Off Topic But Lets Talk About 383 Strokers
Ducman replied to papa_smurf49319's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Your talking about 2 different motors there, ones a mopar bigblock - bad ass, my dad had a 69 superbee with with a 383, the other is about the most kick ass modified chevy small block you can make, a 350 ci running a crank out of the 400 ci motor. You don't need nitros, with an all roller motor 383 stroker, some high lift cam lobes with steep ass lift angles, monster valve sizes, its gonna friggin rip, 400 hp no problem. You'll want to feed it a lot more fuel than your stock fuel system probably will. Also if you use the stock heads you'll want to port the hell out of them. -
I know fire fighting is you job, but I bet you wouldn't piss on that cops ass if his guts were on fire! Dude! while were in a cop baggin mood, or at least me, my wife got a fix it ticket for having tinted side windows (new lancer EVO) by the same highway patroll officer that gave me a speeding ticket in november INSIDE our gated community! Son of a Bitch! Well, I kinda was speeding but my wifes windows were supposed to be a legal tint for the side windows in CA. He was going the other way and that's the only reason he pulled her over. I guess he's just pulling over all of the sport cars he can in our neighborhood. Cant wait till he shows up on my highway construction site to work one of these days thinking he's going to get a full day of OT and his ass gets sent home with show up pay only! Paybacks a bitch!

For Those Who Dont Read Dirtwheels But Wanna Know
Ducman replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I read the article and I thought it was pretty un biased. However, I'll agree that stock for stock in the sand a YZF 450 will eat any stock banshee even with a good rider. But, like the article said, if you want to go to the extreme with your mods on the banshee you can, and no 4 stroke will even think of beating a properly stroked and ported banshee in a drag. There are always bad ass drag banshees at the dunes that no one can even challange. I believe that is why they gave the banshee the king of the dunes statis, even though they were comparing stock bikes, they threw a little potential into the equation. -
To get the cable off of the side you need to compress the spring, the 2 zip tie trick works great, next turn the slide upside down and the little cable retainer clip that is held in place by the spring will fall right out. Take a look at how it is oriented before removing so you will have a beter Idea of how to put it back. When fixed check the main jeting and richen if needed, never hurts to go a couple sizes larger, also check your compression and make sure the octance is high enough in the fuel you run to support the compression. If your shee ran awsome with the current jetting you may have just simply detonated due to low octane, lean conditions can also bring detonation into the picture as well so it's hard to say which one caused the holes.

Who areyou guys using to ship these motors. Doesn't UPS and Fed Ex Ground have a weight limit of 75lbs and doesn't it get to be too cost prohibitive beyond that? What about shipping the botttom end and the cylinders seperately, might this save $ since both boxes would be within the standard ground shipping weight limits?

Je ponce que oui aussi.

Rockey Mountain does have free shipping on all exhaust systems. E-bay probably has the best prices but chrome looks best when it's new can't wait to get my rockets in the mail! Minkia sells them and has a good price on bear metal pipes, but they are a high rev pipe.

1) Yes, you need 2 new reed petals per cage, 2 cages, so 4 reed petals altogether. 2) With boysen reeds if the reed comes with a small little brass plates (rev plate), one for each petal, each plate has 2 holes in it, and they are approximately 1/4" wide and the lenth of plate = smaller width of the reed, then you remove the curved piece (reed stop) off the stock cage and use the rev plate. If no rev plate is included then use the stock reed stop that comes on the stock reed cage. You are supposed to use blue locktite on the screws that hole the reed and rev plave/reed stops when reassembling.

Damb, haven't done it on the shee, but will put it on my list of things to do!

Well the stroker crank is usually used with porting that complements it. The stoker crank will add a lot more low end and compensate for a port job that is made for more top end so you get loads more power from bottom to top. A new plate and crank goes for about $500 - shortysracing.com. The spacing of the stroker plate + the pistons you use + the added strolke is critical. I'm not anywhere near expert on this, but I believe you usually pick the thickness of the stroker plate you want last based on the added stroke length, longer rod length, and pistons (either standard or 795series), so you would want to make sure your set up is the same that his was to use the plate. As for the longer studs, they are just needed for the cool head because it us thicker, it doesn't have the recesses like the stock head or some other aftermarket heads like the new Noss Head. 21cc domes will be fine on pump gas and the stoker crank wont change the compression ratio. PM PassionRE for some expert stroker crank motor advise and/or service. He is a builder that has done some sweet stroker motors for several HQers.

Uh, Ur, Yeah I done it berfore. I Aint to proud of it, but it works jus fine. Put the oil in and shake it up right away, then put gas in and shake again.

Glad to hear your OK. Well, I guess the brite side is that at least your ride didn't get all banged up. You might want to check out side, I think your wife has a for sale sign on the banshee. J/K They bitch, moan, and chew our ass for doing this crazy shit and they are probably right, but deep down they know that it is in our blood to be doing mach 10 on our death machines and yet they still find a way to keep loveing our dumb asses. Nothings more important than our families and thier well being, but if it wern't for riding the banshee then you'd be more like couchpotatoish rather than sredish. It's part of what makes us feel alive and fuels our ambitions. Hope to see you back in the saddle soon, that is if Mrs. Sredish will let you come out and play? -
I run a 100 octane unleaded fuel made by 76. The 100 octane definitly won't hurt anything but it won't really make a difference in performance either at least in the short run. I ran it before and after I put the 20cc domes in. I started running it in my Duacti before that even though my compression really only required pump gas. I noticed that is burns soooo much cleaner and leaves way less soot in my pipes which I think is good to keep the combustion chamber, piston, pipes and anything the fuel or exhaust gasses touch much cleaner. It is way more stable and has a long shelf life than pump gas. Pump gas leaves a heavy thick black soot, the 100 left a lighter grayer soot and way less of it. My banshee's pipes are clean as hell, you can stick your finger in the silencer and you wont get a drop of oil or barely any soot on your finger. I also think it is good to protect against detonation in the situation where you start running real hot and/or a bit lean. If you are on the border line of neading higher octane and that happens your pistons are done with the higher octane you'll be fine; cheap insurance against detonation. In CA the 100 octane that I buy stays at $3/gal and doesn't fluctuate price while pump 91 is up to at least $2.40/gal so it's an easy choise for me.

Damb that sucks. I just want to say that sredish is one of the most sincere and curtious guys on this forum and I guarentee that there isn't one person in here that has ever had anything bad to say about him. He is a very knowledgeable and helpful person and believe me, because of those 1800 posts there are hundreds of banshees that were running like crap and now rip due to his helpful advise. Thanks for letting us know and I hope he recovers quickly and can post here again soon. Thanks Zack

Sand stars get way more traction in both straight line acceleration and turning. They are way better, really no comparison in my opinion.

BSB - You better go look out the window and make sure they aren't still watching you. You know the people in the gray van down the road. If you twist up some tinfoil and make some good antennas the mother ship might be able to locate you. Did you uncover the conspiracy with the oil corporations and the local police and the beef famers injecting secret homones into the cows and the genetically engineered crops which once consumed can exibit mind controll over you. Yeah, they know you found out. You may want to hide before it's too late. They want to extract your DNA and clone you so they can kill the real you and the clone you will conform to the new society of drones. You might want to do this before it's too late. Hurry! I think they are comming! WTF are you on? Is it fun stuff or does it just make you paranoid. Heres some advice, stick to the things that can be grown and beer. Hard alcohol might make you a little crazy. If it comes in a powder form, stay away from it. Repeat after me: Green stuff good, white stuff bad! Some drugs can scramble your egg and are just bad Umkay? -

I'm going to have to agree with Stealth on this one, brokestoned sounds like the cops grabbed your stash and now your just jaded. I'm not trying to dis ya, it happend to me and I was, now I'm over it. Just syaing your not being very objective. The robber should get penalized with manslaughter. Lets say that the robbers were shooting at the cops, the cops were shooting back and a stray bullet hits someone from either the cops or the robbers. It's the robbers fault. If the cops are doing what is reasonable, acting according to policy and not way out of line, then other negative consequences of the actions become the liability of the robbers since it happended as a result of the robbers actions in the first place. If the cops is acting in accordence with what he is supposed to do then he can not be held liable, otherwise how is he supposed to do his job? In my opinion it sounds like the high speed persuit is justified since they were armed and dangerous and likey to do more harm than the cops speeding, just didn't turn out good and the odds went the wrong way. It's hard to say if the lady could have seen the cop comming at such a high speed but like it was mentioned, common sense says another cop is probably comming and she should have waited. I've seen some soccer moms do some pretty dumb shit in my highway construction traffic controll, like follow a AC haul truck that is in the middle of the traffic Q right onto the windrow of hot asphalt and get the minivan high centered. -

Don't even think of sending money Western Union. He may try to convence you to wire the money to him and keep the Transaction # a secret to yourself sort of like an escrow account and release it when you get the goods. Don't do it! As soon as the transaction clears, the money is out of your account and into Western Unions, he can get the money by just providing his ID to the Western Union and if the money was sent in his name he can get it W/O the ransaction #. The only thing the transaction # is for is so that the other person can claim the money immediatly and not wait untill it clears. I would say that it is a 90% chance that it is a scam, but the only way to make sure is to send the money paypal. You should be able to get the money back from paypal if it is a scam but it may be a hastle. I don't think I would do it without an escrow service. If he says now that he wont or cant accept paypal, leave bad feedback immediatly report him to e-bay and forget him, you'll be protecting other people from a potential scam and I doubt you'll get bad feedback. If you do you should be able to get it taken off if it is a scam or hyjacked account. Good luck! -
Go to Toomey's Website . Go to the FAQ sectoion and read the answer to the question about "There is a "rich spot" between 4000 and 5000 rpm on the Banshee....." It gives some interesting info on tuning the intake tract concerning sonic waves and why it can be helpful to lengthen the intake tract. The article has more to do with the tube comming up to the carb rather than the tract from the carb to the cylinder where the reed spacer would go, but it is similar in pricipal. I think depending on a particular carb, porting, piston stroke, and reed setup in front of the cylinder it can sometimes make a real difference and sometimes not, unlike the boost bottle/ placebo/ sugar pill. It's one of those things that you have to just try on your setup to see if it helps any, and probably run back to back dyno tests to show if there is a difference. Reed spacers pobably make more of a diference on big carbs, drag porting and when adding more stroke on the crank. Similar to velocity stacks on a V-8 drag car motor. Don't take my word for fact, just the misc garbage stored in my head and pulled outta my ass.
