  1. The pilots have very little to do with WOT. The mains are what need dialed in for WOT.
  2. What is your elevation? What type of filter set up? What do your plugs look like? Did you do a plug chop? It's hard to give you jetting advice without that important information. V-force reeds would make the needle a little rich. Does it bog right off of idle? If so that would be the pilots. Sounds like you may be a little rich with the needle and maybe 1 or 2 sizes on the mains.
  3. Sounds like you need to adjust the needle. If its in the 5th slot, move it up to the 4 and see how it runs.
  4. If you are at sea level...you really need a rebuild. Thats just my oppinion!
  5. Okay...problem is solved. I switched the silencers with my spares from the other bike....cleaned the carbs. synched and tuned them. Starts on the first kick. It needs bigger pilots....I have the 25s in there now....the air screw is only .5 turns out for the best idle and throttle response....Im gonna go up to a 27.5.
  6. I put the stock silencers on that I had from my other bike. I am in process of cleaning the carbs. I'll let you know soon as I get it back together.
  7. They werent all rusted...the silencers got water in them from washing the bike!
  8. This bike is like brand new. I just did some more investigation. It appears that the stock silencers have water in them. I started the bike and water was coming out of a rusted pin hole. I think it might be the silencers.
  9. Okay...here is the deal I have two Banshees, One is modded and one is stock. The stock one is getting hard to start. The only mod to it is a K&N Filter Set up with no snorkle and and 6 1inch holes in the air box. The bike is still on the stock bore. It really hasn't been rode hard, the reason being that my girlfriend is the one usually riding it. I have the stock exhaust on it still. I am at 1250-1500 feet above sea level and usually ride at about 60-80 degrees. I bumped up the main jets to 240's and stock 25 pilots for the filter set up. The bike starts hard cold but idles fine. I did a compression test two different ways. The first was done cold, 5 kicks WOT and got about 117psi. The second was cold and I kicked WOT until the guage topped out. Both cylinders topped out at 120psi. Is it time for a rebuild? Could I need bigger pilots with the K&N? My second thought is that maybe the stock silencers are clogged. I had to remove the end caps on both of my quads when they were stock. With the end caps on it didn't seem to run right. I hate to tear the engine down and do a rebuild if I dont have to. I already have .020 over piston kit. I can do it if I have to. Should I replace the stock exhaust and maybe add a Noss head to this bike also? I have been riding a modded bike so long I dont know what a stock one should feel like lol.
  10. The dirt in the needle valve is what keeping it from seating properly. Clean the carbs...check the floats for pin holes. If one has a hole it will keep it from rising and closing the needle valve in the float circuit.
  11. Sounds like you have dirt in the needle valve. You may want to try and clean the carbs well with carb cleaner and some compressed air. As far as the key...that should have nothing to do with fuel coming out of the over-flows.
  12. I have a Dyna Ignition on my bike. I mostly ride wide open dirt roads and wide open trails. Whick curves do you recommend?
  13. I run Turbo Blue 106 unleaded in my bike. If I use the leaded 110 version I have to mix it with 93. It doesn't like running with the 110 leaded. I mix it with Castor 927. Race fuel here in Pittsburgh is $5.00 a gallon.
  14. Id say the difference is the SSTs move more air and generates more horsepower. I have the SST's and V-Force 2 reeds, Noss head with 19cc domes and I am jetted at 310 and 27.5 pilot. I ride at 1250-1500 feet above sea level. I run without the cover using a K&N filter also.
  15. Is it possible for the stock silencers to become clogged? I have had them on my 95 Banshee since it was new. A while back I had to remove the end caps because it didnt seem to run right with them on. This is the bike my girlfriend rides so I dont get on it much but it seems like it isnt running right. Do any aftermarket silencers fit the stock exhaust? Can the stock silencers be cleaner or repacked?
  16. How could more packing make it louder? The packing is what helps quiet the noise.
  17. I think you meant less packing makes it louder
  18. I forgot to mention I have the V-Force 2 reeds also.
  19. I have a 1995 Banshee, it has a Noss Head with 19cc domes, FMF SST pipes, a K&N filter set up and I just got a Dyna Ignition. Its not ported. Is it worth upgrading to larger carbs or should I just save my money. If did get carbs...what ones should I get....I plan on getting it ported this winter but have run out of bolt on performance upgrades for now.
  20. Why not just buy a mixing tag from Rocky Mountain ATV for like $2.50. Then you can just slide the tag for mixed or not mixed.
  21. How many main jet sizes will I need to move up with adding a Dyna Ignition. I currently run 300-310 mains and 27.5 pilots depending on the weather. I am at about 1250 ASL with SST pipes, Noss head with 19cc, K&N and V Force 2 reeds.
