  1. The local Yamaha dealership finally installed a dyno. What's the opinion of the HQ . Give some insight please. Are they as accurate as I'm being told. And are they worth the price. Annnnnnnnnnnny info will be greatly appreciated. thx
  2. I am a franchisee in the largest supplement industry known, General Nutrition Centers (GNC). My wife and I own and operate 4 stores throughout Alabama and in the process of adding number 5.
  3. when the stator goes, all the electrical parts will not work. I will look in clymer to see what they suggest.
  4. The best advice I have ever received on here was "Go get your shee from the dealership and then BUY A CLYMER repair manual and there is nothing that can't be fixed on this website . I found why I had no spark w/in 30 min. Your local dealership will test your coil for you free of charge. You will need to go dn the list one by one eliminating each electrical sources. Mine was the stator. The clymer will go over step by step procedures on trying to find out why there is no spark. Such as, coil, key switch, on/off switch and last but not least the STATOR. I may have left out something. It was the best $25 I have spent today because it has saved me more money by doing the repairs my self. Now I'm able to turn around and spend that money on my shee. cdc
  5. 4 degrees is the most common

  7. hey people, quick question. When they did away w/the j-arms in '91 and went to all a-arms did they alter the frame. In other words can I change my j-arms to a-arms on my '87 frame???????? cdc

  9. Nevermind, I found the size. It is 2.8.
  10. I'm sorry, did you reply or something. I didn't see any words bouncing around.
  11. I need to replace my needle and seat, but I don't want to pay $40 bucks/carb from the dealership. James at Toomey gave me the # to Sudco because they sale Mikuni parts. Well, Sudco asked if I knew what size I needed to order? I don't have a clue what he is talking about. The size is not listed in the Clymer and my buddy at the dealership said that they don't have a size listed in there computer for it either. Sudco only wants $20 bucks/carb. What other sites are there that sale carb parts. Any help on these two questions would be great. Also, just put T5's, V-force 3 reeds and bored .010. James at Toomey's said I would need a #270 main jet due to living in the southern heat. Any suggestions. Cary
  12. Is it still for sale
  13. I would give booneman a call. Just personal message him with your questions. I'm rebuilding the top on my 87' shee now and you may have to replace the sleeves and start fresh. Bored that lg sometimes can cause little problems, alot of little problems. Always having to wrench on her.
  14. just found 2 idle screws, anyone know the tap size and drill bit size??????
  15. Hey guys, I bought a tors removal kit off of HQ. It did not come with the idle kit. I have only been able to find the idle kit w/the tors removal kit as one. Where can I find the idle kit by itself???? Thx Cary
  16. Hey guys, I removed the tors system a while back and thought that it idled fine. Didn't ride her for a couple of months. It will not idle now and I have cleaned my carbs twice to make sure the jets were clean. Still will not idle. I was told the other day by a yamaha guy that once the tors system has been removed that it couldn't idle and that I needed to perform some mods to the carbs(drill and put in an idle screw or something like that). Any help will be great because I'm tired of kicking the hell out of my shee when I ride in the woods. Thx, Cary
  17. Yea, I didn't think about that. Now that you mentioned it, I don't think shee will run at all w/out any pipes. I will just have to wait on the new pipes. THX-A-MILL.
  18. Hey people, hope everyone had a great CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR What's the worst that could happen by cranking my shee w/out the pipes connected. I have purchased new pipes and they are taking longer to be delivered due to the holidays. The stock pipes have been completely removed, anxiously awaiting for the new ones. I cleaned my carbs due to not idleing (yes, both pilot jets were cloged with dirt) and I would like to crank her to see if shee will idle. But, I don't want to have to reinstall the stocks just to see if the carbs are operating correctly. Any feedback will be greatly apprec. Thx, Cary
  19. I'm on hold right now w/Toomey. I emailed some pics to'em and they are going to take a look and give their opinion of whats going on. I will keep you posted and if needed post some pics later. Cary
  20. With the left pipe seated all the way into the motor the bracket on the frame and the bracket on the left pipe are off about 3". I talked to James at Toomey and he stated that they should almost line up, but they will be alittle off but not much. He said that the Right pipe and the Left pipe is actually made by two different companys. He wants me to try the right side this afternoon to see if that side is off as well. He wants to eliminate factory defect and which side will determine which factory. Later, Cary
  21. Thx Guys, I'm calling'em now and will retry again this evening. Cary
  22. I'm trying to install my new Toomey T5's and nothing at all will line up . Did thet send pipes for another quad or what. The pipe bracket on the shee and the one on the pipe are about 3" off when completely seated into the motor. When trying to install springs, it's not going to happen, they just will not pull out for enough. Please tell me if anyone else had these problems or they sent the wrong set. Thx Cary
  23. Check head gasket first before messing with the pistons. Usually the head gasket is the first to go. Usually, not always. Normally when compression is lost it is dew to damage head gasket or crankseal. If it were the crankseal you would have anti-freeze in your oil and so-forth. A shee can crank on around a 100psi, not all of'em, most of'em. Mine only has 110psi. Keep us posted.
  24. The ceramic thing made me curious. I'm looking at the can of HIGH HEAT I bought to paint my pipes and right and it states on the can HIGH HEAT with CERAMIC upto 1200 degrees. It's made by DUPLI-COLOR. I have two coats on her now, I'm going to buy another can and put a third on just incase. Thx, Cary
  25. Didn't know that was available. Thx, I will look into it. Cary
