  1. I dont think it blew up by washing it. I've seen motors completely submerged in water. One of my buddies got so much water in his banshee that it hydrolocked. We had to take the sparkplugs out, tip it over and run the kickstarted trough to get all the water out of the cylinders. We cleaned the plugs off and dumped a little gas down the cylinders, drained the bowls on the carbs, and it fired right up...he rode it home, changed the tranny oil and cleaned the air fliter. Its been running ever since, and that was about 2 yrs ago. 2 stroke motoers are tough as nails.
  2. I've seen them around.. I'm sure they are a good head. IMO all the aftermarket heads are the same. Pick the one you like the best and run it.
  3. 5mm and 8mm strokers are old school. Everybody is runnin 4mm and 7mm now. the main reason people did away with the 5mm is because you gotta trench the cases. Thats more money for very little gain over the +4mm.
  4. Most people say the T-rex is getting outdated. The Cheetahs have a way better port design. I'd go with the cheetahs if I were you.
  5. Not sure if your talking about a Vito's Hemi Head or not, but thats what I'm running. Who ever told you that the head is only good for 60 over is full of shit. Your prolly suckin air somewhere. Did you make sure to remove all the gasket material from the cases when you put the motor back together. Also make sure your intake gaskets are good. If you have an air leak it will run lean...Does it rev up a lot, and possibly surge on idle?
  6. I second that..... I used Jeffs sync tool at the dunes. Its the Bizzzomb Baby!!!
  7. 02' I think
  8. F.A.S.T. has some very hard running cubs out there.. badbanshee479 has a 421 from him that runs its ass off, along with one of my close friends as well. Jeffs customer service is second to none, and his work is impeccable. The last time we all went to the dunes he took prolly 3hrs out of his day to tune on customers bikes. Not to mention he let me take his carb sync tool back to my camp to work on my carbs. Its not to often you run into a guy like Jeff.
  9. do it!
  10. If you dont care about cost then go with the elkas. But if cost is a factor, the I would go with the works. Works arent the best shocks in the world, but they are better than the stockers. You might also want to check on ebay for some YFZ stock shocks. A lot of people are running the YFZ's and they seem to like them.
  11. I've got a set on my bike. You might want to watch what your buying, most of their a-arm sets aren't made from chromolly like most of the other aftermarket co. Chromolly is a much stronger material than mild steel. I did have a lower arm bend on me once, and received excellent customer sevice as well.
  12. I feel like I should step in here and say that I received excellent customer sevice upon my purchase with switchblade. Not only did he work out a custom color combo for me, but he also did it under a tight time frame. Not only that, he offered to hold back the item at his residence, and install it onto my bike on the way to the dunes...Free of charge. Of course I didn't follow up on his offer, simply because I dont like anyone turning wrenches on my bike but ME. Switchblade seems like a pretty good guy to deal with (from my experience), but someone apparently dropped the ball on this one.. wether it be switchblade, Direct Drive, or Loco I dont know. Either way.. it turned out sour, which kinda sucks for both Loco and Switchblade. Oh yeah, the guy that was yellin at you was saying..."LOCO!!..Eds in here stealin stuff!!" I guess maybe he heard what you said about me...
  13. I would agree with RB. If you into drag, you gonna need at least +8. I got a +6 and I'm losing tons of time off the line trying to keep the front end down.
  14. When installing bigger carbs you must replace the throttle cable with one that is recommended for the size, and brand of carbs your using. The stock length cable is simply not long enough. Also have you tried adjusting the brass fittings on top of the carbs? If the carbs are still opened slightly you will have to screw the fittings all the way in. This will allow the cable to sit closer to the top of the carbs, letting the slides close further.
  15. trial and error
  16. 8x8 rim .125 thickness...the lighter the better
  17. CPI has way more top end....Toomey is a better "all around" pipe tho, it has good top , great mid, with a lot more low end than the CPI.
  18. get the 8's. This fact can not be argued...All drag racers run 8" rims.
  19. ???
  20. I got one...It looks pretty sweet. I got it from switchblade. Only problem I had with it was..there was no gasket on the waterpump. I don't know if its supposed to have one or not, but mine leaked. I made my own gasket and havent had a prob since. Top notch quality on this product. Attention to detail is awsome.
  21. A word of advise...if you gonna remove the cylinder studs, you should try heating the cases up with a torch. 3 other guys removed their studs the same time I did. Two of them broke one off in the cases. I heated mine up and had no troubles, and the other guy had a bike that was only 6mo. old, and he had no trouble at all.
  22. I tried that...studs were too tight. That is the way I usually do it, but it wouldnt work. As a matter of fact that was the only time that method wouldn't work for me.
  23. Dont know what size the cylinder studs are, but I bought some stud removers a while back for my banshee when I was doing my passion motor. I just went to sears and bought a set of craftsman stud removers. The whole kit was only like $30.00 and has like 7 differnt sizes. They worked like a charm!
  24. I run 15/44, with DID ERT chain, it seems to work out really well (same ratio as stock).
