How long have you had your shee? Is this the first time you have opened your carbs up. Its possible that it is some lithium grease or something of that nature that the previous owner applied to the slides so they wouldn't stick. other than that, i have no other ideas for ya!

yeah but you still need to do all the updates to the cannondale, or have someone do them for you.....i think its like 1200 bucks for the entire job from ATK. good luck! make sure the crank bearings get done!
-
I would stay FAR FAR away from the Cannondale unless its had all the ATK updates--there are alot of them-- My brother in law just bought an 03 off ebay, nice bike, but still a cannondale. He did the majority of the easy ATK updates to it. One thing that he didnt do was get the Crank bearings updated. Well we were riding the dunes in Rock Springs when the crank bearing let go...needless to say we were about 5 miles from camp and I had to pull him back with the KFX700 V-Force. Rebuild and new crank with new ATK bearings is pretty damned expensive. They do run good, but not even close to my banshee. Throttle response on the Fuel injected 440 is insane. They are extremely loud as well due to the engine design. Oil is housed in the frame wich makes oil changes kind of fun. Bottom line is they are kinda a pain in the ass but they are fun!

I have works triple rates, they sag a little but thats the way they have been from new. but if one is differant from the other you probably have some type of problem. how old are they? Maybe works will fix 'em for free
-
Any auto parts store will probably have them. I know Autozone has BR8ES plugs....they were like 1.35 each!
-
wont kick over, or will just not start with the kickstart? did you pull the plugs? any metal bits on the insulator? how does the compression feel? could also check the reeds and make sure they are not broken.

Dish network v/s Direct TV v/s Cable
CombatTalon2 replied to RNBRAD's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have Dish Network. So far I can't complain. I believe that direct TV is offering more HDTV channels right now than Dish does, but im not sure. I have all the HD channels that dish offers (its like 6 channels) and i also get all my local channels with an OTA (over the Air) antenna. The nice thing about that is that here is an HD OTA reciever built into my Dish 811 box so all my locals that broadcast in Digital I get in Digital wich means i get all the Network HD programming for FREE! i have a 51" Widescreen Toshiba HDTV -
Banshee sputters under load
CombatTalon2 replied to 2004LEBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
thought you said 1/4 throttle.... my shee was doing the same thing. it would rev fine in neutral. Put her in gear and it bogged down really bad just off idle, give her some more gas it would clear up about 1/2 to 3/4 and ran awesome on top. give it a shot, if nothing else changed when you were riding i would look at the carbs first! -
Banshee sputters under load

Clean your carbs, sounds like what my banshee was doing. Found a clogged pilot. worth a shot. -
you must be, i went thru and checked about everything but homosexual stuff, the dead and animals and i came up with a 70.89........damn i guess you guys are freaks!

Opinions on clamp on foam filters
CombatTalon2 replied to Banshee Pilot's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i run twin uni clamp ons w/outerwears. They work great in the dunes. you get little bit of dust on the outside of them but thats about it. have not had a problem with them yet! -
are they getting pinched somewhere. between the swingarm and the engine cases maybe? its possible its filling up the lines then seeping out the top where they connect to the carbs.
-
No, a long rod motor does not change your displacement or stroke at all from stock. So if there are spacers it may be a stroker motor... probably a 4mm if they are not very thick. pull the head and see if there has been any machining to the domes.
-
I have a Samsung A670 on Verizon wireless. I cant complain at all about either the service or the phone. The phone is on me 18 hours out of the day, and at work (on the flight line) it gets beat up pretty bad. its been dropped multiple times on the cement and still is working great. Its Digital only so if you live in an area that has not gone ALL DIGITAL yet, dont bother with this phone.
-
you are talking about 2 differant things here. its either a Long Rod or a Stroked crank. a long rod is just that (a longer rod and a piston with the wrist pin holes raised to match the added length of the rod) or a stroker crank. With the stroked crank the point at which the rod connects to the crank is moved out from the center, thats when you get the extra leverage. And with a stroker you need to worry about squish and spacers. If you are just doing a long rod you dont need to worry about that other shit, just make sure you have the right pistons to match your longer rods. ps....unless of course you have a long rod stroker crank......then its a combination of both.

what ratio do you mix your gas
CombatTalon2 replied to looking 4 a bike's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
kotz at 40:1 and i get it at RMATV.com as well, love it! -
The rod is longer in mine by 5mm, and the hole in the piston where the wrist pin goes is 5mm closer to the crown of the piston. My shee uses blaster pistons! same stroke, just differant rod and pistons. As far as what does it do: I really dont know. my bike runs good, but im not sure if it is any better than stock length rods and banshee pistons.

yep, thats what i did to line up my haulers. Just pull the hub on one side and line it up with the other side. make sure and put a new cotter key in as well!
-
yeah, i would say that you have some big pilots in there. Im running 27.5s in my shee. I'm pretty sure i need 30s, but not any bigger than that.

Well in the process of getting the banshee ready for the trip to St. Anthonys next week, i decided i would throw my new 330 main jets in early, so I would hopefully be close to jetted when i got there. currently im running 350s at sea level. Anyway, normall I do one carb at a time, like alot of ofther people do. Well this time i didnt, and I actually found my weird jetting problem......I have a Toomey needle in one carb and a stock mikuni needle in the other.....would have never figured that out unless i took them both apart. upon further inspection i noticed that the toomey needle has 6 notches, and the stocker has 5. kinda pisses me off that I did not find it sooner, but im happy now. And amazingly the bike started with like 2 kicks once i synched the carbs and adjusted idle, and air screws!! im happy now, but that damn needle was 31 bucks at the stealership. Anyway, just wanted to tell someone.

300 bucks a year on the banshee. I think its with progressive. I have Geico and USAA for everything else!
-
are you using a foam filter or K&N. I wont run K&N, only uni or equivilant foam filter oiled up and a pre filter over the top. never seen any crap in my carbs even after riding for days in the dunes!

I Run Klotz Techniplate at 40:1 love the smell, and seems to do an awesome job!

another streetbike dilemma
CombatTalon2 replied to Slammin Full Bore's topic in General Banshee Discussion
One option is an unsecured loan for the amount of the bike...interest rate will be a bit high--probably around 10 depending on your credit. if you do that, you can carry liability only. if you get a bike loan you will more than likely be required to carry full coverage on the bike untill its paid off. you will probably not get a good financing rate thru a dealer on a used bike thats only worth 5 grand. just get the loan from the bank, and get the liability insurance. -
help on crotch rocket situation

Where the hell are you from. I dont think they they have/had the VFR400 in the states. If i was still in england i would agree. Also the CBR400 and ZX4 were good bikes! Still the Aprillias were classy looking machines!
