  1. If given a choice i would rather use a forged Wiseco piston any day.
  2. That's what I was wondering, but I can't think of anything. All of the Yamaha parts that can be swapped all have the same length of splines on the the ends, so there would not be a need to run a spacer. If someone was really misdirected I suppose they could have had an axle re-cut with new, longer splines, but I don't think that is what happened there.
  3. Not getting into specific examples, a an engine with a shorter stroke will always be able to accelerate faster than an engine with a longer stroke, mathematically speaking of course.
  4. Yeah there is not much to be had in WA except for Patriot. I think there are a couple smaller name guys around in WA, but I can't think of their names at the moment. One of them is in Everett I believe.
  5. I left a sandwich inside one of the CNC machines at work last week. The operator thought I had meant to do it and finally brought it to me a day later (I have no idea why he would think that I meant to leave a sandwich in a CNC mill).
  6. Any cash that you might have been getting together for that, you can just send to me...................... Past, that I talked to my buddy at Yamaha R&D Cypress, CA, the other day, and he confirmed that it was b.s. i actually hadn't seen or heard about the cover photo up until the point he brought it up and I had to ask him what the hell he was talking about. The only reason I called him was that I was looking for some plastic scraps. :shoothead:
  7. Could the picture in your signature get any bigger?
  8. I had given up hope on seeing any Banshee dyno numbers part of the way through page 2. If any Banshee dyno number do magically appear, I agree that they should be posted in another thread.
  9. I Oregon people built houses near the dune areas and then decided to get pissed off that there was noise coming from them. :shoothead:
  10. $75 -$100 via UPS. The trick with UPS is convincing them that it is not outside their size limits.
  11. Yours is the only one that I haven't thought was funny looking. Yours definitely looks better than a six pack rack. A six pack rack can look good on a bike too, but that is usually an exception rather than a rule. I guess when I think of a larger tank I think of the 5,5 gallon tanks that are "cartoom'ish".
  12. Most aftermarket axles do not have any taper to them. It looks like a stock axle to me, but I don't know what those spacers would be all about.
  13. Out of curiosity, how were you trying to do it?
  14. I am the same way. My Blackberry that I need for work spent two days in the refrigerator one time (don't ask, I have no idea how I manage to set it in there). ::
  15. www.denniskirk.com sells them pretty inexpensively as well.
  16. This is true.
  17. I am not that smart, but every once in awile something shakes loose and makes it past the layer of malted hops and old bong resin that encapsulates my brain.
  18. I finally just did the same thing. The Toyotas could have done alot worse than they did.
  19. You're right. How did you remember that? That was a ways down the list of threads. Is this the same guy that came over from the Project Blaster web site and started posting weird threads with a picture of some guy in them? If your VIN is gone, the frame is probably stolen, or the VIN has been switched to another frame. There are ways to put it back on if you have a title, but I doubt you'd be interested in them.
  20. The important thing about the SAE Student Competions is to do as much work as you can and docuement it as much as possible. Even if the work has a crappy result it is still a good thing to have in a portfolio. Make sure you take time to take alof of pictures as well. If you are interested in an out of state (or country)internship in the near future, I might be able to hook something up as well. I was on the 5 year plan for my BS degree as well. It didn't help that I was working as a program assistant, running the vehicle lab, either, but that did help may for my MS degree.
  21. just like a cocaine filled gerbil. :yucky:
  22. Caster is the imaginary plane that is formed by drawing a line through your upper and lower, outer heims. You measure it by finding something to reference (like locking front brake with a tie strap and using the wheel studs) and the putting an angle finder across it. You can get the angle finder at any hardware store. If you don't like that method let me know. I have a few others.
  23. Did ojcool give up and go home?
  24. I am not a fan of the looks of those tanks, but if you are running out fuel now, you will only use more as you modify the motor. The other alternative is to get a six pack rack and strap a gas can to it.
  25. If you search this forum on this subject you will find a ton of information.
