My bearings are shot too. The ball bearings broke out of the bearing and are lodged. I am having a hell of a time trying to get the axle out. Any suggestions?

Blown it up again!
baddboyy21 replied to Rare Scottish Tree Badger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I just had to send my engine back to Passion. My plugs kept vibrating loose and caused the bike to detonate. It started to melt the piston on the leftt side. I now have 190psi on the right and 165 on the left. Jim stated that when the plug comes loose on a high crompression engine, it loses its ability to disipate the heat. That causes it to detonate. I'm running 115 octane, with my set-up..only thing we have in common is the dyna ignition set up. I run on curve 3. But have been doing so for almost two years. Not sure if that may have been the problem or not. I definitely think your problem was from the plug coming loose. -
I didn't use the metal bushing either and the pipes line up fine. They don't leak at the joint either.
-
When I added mine I didnt adjust the main. I just kept the 310 and leaned out the needle . I read about leaning out the needle somewhere...tried it and it ran fine. I'd go back to you original jetting and see what happens.
-
When adding V-Force Reeds you usually need to lean the needle out one clip position. Move the clip up 1 from where it is and you should be fine.

You could adjust the air screws with a different setting on each. You will be just like the other Ghetto Fabulous Banshee riders that do that stupid shit. If it's just a little different then I wouldnt worry. If it's near .5 turn and you are fouling plugs, then you need to find out why its doing that. Could be low compression on that side, a sticking float in the carb. Different size pilot jet..it could be a number of things. Don't put a band-aid on it. Fix it the right way.

I have Jim's 12-port Hot MX 4mm Stroker. It ran me about 2100.00 including the 34mm carbs and billet intake. It's well worth the money when you get the jetting dialed in. I'd definitely talk to Jim. He will answer all your questions.

Noss is definitely the way to go!

Im running 175 mains..55 pilots, needles in the middle with the 34pj's @1850ASL.

I'm running 17/41 at the moment. It pulls fine. You give up a lilttle bottom end with the 17. I was doing 80 mph in 5th gear with 22" RAZR's according to the GPS. Im going to try 16/39 now...you almost will never hit 6th gear with 17/41 so its all up to you on how you wanna run.

In response to your previous e-mail. That gearing ratio has a top speed of 72.89mph not 100mph.. What is "reworked" carbs mean? What has been done to them?" Baddboyy21, I understand what you are saying however I have the speeding ticket stating 107. Sorry to have to correct you.

how do i know if my bike is ported
baddboyy21 replied to yodamonkey64's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well I'm glad you came to your senses lol. I used to think my banshee was doing a lot faster than it was until I got a GPS and checked the gearing charts. -
I'm using turbo Blue 117 leaded.
-
He has 20" tires and I used 9000rpm. It's basically a stock bike. He is playing it up to make it sound like it's not.
-
Okay...I sent the seller a question.... Whats the gearing combination? What is the compression in each cylinder? What brand and what size carbs?" 14 41 is the gearing. Don't know the compression right off hand, but can put a gauge on it and check. The carbs are reworked stock carbs, and I believe them to be 26mm. There is no way this bike does 100mph...! It's a proven fact...top speed with that gearing is 72.89mph.

Welll its "race ready" so it has to be worth the money! LOL

how do i know if my bike is ported
baddboyy21 replied to yodamonkey64's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Not to be rude...but I'd say you are doing 75mph tops! -
Most of the people running 16 tooth fronts are ported. I'd say with a stock bike you will have some problems with that large of a front sprocket. The most I'd try is a 15, but I guess it couldn't hurt to try a 16. You will definitely need a bigger chain.

How do you know it ran about 100mph? What did you use to determine the speed. A calculation of your 16/44 gearing and 22" tires says you should be doing about 85mph in 6th gear. As the others said..you would have to look at the intakes to see if they are bigger than stock. You should be able to notice the difference just by looking. If it was ported it should probably have a timing advance also, and with those domes I'm thinking it should definitely be running race gas. -
I'm definitely a fan of RMATV also. Quick shipping and most of the things you need are in stock.
-
Changing the front sprocket to a bigger one will give you a higher gear ratio...and make you go faster. You need extra horsepower to pull the higher gears though. Here is a gearing calculator. It will give you a top speed estimate on each gear. http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm

Passion 12 port stroker kit/ Pipes & Gearing
baddboyy21 replied to Mod Banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have the the 12 port stroker. I am running 15/41 but I am definitely switching to 16/41. It has way too much horsepower for the 15/41. There is too much wheel spin with the 15. -
I have the Passion 12-port Hot MX stroker. Im running 18cc domes and it has a lot of low end torque. It was basically set up for more top end as opposed to low end.
-
I have the 12 port Hot MX Stroker from Jim. I just got my engine back from him a few weeks ago. I finally got to ride it this past weekend after breaking it in. The bike has awesome acceleration. I am running a noss head with 18cc domes, it still has a ton of low end torque. I am running it with 34 pj carbs, the noss head, v-force reeds, clamp on Uni Pod's, Dyna ignition and FMF SST pipes. I will probably upgrade the pipes sooner or later. This setup has to run on race gas, which is 5.49 a gallon here in Pittsburgh. I have to say that the bike is definitely a gas hog with the extra power and flow. I have 15/41 gearing and haven't had a long enough road to completely wind it out in 6th gear. I have the jetting just about dialed in. I am anxious to see the top end when I can wind it all the way out.
