  1. Hockey don't worry about that. I need all the help I can get. The main agenda for me is to fix what is wrong and not take apart several things that isn't wrong in hoping that it is broken. I appreciate everything you've suggested to me. I know now that I def. need to empty my pipes and before, I never would have thought twice about'em Thx, Cary
  2. Oh yea, is the first thing one should check is the head gasket
  3. Hock, No I haven't but I'm going to do that now. I've never taken'em off before so it might take awile. Also, what exactly does this help, I'm sure it can't be good for anything and how often should I pull'em and drain. Can I take the head off without having to drain the coolant and do I need to pull'em off to take a look at the head gasket Before this happened shee would crank on the first kick Thx hock, Cary
  4. Are there common place for air-leaks .
  5. Checked the slides and they are not stuck. Choke tube is connected to both carbs. New set of plugs are installed. Gap is correct. Steady flow of fuel running threw hose. Mods are: Lightened flywheel K&N airfilter w/stock box +4 degree timing from R.Stat. I changed fuel mixture because alot of members stated that you should only run 24:1 for break in and that ratio would cause carbon build up. So, I changed it to 32:1(4oz-1gal) This is what took place. Banshee sat up for a long time(12yrs, long story), 87' model but only has about 40 hrs of usage. Bought a clymer and found the problem and fixed it, stator. Cleaned carbs and oil case. Over the yrs lost some parts such as the airbox lid and filter. Put new stator on and she cranked on the first kick after sitting up for so long. Running without filter and lid. Never road her longer than 5 min. due to no filter or box lid. Did not ride on dirt or dusty roads. Ordered k&n filter and airbox lid, installed'em. She started running as if the choke was pulled out, and it wasn't, and smoking more than usual. So I figured shee wasn't getting enough air since the only thing that I did different was add the lid. Oh yea, shee ran fine w/just the filter, lid came later. Took lid off to see if that is why shee was running too rich. Cranked her, ran fine, as I was putting her up she starting reving up a little more than usual. As I stated before, if WOT is a 10 and 1 is idle, shee was sitting still w/an idle of around 3. It wasn't so high that it would make too concerned but enough to make wonder why it idled a little higher than normal. Went to crank her and she didn't seem to have as much compression. With the new spark plugs installed, should they show signs of gas and oil on them, because they are not showing much of anything.
  6. Yea Scott, shee has spark, nice blue spark . Rookie question, what exactly are you calling slides.
  7. If I were to pull the head off would I know for sure that was my problem. I thought I might be OK w/my compression due to some of the other members had lower compression and their shees ran fine. What about the crankcase. Tell my what I need to do as for as eliminating top end or bottom end. THX
  8. Oh yea, when I last parked her, she was idling higher than ever before. If WOT is a 10 and idle is a 1 then I would say shee went to a 3 before last turning her off.
  9. UPDATE!!! I put new spark plugs in and also poured some gas in the cylinders and still nothing. Whats next
  10. First of all you guys are a great help, I just want to thank you and say that you are very appreciated. OK, I have 110 psi on both cylinders with a stock engine. Only mods are +4 timing, K&N airfilter w/stock box, flywheel lightened. Filter is brand new. I'm going to ck a couple of other things and I will get back w/those results. THX,THX,THX and THX, CARY
  11. The spark is blue, it's not weak. TORS has been removed. Going to get compr. tester now and I will post ASAP. THX Cary
  12. I let her warm up for a min. or so before I gave her the gas and 90 degree weather here in Alabama helps a little. Plugs are sloppy oily, I dried them off and tryed again and still nothing. I found a new spark plug and put it in and still nothing. I was mixing 24:1 and changed to 32:1, 4oz to 1gal. I turned the fuel on to see if fuel was coming out of the overflow tube and it did. I have the basic spark plugs NKG b8es, they come pre gapped. BTW, so I don't run all over town tomorrow serching like a blind-man, where can I get a compression tester???? Thx guys Cary
  13. come on guys don't be shy, I really need you on this one PLEASE. I am going to purchase a compression tester tomorrow to rule compression problems out.
  14. Hey guys, first of all it's great to be back on line. Second, I have no idea what is going on with my shee. I road her for about 10min. the other day and shee ran fine. Went to crank her today and shee sounds funny. As if shee is not trying to fire, shee has spark, and when I try to give her some gas while trying to crank her, it makes that hollow poping or burping noise. She has spark, this is a new one for me, but I don't think shee is firing or igniting. Any suggestions would be great. Please help Cary
  15. I would bluff her. Tell her that you are going to her boss and tell him that she is doing person things, such as this, on company time and property. If she wants to act like a child, treat her like one. My best friend works at UPS and I will get his opinion on this tomorrow. Cary
  16. Mullet, you were right about the tusk being out of stock. They told me that it wouldn't be in stock for another month, sometime near the end of July. Cary
  17. I have a friend that works at the steelership and he told me that I could wait on jetting since I was getting pipes in the next several months. You guys tell me what you think I should do, just because he works at the steelership doesn't mean he knows everything . Where I live just doesn't have alot of atv shops and the 4 wheelers that sale around here are for hunting, not ass kicking. Where might I find different types of 2 stroke oil . The steelership here only sales yamaha prods.
  18. O.k. I will be the ginny pig . I will buy a tusk, if it is in stock, just for kicks and the fact it is only $30 isn't that bad. I will post and tell you guys how well it works.
  19. Oh yea . I use yamalube, what ratio
  20. Hey guys, I have my shee running finally and I have some mods such as: Lightened flywheel (boonman) Adjustable timing, Rickystatar (200w,set at +4) K&N air filter to fit stock After reading some of the threads on holes being burned in pistons got me thinking should there be some things I need to be doing different. Should I run higher octane than 93 I was told that I could wait on the rejetting b/c I'm getting pipes w/in the next several months. He said no sence in jetting twice in that short of time. Any info would be great and THX in advance. Cary
  21. Thx for replying guys . Still trying to make up mind. Cary
  22. Does anyone know why they are not going to produce the shee anymore????
  23. For those of us who are not members of that site and do not know what's going on,, feel free to explain a little. PLEEEEEEEEEEASE
  24. Thx for replying, I hope it works well for you. Let us know. I have also seen TUSK from rockymtnatv mentioned here, that is was a good one for $30. I don't mind spending the 80-100 bucks for the digger if it is that much better.BUT,, what makes it better. Keep us posted on yours. thx, cary
  25. I have to buy a clutch kit. Barnett seems to be the crowd favorite. I basiclly ride dirt roads and trails. Nowhere to race where I live. The steelership said that they could order a aftermarker for around $45. I'm not worried about the cost of the Barnett if it is really that much better. All opinions welcomed. Feel free to shed some light on the pros and cons of diff. clutches. Thx, Cary
