Speaking of which, I just got my pipes in yesterday. I went with the T5's. Another reason I went w/Toomey pipes are they offer'em in an unpainted set for around $130 cheaper. I didn't want to Bling-Bling my shee. The are $359 at Rockymtnatv.com. I think Red-White-and-Black looks better than Red-White-Chrome and Billit, JIMO. Also, the chrome ones turn blueish after a while from all the heat and I would feel better about'em being black if I decided I wanted to hit the occasional mud hole.

what are you really scared of?
cdcoxwell replied to locogato11283's topic in General Banshee Discussion
The NUMBER 1 and MOST FEARED would be something happening to my 2 yr old son and also my wife. And me feeling like my hands are tied benind my back and there's nothing I can do to help'em. Then, it would be Sharks(eating me), Gators(eating me), Croks(eating me), Snakes, Spiders(crawling on me and not being able to know what it is or seeing it) and FIRE (being burned alive). Having something happen to my family and being able to do absolutely nothing about it is my worst nightmare and haunts me everyday. -
I have the T5's unpainted. They have a thick oil feel to'em. Do I need to clean'em w/mineral spirits or something before painting . Also, what type of paint to you guys suggest? I've been told PJ1 is a good high heat exhaust paint. Thx Cary

Hey Guys, hope ya'll had a great 4th. As of right now things are on hold. I ordered pipes on the 2nd . I will deal w/the carbs then (hoping they will come in on the 9th or 10th) since I'm going to need to rejet. First time w/aftermarket pipes. Need suggestions on what exactly I need to do. Leave nothing out. And what extra parts I might need. Thx Cary

farmboy, 100psi is enough of compression for cranking. Mine has 110. I have seen members say that theirs only have 95psi. And its the same compression in each one. You shoulb be OK on the compression. If the psi were different from one another,, say one side had 100 and the other side had 70 then you would have problems.

Thx Boon, Push I will chk on the idle kit ASAP. You know, I told you that dirtclog threw in stock carbs with the TORS kit that I bought from him. He has those type of screws on both of his carbs. I was wondering just what in the hell were they, now I know. I may be able to take'em off of those and chk the tap size for correct drilling and transfer'em to mine. Are there different size idleing kits or just one
-
Boon, I did remove the TORS. I bought it here from dirtclog. I didn't get any info with it on modifying my carbs. I have stock carbs, so the only screw on my is the piolot air screw. If that isn't what you're talking about then I'm lost. I have read up on jetting on the Un. BANSHEE JETTING FAQ and it mention a couple of times about carbs modified w/idle screws. Of course, me, lost again. Thx for sticking w/this thread. Just remember, if you guys are getting tired of seeing and responding to this post, times that by 100 and thats how pissed I am that my shee is running correctly . I'm going to take the carbs apart again for the sec. time in a week and clean the pilot jet. All of these problems have taken place after to mods done to my shee: 1. Added K&N and lid to stock box. Will take snorkel off today to see if shee is still running rich. 2. Took handlebars off and had'em sprayed w/LINE-X (truck-bedliner paint). I adjsuted the idle on the throttle perch and I will double chk it to make sure that's why its not idleing correctly. BUT, if I screwed up and missed that one I believe I will twice. Thx for your patience, really Cary

I apopogize, I didn't remember reading that. I wil go back and chk all the post out because there are alot of"em on this subject and alot of good info. It must have slip my mind.
-
I will take the snorkel off today and see what happens. I believe shees running rich because shee bogs around half throttle to WOT. I'm going to try adjusting the throttle cable at the perch to see what happens to idle. Later Cary Oh yea, are the slides suppose to bottom out or what?
-
On 87' shees, the jet main is 210. So, I ordered a size 200 to see if that will help. 90' - 04 have 200. So that might help for running rich. As for as not being able to idle is still a puzzle. Trying everything in the book and then some. Cary

RockyMountainatv.com has it for 53.99. Your basically getting a throttle cable, new carb caps and a couple of tid bits. Their all pretty descent. Cary

You stated that you installed a new coil. Brand new or buddy, ebay new. Anyway you can't get a correct reading on the coil doing it yourself with and ohm meter. You have to take that to the dealership and let'em check it. I had no spark, checked coil first and the ohm readings stated nothing. So I thought I had a bad coil, I was wrong. A couple of members here said that I could not get a correct reading to take it to a dealership. Sure enough I took it in and shee worked fine, even though the ohm readings stated that the coil was dead. Coils seldom, seldom go out. Your readings could state that your coil works fine and it actually doesn't work fine at all. Do you still have TORS???

Ok Push, I understand what you are saying now. Going out side now to try that. I'm back. Shee was 1 and a half turns out so I turned the air screw till seated and backed out 2 full turns. Still nothing. As before shee would quit as soon as I let off the throttle. Now with 2 turns out, shee goes dead a sec. later. So, I believe you are on to something. The air screw, I believe, is for fine tuning. Do I need to bother with turning the screw out more or change the pilot get . I was told to change the pilot jet, I called my buddy at the steelership, because the air screw was not designed to correct problems but to only fine tune the carbs. What do you think?? Yea svtkid, once let go of throttle, shee would go dead and not even try to idle. Thx Cary
-
Mullet, look 4 post back . I did and shee will not idle.
-
Is there anybody out there. Just knod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home??? Where are you people . For those of you that don't know, those are lyrics from FLOYD. Cary
-
Thx Push, doing that right now.

Got the carbs cleaned. Still would not crank . Got-a-buddy to pull me and after about 50yds w/the throttle floored shee spit and sputtered until shee cranked. . Shee will not idle at all, as soon as you quit giving her the gas shee goes dead. Shee will kickstart now. Also, the shee is bare, so there's no airfilter on her at this time. I don't want to put back together untill I know what is going on. I should have gotten someone to pull me off before I cleaned the carbs, that may have help w/some answers. I was told that shee would still crank while shee's hot if there is engine problems. He said wait a while and when shee cools down, then try to crank her and go from there. So, tell me what you guys think. What's my next move ??? Cary

Mullet, shee will not crank at all
-
OK, today's the day for PROJECT CARB CLEANING (echo, echo, echo). I get off at 3:00 so cross your fingers on getting her cranked Thx Cary
-
I agree with you Hock, it all depends on the machine. One member posted,COMPRESSION search, that his wifes shee would crank with only 95psi. They could actully crank her with their hand . If I'm lucky, I might be able to clean'em tonight, but I highly dout it . Thx

With the spark plugs off and me kicking the hell out of her, there's not any fuel being forced out of the spark plug holes. I do have stock pipes. I actually ordered Pro Circuit pipes from a local guy and had to call him back and cancelled due to the new situation. No need in having pipes if I can't get her cranked and I may have to spend the money on repairs. As for as the plugs being soaked is kind of a weird story and the story goes like this. I pulled the old plugs and they were extremely wet with fuel and oil (blk color) and then I put new plugs in and they looked as if they were not getting the same amount of fuel or none at all. I get off tonight at 8:00pm central time and that is the first thing I will recheck to be for sure and post the info. Brand new stator for Ricky. Carb slides are positioned correctly. Yea, I was told by a Yamaha mechanic that Banshees only needed 100psi to crank. Carb cleaning , again, will take place tomorrow because I get off at 3:00. I will not have time to clean'em tonight. Of course, I will post with results. Thx for being patient with me . I appreciate it

Hey guys, can't do anything tonight, inlaws are coming over for movie. I have to work a ten hr shift tomorrow. So, it may be Wed. afternoon before I can get to her. BUT, I will have my laptop at work chking to see if I receive any other suggestions, so KEEP'EM COMING Oh yea Hock, I tried pouring some gas in the otherday and still, nothing. But, I don't know if I poured enough. I think I poured only 2-3oz in each. So, ya'll tell me Thx, Cary

Taking carbs off to clean'em now, just cleaned'em a month ago. Going to do it again just to make sure. That way I can mark off the list. Hockey, the fact that I don't have fuel in the pipes, would that be a sign that something is wrong w/the fuel not getting to its destination or I just didn't kick her that much I will chk the throttle cable because I did have it off a day or two before this happened. But, when I put it back on it seemed fine. Double-chking. The slides are bottoming out and they are at the same distance at bottom. Thx, keep'em coming Cary
-
Alright guys, removed the pipes and NOT one single drop of fuel. What should be my next move, removing the head ??? Please keep the suggestions coming. THX Cary
-
I didn't get to remove the pipes yesterday because of the Father's day thing, but I get off of work today at 2:00 and going to remove the pipes then. Like I said before, I had no idea this could take place w/the pipes, Could you please explain how this could hender the shee from cranking. I'm just trying to better understand the mechanics of it. Thx Cary
