  1. Forgot the timing I usally run plus4. Noss has a chart on their web site if remember right 19cc runs about 170 psi at sea level. So I might have a set of 19cc dome forsale or trade. I will wait and put it togather and check the compression.
  2. I'm finally getting around to building a engine for a roller I bought a year ago. I bought most of the parts from the members here. I have used cases new trued and weled crank, wiseco pistons 65.5mm fresh bore on the cylinders pro circuit pipes (Fatties) Single 33 PKW carb and a Pro design cool head that came with 19cc domes. This is my question are the domes to small for a basic trail bike running at about 600 ft sea level. I would like to run pump gas. I run 927 castor for oil. Where is the best place to get new orings for the cool head. Thanks Tim
  3. Just to make things clear. I'm noT going to do any work on my pistons and it was not the people at the shop it was some guy that was there picking some parts up.
  4. I have been here since 2003 and never heard anything like this, I'm not going to start grinding on new pistons!!!!!!!!!!! We just ride trails we do not need the fastest machine just a good dependable one.
  5. He was telling me to grind notches in my new wiseco pistons.
  6. Took my new pistons and cylinder to a new shop to get the cylinders bored. Started discussing banshee mods porting and such. One of the guys in the shop tells me you need to put the motor togather with out the head and when the piston is all the way down see if the port openings are completely open if not mark the piston and take it back apart and grind the top of the piston in the area that was marked until you get all the ports completely open. He said it is usually 1mm or less So he saying to notch the top of the pistons so you get full flow . I really do not want to grind on a brand new set of pistons. So what do you guys think? Is he crazy or what. Thanks Tim
  7. Castor 927 32/1 and have never had a engine failure.
  8. Dam those 2 into 1 make some hp and torque too. Thats why I like em.
  9. They are installed with red loctite. You have to use heat to get them out.
  10. You need a bore guage to check your cylinders. You need to measure 3 places the same direction as the piston pin and three places 90 degree's to the pin. This will give you the taper of the cylinders and tell you if they are out of round. Clymers manual spec,s Taper limit .05mm or .002 in. Out of round .01mm or .0004 in. I have also been told you should not buy pistons to fit cylinders because each pistons is different. You should buy pistons and have the cylinders bored to them.
  11. Two strokes forever four strokes never. Grew up on 2 stroke bikes got a Quadracer in 1986 then a banshee when they came out. Then when I heard the first one with a two into one pipe I was hooked for ever. They sound great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! better than any thumper. Mine do not look great but are well maintained and there is nothing better than having some snot nosed kid come along on his 450 his daddy bought with the muffler off sounding loud and shitty and want to race and have 46 year old fat ass hand him is ass.
  12. I have a single Lectron on mine it is great. I have only needed parts once since 03 and got them from Fast by Gast. One phone call and had my parts few days later.  Tim
  13. Are you sure on the size of the pistons the box indicates they are 65.5mm. I might be interested if they are. Thanks Tim
  14. It seem's that is true. But it's like buying a car Chevy,Ford , Dodge , Honda & Toyota sooner or later your going to have a bad experience. Just get over it and move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Freeze the new one over night it will push right in.
  16. It could be many things.Crank out of spec, just plain bearing failure, fly wheel problem, lack of lubrication , jetting?????? Bottom line check everything when rebuilding and do not cut corners to save money it will only cost more to do it again.
  17. The right fly wheel puller do not use a gear puller it will ruin the fly wheel.
  18. Replace the cable!!!!!!!!!! I have had clutch problems and come to find out it is the cable. Get a twist throttle it works better than thumb throttle. I bet that will start some shit.
  19. Not a banshee oh shit but it applies. April 04 I crashed my cr500 punctured lung, broken ribs, collar bone broke in three places and my shoulder all on the left side. About six weeks into my recovery my wifes Explorer check engine light comes on we take to a local parts store( I'm still not allowed to drive) to have them read the code. Oxygen senors are bad so we buy them she's bitchin the hole time that I can not work on it so I tell her I will get my brother or a friend to do it. She leaves for work using my truck I go out to the garage get the wrenches and creeper get under the car pull on the wrench something pops in me. I dam near pass out finally get my shit togather roll the creeper out and I can not get up I laid there a couple of hours finally make it back to the house she been calling to check on me and new where I was she was pissed. Pulled some ribs apart the doc said it set me back a few weeks in my recovery. Broken ribs suck!!!!!!!!!!! it is the most pain I have ever had you can't do anything breath, laugh, sneeze or fart.
  20. We use to index plugs on our stock car and this was suggested by the engine builder (Baker Engineering)as some hp gains but I can not remember what the dyno showed. We did not use shims we would go thru plugs to find the ones that worked .
  21. I don't like to debate such things but I have yet to find a 450 that can come close on the track or a flat out drag race. Yes I know the suspension is better i would like to do a conversion some day to a 450 frame. Which brings me to my point how does Service Honda get 10 to 12 grand for a CR500AF and there is a waiting list or used to be before the economy crashed. Thanks Just my 2 cents
