  1. Got a stretched stocker +24 out front, +12 strutted swinger that'll be up for sale real soon.
  2. Thanks. I owe ya one. Ready to buy a chassis?
  3. I need to pick up a drain plug before I go home from work, so I don't want to have to go measure a drain plug or guess wrong and buy the wrong one. Anyone that can help, I appreciate it.
  4. All of the Chariot products are of excellent quality and precision. I wouldn't think twice about buying Chariot over VF3. I run VF3 in all of mine, but I've had them for years before Chariot was producing them.
  5. Yeah, I've already planned to be at Leerjak this weekend. As far as turbo 4-strokes beating 2-strokes -anything with a turbo seems so damn inconsistent that it would be difficult to make it to the finals at a big race (I know it's been done, just seems that lots of people are just looking for that personal best e.t. and couldn' t care less about winning an actual event.) It may go out and run 3.50s one pass, 3.90s the next pass, maybe even worse on some passes. I've seen it too many times.
  6. 3.9s in 300 ft? I'm very skeptical about that claim. I figure your engine builder (Jeff Ross) has the fastest outlander in the country and it hasn't ran 3.9s. I'm not gonna say it's impossible, just that if Jeff hadn't done it, I figure no one else had. Were you at outlaw sand drags in May?
  7. Please give tire/gearing info and what peak hp rpm was on the dyno.
  8. You could just epoxy the outside of the case if you know exactly where the crack is..
  9. X2. Wouldn't hesistate for a second to run it.
  10. Good to know. I will try them out next time.
  11. Damian Cole (quick16) on Planet Sand is the builder of this chassis. He is building me a ridgid ( I don't live near any dunes.) I'm going to pick it up in the next couple of weeks and I can deliver this chassis for free anywhere along the way from Memphis to New Orleans.
  12. Pics? What needles? Come with cable? For pump or gravity?
  13. I'd say it's a no brainer to not take the top end off. Sit the trans in the bottom case half and hold the crank while lower the top down onto the bottom half upon reassembly. Done it a dozen times. BUT - what kind of leak are you talking about? It's not leaking between the case halves, that's just about impossible for a leak to develop there as long as yamabond was used during assembly. You sure it's not oil from the exhaust - leaking around the pipe o-ring? I'd wanna be 100% sure that the cases were the problem before even pulling the motor.
  14. I've never heard of them (not that that makes them bad.) Most people say to go with Millenium. I think you get what you pay for with the plating. A friend of mine used another shop (freedom? plating, or something like that) and it (the nikasil) was thinner and didn't hold up as long as my millenium plated cylinders. BUT if you find a good place that's cheaper than millenium, let us know. $350 a pop to plate a Cub is steep! Especially when they're only $850 brand new.
  15. Man you'd be changing clutches every few passes without a lockup, imo. I'd say anything over 80hp and drag racing needs one.
  16. TTT This chassis has the best of both worlds...throw on the shaws and hill shoot or drag race at the dunes, put on the strut and wheelie bar and go to the track. We ran a 3.88 in 300ft on this chassis with a 421 Cub on it.
  17. I've been asked it the chassis comes with a-arms - yes it does. All that's needed to make this a roller is axle, wheels and tires. The steering stem, brake pedal, swingarm and a-arms are all chrome. THE BRAKE SETUP IS NO LONGER INCLUDED. I have to keep the brakes for another ridgid chassis I bought. I can either knock off $100 for the brake or throw in a pvl ignition. The chassis has mounts for pvl already on it.
  18. So there is no resistance at all in the lever? It could be that the pressure plate nut fell off, or the ball and push rod have welded. If the ball and rod have welded I would have the previous owner get it fixed. It's not expensive, but it takes a little work - that's bs if he sold it like that. -
  19. This weighed 270 lbs race ready with a 10 mil Cub on board, including wheelie bar. The powdercoat is "starburst" and color shifts from purple to green, with orange metallic flake in it. Looks great in the sun. It's dirty in these pics - I can get some much better pics for those interested. What's included: Chassis, steering stem, tie rods front (tapered) spindles, +12 metal tech no link swingarm, marvin shaws (front and rear), rear strut, wheelie bar and tire, rear brake assembly. (Gas tank, axle, wheels and tires, engine, seat and radiator not included.)
  20. Maybe an FCC thing? They (non resistor plugs) can cause static in radio and tv transmission. Just a long shot guess.
  21. To piggyback on dajogejr's comments about... I'd say you'll suffer from performance loss at any level of riding, my point about the drag racers is purely referring to the fact that the only reason your racing is to win and if you can't deliver power down low before WOT you will lose tenths and that could cost you a win. If your "just" riding around the dunes/trails you can't lose any race that your not in. My original post was intended as more of a warm fuzzy to those that can't afford one or can't borrow one. I wouldn't ride mine without syncing and if you can get your hands on one it's well worth your while. It's one of the easiest Banshee "upgrades" available. In drag racing (on dirt) your always WOT - like Dave said. There is no power to be made at less than WOT. However, I can see where badly unsync'd carbs would affect a run due to one cylinder loading up, or not cleaning out as good as the other in pre stage.
  22. FYI: I don't think the yamaha 450 didn't have fuel injection until at least 2007, not that that matters. The suzuki 450 had it its first year out (maybe 2005 or 06, I don't remember.)
  23. Can you push the slide up any more by hand? It sounds like the slide is all the way up and the cable adjuster on top of the carbs are fine. It's normal for the needle to stay in the jet a little.
  24. My unported 421 (cases not ported either) made 100 hp on alky. It didn't matter if it was pig rich or a little lean, it made about the same peak number. 39 pks. You can't just use hp as a guide for tires or gearing. YOu have to consider chassis weight and dimensions, and of course rider weight.
