to the banshee market. B
-
If you are running stockish carbs, yes they will work but I am betting you have some bog bores on there. We have not found a way yet to shape the air charge as we indent without running into space problems on the bigger carbs thus have not made them for bigger carbs. Not sure how we might address that in the future. Busy enough as it is! Oh,I do have one trick under my hat for that but will have to find time for it. B

I have several guys using them on the 28s. You may have to adjust the ID of the venturi slightly. Yes, price is for what you see in the pic. We were doing a full mirror polish on the tubes but decided to sell them with the machined finish which is damn close to mirror but helped us reduce price on them. Probably will not make them again once they are gone. Too expensive to make. B

Yes, some meters can trap the spike but I think most people use the 3 dollar special from walmart and that is like using a dremel to do dental work. One problem you can see is the meter NOT trapping the right value. If the voltage is low, it can show a spike but it is still too low to induce excitation of the secondary due to the higher resistance. In sum, it can get you close but I would not put my life on the reading. B

Sorry, an oscilloscope is commonly referred to as a scope. Not exactly in everyone's garage of hand tools. They are designed to examine wave lengths, amplitudes, and frequencies. We use them every day here but if you are not familiar with one, please disregard my last post. B
