  3. Lee, I'm very new to the websiste. I don't know you or what's going on. But, I do know I love this site. I know that you are getting quite a-bit of offers so the site will not shut down. I don't think I would read anything into such as the people not being grateful for what you have created. This is your baby. I feel that they are leaving something out, not purposely intended. I feel that they are leaving out a very important "BUT" right after there buying offer. Such as, "What are you asking for the site BUT, WE WOULD REALLY PREFER THAT YOU STAY, YOU CREATED THIS!!!!!! It all started with Eve . We haven't been able to win sence.
  4. What is going on?? I just found this site about 3wks ago and now there is talk that it maybe canned. Tell me this isn't true. I never had the nerve to do anything other than changing the tr. oil and now I'm able and willing with the knowledge of this website to restore an 87' to full restoration. The guys at the steelership wanted $2000 just to get a spark. I found this website and 3 wks later I found my problem(statar), replaced it with a Rickystatar, thanks to the info here. My flywheel is being shipped back to me from boonman lightening it. This website introduced me to a man in New York that lightens flywheels to a man in Kentucky (dirtclog) that I'm buying carbs from. It because of this website that I didn't become a yes-man to some crooked mechanic and pay what ever price they threw at me. Hell, at the end they said shee was only worth $250 for parts, I went and picked it up and got a spark for $137, only because of this website. I'm knew to all of this, so can someone post exactly what is going on. When was the poll? Maybe there should be another one with all of the story laid out. Or, this happen before I came along. Ya'll tell me. Thx
  5. Boonman has mine as we speak. I believe he will shave about 8-9oz of metal off the flywheel. According to boonman, it does not increase the horse-powere but the throttle responce. I have searched the forum about this topic and not one person had anything negative to say about lightening there flywheel. Everything was amazingly high praises. Boonman is the one to talk to. I'm in Alabama and I sent it to him in New York. Cost me about $8 for priority mail and around $65 to have it lightened. Hope this helps
  6. Thx for the reply guys, you'be been great help!!!!
  7. I have to purchase a clutch cable and was wondering if ya'll had a better one in mind other than the OEM stock cable. Also, as well with the clutch lever. It has been since 87' since the carbs had any work, where can I purchase gaskets and o-rings? Any mods to the carbs that you think I should most definately do while I have'em torn dn, please let me know.
  8. Thx again for replying guys, you've been great help!!
  9. Thx guys, just wanted to be sure b/f I started filing away. Btw, don't be shy, feel free to elaborate on adjusting the pick-up coil!!!
  10. Just received the statar and trying to install on an 87'. The box it came in stated it was for an 87'-94' 200watt statar. It is an extremely tight fit. Is this normal and if so what can I do to install it so that I don't damage the statar??? Thx,
  11. It appears my bros. has disconnect'em. But he never removed the control boxes. I guess I wil search for info on removing'em and what I'm suppose to replace'em with. Any info from you guys would be great. Thx
  12. I have to buy a throttle cable and I keep being asked if I still have the T.O.R.S. system or have I already removed it. What's the deal w/it. Do I need to remove or what. And what are the advantages and disadvantages.
  13. Hey guys , I have to buy a clutch cable and throttle cable. I need all the advice I can get. I'm just trying to spend the money wisely. I would hate to spend $15 on stock clutch cable and there was a better one out there for $30. Any sugg. would be great and please explain why the ones that are suggested are the better. Restoring an 87.
  14. My stator has bought the farm. What do ya'll suggest. Going w/oem stock or an after-market. Higher watts, is there a diff. and why. I think stock has 210 watts and some after-mark. have around 265 watts. Shed some lite PLEASE.
  15. I just chked my stator and the reading went something like this: 87" shee Yellow-to-Black .2-.4 White/Red-to-White/Green 115 Green-to-Red ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Is it decoration now or what??? Btw, thx for all the help you guys or ladies have given me. Any info. on this topic would be great.
  16. hey guys, twice in two days I have been told that testing my coil w/a ohmmeter will not give me a correct reading. but the book says diff. What's the scoop???
  17. Just go my clymer book and I think I'm in love. It will come in hand w/my 87' restoration prod. In the book it states for PRIMARY COIL TESTING to connect ohmmeter neg. to blk on coil and ohmmeter pos. to org. on coil, got a reading of .2-.3. According to book, I guess that is correct. For SECONDARY TESTING, it states to connect ohmmeter neg. to blk on coil and ommeter pos. to the leads. I did not get any reading @ all. So I took the lead out and connected ohm. pos. to metal tip inside coil. Still nothing. The book has no suggestions if this were to happen. Can you get a reading on one (primary) and no reading on the other (secondary)? So, does the damn thing work or not, and I'm saying that in the nicest tone possible. Hey, it does't say ROOKIE for nothing out to the left. Any help will be great. THX
  18. I need to replace the original throttle cable on my 87' shee. Just wondering guys, which kind that ya'll suggest. Since I have to spend the money for a new one, I might as well buy one that works the best. This is new to me so please be specific. Thx for all you help.
  19. but every thing turns together....when I turn the nut, the shaft is turning too.
  20. I have a 87 Banshee and its been sitting up for quite a while. I'm wanting to remove the flywheel nut but am not sure how. It's a little rusty. Should it come right off or do I need a special tool to remove the nut or is there some kind of special device that you use to remove the nut? Thanks in advance!
  21. It's Friday night about 11pm. I will not be able to get to the Yamaha shop until Monday to purchase a flywheel tool. Any shade-tree-mechanic ideas on getting it off. I'm too excited on restoring shee, I will not be able to wait till Monday to get that tool.

  23. THX BenBB. Shee has been sitting for about 8-10 yrs. I'm restoring it, so thanks for the info because this is a first for me to work on the engine and so forth. Got any suggestions on how to get the flywheel off so I can sand it.
  24. I have heard of several different ways to clean my carbs from soaking'em in gas to spraying'em down w/carb cleaner until spotless. My manual will not be in for another 3-5 bussiness. I've never cleaned'em before so this is new for. Any suggestion would be great. Btw, while I have them apart should I do anything different with'em, such as jetting and so forth???
  25. I am restoring an 87 banshee that my brother had own. To make a long story short, he was killed in a car accident and I have the bike now. Growing up I torchered people with this screaming machine. I am very familiar with the shee, though i am not with the mechanics. Shee has not been cranked in about 8 yrs. HELP!!!!! Attacking PROBLEM #1. There is no fire. What are the steps i need to take to start eliminating areas such as the c.d.i, kill switch, ignition and so forth. Any suggestions would be GREAT. By the way which repair manual is the better, Clymer etc.
