  1. That's rad. I'm in when you get the info back.
  2. I have been admiring the PD units are they still too flexy?
  3. Bansh-eman is going to have his shifter and brake levers go missing after he sends them to me to get chromed, he just doesn't know it yet.
  4. What they showed on the MythBuster epsisode with the tailgate up is acccurate. The tumble of air behind the cab is designed in and gives you a virtual spoiler effect on the top of your cab. My real complaint about the tornado is this: What do you think happens to all that nifty swirling air when it splits up and hits the area of the intake manifold where the air stream divides into each intake runner? My gues would be you wind up with more stalled flow there than you would have even if you didn't have the stupid Tornado installed.
  5. I am by no means a fuel expert, I just happen to know a handful of interesting things about fuels. If you are interested in a simple power adding solution try some VP U2 fuel. It already has an oxygenate blended into it. The trick about blending oxygenates and nitromethane is that you really need to know the specific gravity of what you are mixing as well as the purity of the fluids. These are things that are over most folks heads, however if you are a gmabling person then you can do the old fashioned mix a small amount to start out with and increase the mixture to comfortable level. Either way, turn key consistancy isn't there nor is inherant reliability (i.e. you might screw up and add some extra holes to you engine. :geek:
  6. I just light a match and drop it in there.
  7. Maybe the crankshaft is from Oakland?
  8. .................atleast my crystal ball doesn't keep flashing a PC Load Letter message.
  9. The tailgate deal is a different story. I actually wrote a paper on it in skool that was backed up by 1/10 scale wind tunnel testing. As it turns out I am not sure I have an official opinion on this topic. I can say that losing the weight of the tailgate certainly is worth something, but other than that, I'll just have to go along with whatever the MythBusters episode concluded. :geek:
  10. The tornado thing is also a bunch of BS. However, one of the folks that works for me has one in his car as well as one of those fuel magnet deals. If someone could provide even a reasonable explanation of how they improve some performance, I would atleast stop bad-mouthing them.
  11. Their area couple boys on here that run the DMC pipes. They are decent for MX work I believe. CPI pipes tend to be a higher rpm pipe that work well for dune and drag work. Velocity Accelerators are akin to perpetual motion machines and can be mostly dismissed as BS. If you have properly functioning carbs, you don't need that crap. WTF is purple power soap? Is that the car wash soap made by Castrol? I have a purple peaople eater and a purple headed yogurt slinger if you would like to know how those work.
  12. They are made from mild steel. It's not worth polishing. PC or chrome is the way to go. In reality, if you're concerned about looks you just need to buy aftermarket parts. :geek:
  13. Word!
  14. Cyborg girlfriends are where it's at (Long story, but I interviewed a guy once that answered my question regarding if he were n't doing what he was doing for a living, what would he be doing. He answered by saying he would be a cyborg engineer. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't). I am interested in what these new features for v3.0 consist of. Do you have the release notes? I am hoping the bug fixes for not being able to tell a girl didn't want to move from WA to SoCal and ditching you in favor of a floor sweeper at Tacoma Screw shortly after, now exist. This is what happened to me and my crystal ball during that crap:
  15. Ahha. I think I found my problem here. My engineering crystal ball has not been upgraded to the Wife_v6.1 software. Some day I hope to have to make that upgrade, but at the moment the Girlfriend_v2.2 software isn't even getting used to its full potential. The Girlfriend_v1.3 software kind of screwed me over just prior to bailing out of SoCal and I think I am still dealing with that a bit. In fact the current revision of software I have is so buggy, it makes me thingk fooling around with a girl that lives in Detroit is a good idea. Go figure that one out. I think lots of guys go through that sort of deal with their bikes even if their significant others don't like to ride that much. Every guy finds some reason to hope that they willl so they rearrange their stuff to support it. At the end of the day, you can always buy more/different toys, but you hopefully would trade them all in for the girl if the situation warranted it.
  16. My engineering crystal ball says that you sold it because something else looked newer and cooler.
  17. BK_banshee is a class act. His deal with the plater in Portland is the only way you can get good work out of that shop. If you need chrome work done in OR, get hooked up with that guy. Do not bother trying to do it yourself with a vendor, it's not worth it.
  18. He has a mexican in the back of his shop with a caustic tank and a plating tank. That is/was where some of the bad plating was coming from for sure.
  19. Word. You have to be quite ignorant to figure this is a coincidence. Maybe you got some bad electrons in your wires. Have you tried changing your electrons lately? :geek:
  20. An fuel oxygenate is a good way to turn a good running engine into a solid chucnk of metal. Y'all ought to atleast read a bit about it before using it. Getting fuel mixing advice from Jim-Bob and his sister-mom doesn't usually hack it.
  21. I am a fan of what Sredish did there.
  22. Tolulene is most popularly an industriual solvent. Small percentages of acetone and tolulene can be found in gasoline. If there is a higher than natural concentration on these chemicals in a sample of gasoline, it has usually been added by the manufacturer as part of a detergent package. Acetone and Tolulene are very similair when burned in a comcustion cycle in that they have a faster burn rate than gasoline. I doubt there is any proof or logic behind someone adding either chemical to their fuel and getting better mileage or performance unless they happen to have some major fuild system blockage issues that these solvents just happen to break up. Additionally, these solvents will generally adjust the emissions of your vehicle and will definitely harm/destroy oxygen sensors and catalysts. On a more simplistic note, you don't see anyone who actually knows what they are doing pouring either solvent in their gas tank. FYI: If you need to pass a state emissions test in gasoline engine, you need to run a 50/50 mix of M85 and low octane gasoline. Of course you will then have to pray that none of your emissions equipment freaks out and/or dies when you do it.
  23. You're thinking of propylene oxide probably. As an aside, didn't we have a weird thread last week in this same forum about tolulene?
  24. It kind of sounds like he has a bad ground somewhere. All of those parts are probably still good. :geek:
  25. Matt's in-house chrome setup has several problems...............I won't mention them here, because they know about the issues and really don't seem to care.
