  1. Have to say that I am satisfied with Jim's work also. He has great customer service. I have two of Jim's engine. I have a 4mil Hot MX port and a 4mil full drag port. The are very strong runners. You get what you pay for in my opinion.
  2. Good Luck!
  3. Before I spent more money on new carbs and other bolt ons, I would get a new set of cylinders. You are probably looking at about $400-600 for a used set of ported cylinders. Thats a lot cheaper than frying your top end and crank from an airleak or a cylinder cracking. Thats just my two cents.
  4. I would torque the head bolts 10lbs then 15lbs, then 20lbs. Definitely tighten in the correct sequence or you risk warping the head.
  5. I have a Grand River Racing lock up. No nuts and bolts to come loose like on the direct drive set-up.
  6. Try SUDCO.com, You can get them to overnight them to you.
  7. someone has to have something they want to sell!
  8. Interested in selling just the engine?
  9. Between $1200-1500, or so. Depending on the setup. I already have 1 12port 4 mil stroker. I have to rebuild it the whole thing. Looking for something to bolt in during the mean time.
  10. Still looking for a complete engine too.
  11. I am looking for a complete 4 mil stroker, ported engine. I am only interested in a port job done my a reputable builder. I am also interested in 4 mil ported cylinders. PM me with details and price.
  12. Can anyone tell me where I can buy some new Shearer inframes? Did a google search and all I could find was results from Ebay.
  13. I dont ride it long enough for it to do major damage...I can tell when it detonates. You can tell when you are melting a piston and a plug. From my experience an airleak usually melts the exhaust port side of the piston. Yes I have checked my compression. I am running 115 octane with 19cc domes. Its a brand new motor. Complete build by Jom. He checked all the seals again when he rebuilt it a second time. I've checked for airleaks on the manifold numerous times. It has to be electrical.
  14. The bike has all new seals and gaskets. There was no other damage to the piston other than the melting of the center. No exhaust port sise damage.
  15. They are the domes that Jim gave me. I think it was the timing...thats why I sent the Dyna back to have them test it. I have about 5 hours on the rebuild so far. Still working on the jetting...but I plan on ordering the shearers next week. I was also thinking about the 200 wat Ricky Stator and a new coil.
  16. I have tried everything from 178 down to 145 so far. I have used the cgl, cel and dek needlies and 50-55 pilots. I have had two detonation problems while running the dyna and 115 octane gas. Each time it started melting a hole in the middle of the left piston. I sent the dyna to be tested and was told it was working properly. Right now I am running the 34pj's dek needle 4th clip, 50 pilots and 145 mains. I might hold off until I get some shearer pipes in the next week or two.
  17. I was running Turbo Blue 115 Octane all of the times. Each time it started burning a hole in the middle of the left piston.
  18. I have been using the engine ice for 2 years. It works great for me.
  19. Okay, not sure if this has been discussed, but it probably has at one time or another. I currently have a 12-port 4mil stroker. I have the cool head, v-force reeds, 34PJ's, FMF SST's. I have a Dyna FS Ignition. I thought something was wrong with it due to detonation problems. Dynatek tested it and said it was fine. What would be a better set up...a new 200 watt Ricky Stator with adjustable timing plate and a new coil, or would using the Dyna be the best route to go?
  20. I never had a problem getting my 34 PJ's to idle. Mine idle great. The jetting is a pain to figure out because the needle that comes with the carb is junk.
  21. The loose spark plug caused it to detonate. The spark plug needs to be seated all the way for it to dissipate that heat through the head. Your plug got extremely hot and caused the engine to detonate and the detonation melted the piston.
  22. A trail tech is a "redneck" version of a GPS. The GPS can do all of the above mentioned things...not to mention get you home.
  23. Get a GPS with a built in walkie talkie Radio. Then you can communicate with your friends. I have the Garmin Rhino 120 and the handlebar mount. Well worth the $160 I paid.
  24. I just got my axle out and the spacer was stuck on the alxe also. I used a 3 inch air cutoff wheel and cut it off. The spacer is $10...so don't waste time trying to get it off.
