If you have also added timing, I would go 1/2 & 1/2 with 20cc domes (approx 100 octane) and probably straight 104-110 with 19cc domes. If no added timing then probably 93 pump gas or 1/2&1/2 with 19cc domes would do. I personally always ran 100 octane with 20cc domes just to be safe.

will a few wot runs be too much with these jets?
Ducman replied to BigDaddyK's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I'd run it. Check the plugs, but I bet your right where you want to be at those temps with the stock filter and lid on. I ran 260 mains down to 50 degrees, sealevel, with FMF's stock filter, lid on, snorkel off and it was just a tad lean, but nowhere near piston melting lean. -
We'll I'd rather be loading something else at 4:20 rather than pics, but thats just me. I think you will find that the needle will most likely be way to rich or lean for the shee, actually probably all the jetting. The question is can you find a needle, pilot and main to make your shee run right? Are they readily availabe to order for those carbs in the size you need, which you don't know yet. If yes, then I suppose it may work as long as they will fit a typical 34mm intake manifold boot and the carbs are not too big on the bowl dimension to clear the clutch arm.

I think the dyno can find and/or almost create flat spots in your HP curve because the dyno puts a different load on your motor than what it sees when you are riding. You cant spin the wheels when on the dyno which I think a fast spin-up of the motor can help it create more HP. Its like if you have a fast car, doing 50mph, you don't shift down and just roll on the throttle and hold it on untill you max out your speed. Even the last part of the acceleration in that gear isn't going to feel anywhere near as fast as if you had been coming up through the gears hard and shifted hard into that gear. When I did my dyno runs we could do things like start real high in the RPM range and slip the clutch and it would show a much higher max HP than if your started at 2500 rpm and rollled into it. I found that the results were very repeatable between runs, numbers just drop a bit as the motor gets hotter. Your first or second pull should get the best numbers. Bassically I wouldn't read too much into the dip in the HP curve on the CPI's. It may be something that can only be seen on the dyno or looks worse on the dyno and isn't even noticed when actually riding. I think a seat of the pants test may determine if what the dyno shows is real and accurate. But I think the test was a fair and accurate comparison and did show that Rockets put out a better HP number than CPI (at least on Loco's motor). And two different pipes will not both respond the same to one specific set of mods and porting.

Rumor of the last banshee and blasters
Ducman replied to thegroup's topic in General Banshee Discussion
2 strokes will live forever, just not on the show room floor. -
Make sure that the boot has some flexability in the ankle up and down (not side to side though) or you wont be able to shift. Some people can get used to a stiff mx style boot made for a 2 wheel dirt bike, most cant, I hated a pair of Fox boots I bought so bad I gave them away. I bought a pair of Sidi street bike boots, so incredibly comfortable.

Get a mean ass Locogato! J/K Maybe lots and lots of rat poison, and some arsenic laden cheese. A feed/ farm supply store should probably carry some effective rodent bait.

The only way I could see that being true is if they were heated up to a lot higher temp than 400 degrees and cooled off very fast.

For $3K you could pick up a nice about 97'-99' cbr, gsxr, zx6-r, R-6 with about 15k miles. There fun as hell and I probably wouldn't reccomend buying a new one for your first bike anyway. If it turns out crotch rockets are something your really interested in, you date some japanese bikes for a while, and decide you want to stay into bikes, then you can go get married to something Red and Italian, the last bike you'll ever buy. When it's no longer about just going fast and getting crazy and you want a machine that you will never stop appreciating.

Jesus loves you! Everyone else thinks your and asshole! I'm not getting on your case holy, just thought it was a funny bumpersticker that came to mind when I read this thread. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand some of the flamers that you see on TV nowadays, but if the bible says they are all going to hell, the need to re-write that shit again. I had good a friend that I knew all through highschool which was before he ever came out of the closet and I never had the first clue that he was gay. He was raised the same as anyother boy and had a younger brother that was straight. I'm sure that I would have probably grew up with much more of a prejudice if I hadn't known this guy. He seemed normal to me accept he had more hot chick friends than usual which was even better. Also I got the impression that his sexual preference was much more nature than nurture. He wanted to fit in and be the same thing as everyone else, except for whatever reason was attracted to dudes. He couldn't explain why he liked sausage rather than taco, it was just the way it was. So, I guess that I'd say that you shouldn't judge or condem a man or woman untill you've walked a mile in their shoes. I'm not suggesting that you try getting a little ass lovin, but understand that its not always a conscious descision that a homosexual or bisexual makes.

Well, I had my wife and myself on the YFZ up to the top of 5th gear on the beach sand at Horse Falls OR, probably just under 400lbs between the 2 of us, mostly my fat ass. The YFZ is a bit lower geared in the top end than the banshee and the Honda, but If you were on flat hard ground I'm sure you could pull 80+ easy if you were geared for it.

PM dlnoss = David Noss makes the NOSS head. He makes an excellent banshee head and is very helpful with anything from common questions to custom dome applications and has excellent customer service. Makes me feel good about spending $ when I'm buying parts from a guy like Noss.

You east coasters are gonna hate this

Damb, I'm in NorCal and I'm jellous! It's foggy and 50 here. -
Thats the 2 stroke oil thats in your fuel that eventually gets vaporized and comes out the exhaust, hence the blue smoky 2 stroke exhaust. Your fine, as long as you don't see actual puffs of exhaust comming out. The rubber o-rings inside the pipe flange is supposed to seal the pipes against the cylinder exhaust port but are notorious to leak on some pipes.. Some use high temp silicon inside the pipe along with the o-ring to help seal them, or it might do the truck by just replacing the orings if they are old. Doesn't hurt to check the gear oil level but it's not what you are seeing.

Difference between sparkplugs B8ES vs BR8ES?
Ducman replied to richybanshee's topic in Product Reviews
It may be all in my head but it sure seams like I get a longer service life and better performance towards the end of the life with non-resistor B8ES. The only plug that I have had develop a miss because it was apparently worn out even though it looked good was a BR8ES, probably just by coincidence. If I rode my bike back to back with either plug I'm sure there wouldn't be a noticeable difference. -
It doesn't need a spacer plate to be a 4mm stroker. The only way I know how to tell for sure by looking at it is to take the head off and look at the #'s on the pistons. If its a 4mm long rod crank it should have 795 series pistons so the # on the pistons will contain the # 795 and the piston size, probably 64.5mm = 06450 or 65.0 = 06500. Also if it doesn't have a spacer plate it will have custom cut domes so if you look at the undersides of the domes side by side with standard domes you will see the there will be an approx 2mm larger lip before the squish band begins rather than the sqish band nearly comming to the bottom of the dome. The piston top will also come 2mm above the top of the cylinder.

I don't see any advantage in the CPI's comming on earlier because they are dipping a lot worse from 5K to 6.5K and the rockets come on at about 6K so the power actually comes on earlier with the rockets. The curve below that doesn't mean much becase your only at 15 hp or so the differences are neglidgeable. In this case Rockets are clearly better in every aspect on Loco's motor. But like we've already seen, it can go either way between CPI and Rockets depending on the motor.
-
Just curious is this SAE HP #'s or actual HP measured? Anybody that looks at a pair of chromed out Rockets and says their ugly is full of shit. CPI's and Rockets both look nice and somwhat similar. I dynoed last weekend and everybody was drooling over the rockets. Most people guess or ask if they are CPI. My dyno experience was kinda crappy though. The banshee pattern rims with dyno tires were jacked up so I had to use stock nobbies and it was kinda pointless because the tires would shake and smoke soo bad that I dont think the top of the curve was any where near accurate. Anyway my curve looked more like the CPI curve with a cammel hump at the top with one peak at around 9K and another a bit higher at 11K but I think that the second peak may have been when the tire shake smoothed out. My tires were smoking and sredded by the end of the dyno session. I thought about it later but it I should have put a bunch more air in the tires to stiffen them up. If you have to strap the bike down real hard and the tire squish real bad, then the tires want to grow in dia by about 3 - 4 inches but there all bound up so they shake because they are forced to be all out of round and the nobbies get all bound up. I only hit 57 HP SAE but the builder/owner of the dyno said that it was loosing at least 5hp from the tires. The sniffer was working to check the jetting though which was my main objective and they were good, just slightly lean at between 13:1 to 13.8:1. I didn't mess with jettng or timing because I was comming off a long night shift and there were a bunch of people behind me. The YFZ 450's getting full systems jetted in were only getting about 42-43hp so I didn't feel too bad.

What pilots, needle clip position, airbox lid on or off? Change spark plugs lately?
-
Is it too late for this one?
-
That kind of service pisses me off. If you can cancel the order and refund through them it is a little less messy than going through your card because it the charges are reversed they can still send the parts even after the dispute and put the charges back on your card.

discovery point campground - best spot ?
Ducman replied to bigtreads's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Discovery point is by far my favorite camp ground to ride out of because it is right on the doons so you dont have to ride your quad down the path along side the road for 1/2 mi.. They have fairly long pull through spots with full hookups. My dads 34'-36' motorhome with a 14' utility trailer easily fit in the spot. It is also pretty close to the peer so you can go crabbing too. -
I friggin love this song. It is off of their alblum "End of all things to come." I hear it on the radio but not enough. I've never listened to one of their alblums but I think there pretty hard like say slip knot. I can dig some hard shit if its good stuff and not just a bunch of pissed off rockers makeing a bunch of noise. Anybody got this alblum, do you like it, is there a few good songs to make it worth my dinero?

I second banchettas choises, ptr mids - one of the best looking pipes imo, and then FMF SST's. In my experience with rockets on a stock port motor as long as you stay in slightly higher rpms when cruising around you won't miss any bottom end, just tons more mid and top. If you are just putting around and suddenly give it a bunch of throttle you will get a little bit of lag getting on the pipe down low in the R's compared to FMFs. If your riding in wide open places then a top end pipe will kick ass but if you are in super tight terrain in 1rst and 2nd gear alot then a bottom end pipe will make riding the shee a lot more simple. I have seen package deals where you save a fair amount of $'s from buying a bunch of stuff at once, so you may do good going that route. Rocky mountain has free shipping on all exhaust if you just want pipes, no package deal.
