  1. Good advice.
  2. No worries about the thread jacking. The intent of the original posting was taken care of as far as I am concerned. I'll let y'all know if anything interesting happens regarding it. As for FedEx, I have never filed a claim for a peronal item with them, but I did have to do it at work once about 5 years ago. The claim was for a part of a machine fixture that was something that I had cooked up and was delivering to Ford in Flat Rock,MI. Needless to say it was a prototype and the only one of its kind. It was packed in a well built wooden and was encapsulated in an expanding foam. We had insured the package for $3000 or something like that. The package got to Ford (shipped next day air) and it looked like it had been drug down the freeway for 10 miles. Ford filed the claim, we made another part for Ford, and about three months later, the FedEx inspector tells Ford that he didn't feel the package was worth $3000 and that they would pay out the claim at an adjusted rate of $400. I got all pissed off and pawned the problem off on my boss. I am not sure what happened, but i don't it really ever got resolved. I know that probably doesn't help much as it's a long, dated story, but I thought it might be entertaining at the very least. ::
  3. Pictures are definitely going to help us help you fix it.
  4. Word.
  5. I'll be keeping the 'ol fingers crossed. I am still a bit nervous about what the guy is up to. Based on the stuff the guy has been buying off eBay, he may just be mechanically incompetent and couldn't figure out how to work the choke or the cable adjusters.
  6. My bad. I was trying to keep it at a high school auto shop level, but I obviously wandered from that. als660r brings up a good point. Did ojcool ever get his bike on a dyno?
  7. I agree.
  8. Have you looked at the "Guess My Dyno" thread lately? He's got a video.
  9. By the way. That's not my truck, it belongs to my buddy.
  10. I never said that I worked at a dyno shop specifically. I said I worked at a dyno shop or sorts. Our dynamometers are just a small part of what we do. FYI: an iron lung is a term that some of the older (at least to me) dry lake racers and drag racers call a twin screw, roots style blower. I believe (correct me if I am worng) that the term originally comes from the crank driven blowers that came on the Allison, Packard, and Rolls Royce Merlin engines from World War II fighter aircraft (the housings were made out of cast iron).
  11. Gotcha. I wasn't paying very good attention. I was just looking that the dome.
  12. I don't car what the car was. It's a late '80's to early '90's Mustang with an iron lung (probably aluminum) on it. Sure the number are easily attainable, but I certainly would go showing people that video to prove it. That particular dyno is more useful as a tuning tool than anything else. I would be suspect of whether the brake on that dyno can hold the torque and horsepower you're putting out. Did you horsepower figures keep going up significantly as you contiued to run on the dyno?
  13. That sort of looks like you have been having some piston to head contact. Is that flaking carbon deposits or metal?
  14. That dyno is a pile and you know it. It cost somebody $25k used. Yep, a real nice piece of equipment. :shoothead:
  15. You're right, your shiny blower makes alot of noise at the end. I cannot deny that. I can say, however, that the horsepower figures that you got from the dyno are more than likely only about +/-40% accurate.
  16. What is that dyno (I'm guessing it's a 24" single roll, friction brake, made by DynoJet or Mustang)?
  17. My work doesn't hire an engineer or a green shop guy unless they have participated in Mini Baja or FSAE. I would just use spherical bearings or heim joints at the pivots.
  18. I am still waiting to learn about the cat cleaner.
  19. ewwwwww, :yucky:
  20. I get to ride pretty much every day here in SoCal. I really only drive my truck three or for times a month (grocery store). I am not sure that I really need to sell it, but it would sure make moving alot easier.
  21. EGT is different than an O2 sensor to be clear. You learn different things from both, but there is a rough correlation between the two. IMO a heated O2 sensor is more useful than EGT probes. If one were so inclined, you would obviously like to have both. The need to mount the equipment to the bike is not necessary. They are really only a tuning tool that you put away when you're done.
  22. I don't know what the deal with the cat cleaner was. It sounded funny though. I suppose you could say I work at a dyno shop of sorts.
  23. I am going out of town for a job interview this weekend, otherwise I 'd be down to go.
  24. I take it that you think ojcool is going to be out from under his "Guess my Dyno" thread sometime soon, or atleast enough to get time to read another thread...................
  25. I think I only looked in this thread because I saw something about a dyno mentioned here a long time ago. Then, there was some conversation about a cat cleaner, which intrigued me, even though I hate cats. Finally, I figured out you were the same guy that wrote a mile long reply to some one line joke I made about you mistyping Brain/Brian. Past that, I am just here to entertain.
