I'll be there camping out in the dunes near Sweet Maries off Gecko. Can't miss it, not many people out there and I've got a bright ass yellow Xterra that can be seen from space. Spotting my camp from the drags should be easy enough if you just look towards hwy. 78.

Demon, sorry we missed ya. Left early on Friday hoping to catch you before you left but the trailer had a blow out in El Centro so we spent the night there. We ended up getting to Glamis around 9am and met up with Travis, Todd, and gang. Maybe next time!

I hope you don't mean from me, I'm an old school paddler. The Tekno is my 2nd WW boat, first one was a perception Whiplash (voted 3rd worst boat ever made). I just got the Tekno so all my moves are circa 1997:pirouettes, endos, squirts, etc. I seriously considered getting an air 55 but the tekno is supposedly better for surfing and one popped up at such a good price I couldn't pass it up. Right now I desperately need fins for it as the winter swells are starting to pick up here in Cali. I can hold an edge pretty good up to 6 foot but anything more and the ass starts to slip out. Last thing you want on an 8 footer is to lose your edge and spin around to face the wave. I've heard that Riot sucks with customer service so I'm halfway debating just installing surf fin boxes so I can use regular surf fins. More expensive but better than having to depend on Riot to supply my fins everytime I break one.

Dude screw that! Just go to the local grocery store and pick up some of that fake spiderweb decoration that people adorn their porches with every halloween. Stretch that stuff all over the Shee and voila, creepy scary spiderweb Banshee. For an added bonus you could get some of those little plastic spiders to stick on the web.

Well the orgy isn't really coming together so we'll probably be there too. Off in the dunes near Gecko.

Ya I do. I paddled 30 miles of open ocean in a tandem sea kayak to a coastal island this past summer. Also I've got a Riot Tekno that I mostly use for surfing since here in Southern California we don't have very good WW. What are you paddling?

Get a clymer's manual.

Unfortunately I can't. The lil wifey has school and won't get home till about 4:30. I could leave then, but the traffic would be awful so I prolly wouldn't get there till 11 or something ridiculous. I'm planning to leave around 830-9pm since I'm coming off of night shifts.

Is the Banshee leaving the stable? I dunno yet...

Having both I can tell ya that the 450 is a great quad. For certain things I think I actually prefer it. On tight, steep, technical trails that I'm lucky to make it into 2nd gear the 450 is really nice. But getting out in the open it just doesn't give you the same ear to ear grin that the banshee delivers. -
SWEET! But sounds like I'm gonna miss ya on Friday. Oh well, maybe next time. Hey Demon, what's the deal with the gecko drags? Are they always at the same time?

I'll be in Glamis this weekend from LATE Friday night till sometime Sunday afternoon. I'll be camping out in the dunes near sweet maries. Prolly about 200 yds out from the 78/gecko intersection. Yellow xterra, white enclosed trailer. I'll be there with some other people I work with but stop by if you're out there.

Exact same thing happened to me. Well pretty close anyway. I was riding dunes a little too fast and I came up on a small dropoff that turned out to be pretty big. Basically I froze up instead of staying loose so when I landed I pitched forward and my foot slipped off the peg. Fortunately it landed on the nerf and I rode it out. But what happened to you flashed through my mind. Nerfs have saved my feet so many times its scary.

Its our backup plan. If we can't find anything better to do we're going to Glamis.
-
Yup we're a cult...so why are you so damned interested in joining?
-
Yes there is a Halloween and yes there is a Glamis. And probably, Glamis will still be there on Halloween.

Do you drag Nug? I'd say that if you find that you're losing drags cuz you can't keep your wheels on the ground then get an extended. If your just duning and like to be able to pop up the front end on a whim like I do, then keep what you've got.

I'm just amazed that he was straight enough at one time to even have a gf!

Building your own A-arms and swingarm
Wallrat replied to jeepman380's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I've been thinking about building a swingarm for awhile now. I would think that at least for the a arms, getting your hands on a set of aftermarkets and building a jig off of them would be the way to go. -
I want to start playing the guitar
Wallrat replied to roosthrower's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I taught myself on an accoustic. Basically if you can make it past 4 weeks you'll probably keep at it. The first 2 weeks will kill your fingers and everything you TRY to play will sound like shit. It's very discouraging. The next 2 weeks your fingers will still be sore but you'll be able to kinda strum some really simple tunes. Unfortunately, the entire 3rd and 4th week you basically won't see any progress and you'll feel like you've plateaued. After that you'll start learning to actually play. I agree with getting what you like the sound of. Electric's are slightly easier to play but an accoustic with 'light' strings isn't terribly hard either. Unless your a big fan of flamenco guitar, you'll be wanting to get one with steel strings (flamenco or classical guitars have nylon strings). Having an accoustic that responds to every mistake is a blessing IMO, it teaches you to play right and doesn't let you start any bad habits. I didn't take a class until I'd been playing a couple of years, and that was just so I could learn how to read sheet music. The net is full of tablature or 'tabs' for every song you'd ever like to learn. Some sound quite good on a solo guitar, others...not so much (house of the rising sun by the animals and lots of nirvana songs are great for learning). Tabs are the simplest form of writing music. Its nothing like the crap you have to learn for the piano. Tabs have 6 lines, representing the 6 strings of the guitar. If there's a number on the line, you play the corresponding string on the guitar, fretted at the same # fret (just do a search on how to read tablature...i'm a shitty teacher). I dunno about the bass. Its very similar to learning the guitar. In fact I can pick up a bass and do pretty well actually even though I never learned any music specifically for the bass. The only thing I will say, a solo bass just doesn't sound very good IMO. Too 80's for me. -
cool head 21cc dome w/ pump gas

There's your answer right there. dlNoss makes some of the best ones out there. -
I personally don't like the feel of the extended swingarm for general duning. I've ridden from a -2 up to a +4 in the dunes and for the power I'm putting out, stock is pretty decent.

I got mine off Kazaa. Course I had to get a few viruses before I found the legitimate program.

I gotta try and squeeze the wife into that toddler shirt. Seriously...where's the chamois shirts or whatever they're called?

We used Miracle Grow on the baseball field saying "f*ck SHS". You could still make it out for years.
