I just installed the 17 also ... it went on fine...However YES the stock chain was way too tight to ride...We tired to add a link to it but then it was too much...It would not get within range....What size/type of chain do you use with the 17? Also what rears are u runnin ....
-
Ok, im going to try it again....I already took off the front sproket since I am going up a few sizes.......Is it easier if its sitting on the sproket? I can hook it up to the rear sproket if thats better.....
-
Cool, but yes I would like to reuse it if possible..Just want to oil it overnight.....Did not think it was so tough to remove it....

Ok, need to remove chain to clean...Got the clip off, but the link wont come apart? Have tried to pull it but its not moving...Looks as if the ends of the pins are bigger than the hole on the link?

Would Changing Gear Sizes On My Shee Help
Banshee0028 replied to sandbanshee1818's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Question about tire sizes and gearing.....I am currently running 14/41 "stock" but with 18's ITP in the rear! Have decent mods.....Question is will I loose any bottom end going up to say a 17 but keeping the 18's tires in the rear? I am not MX'g yet, and know I can always change back, but want to be able to drag other quads and keep the powerband as good or better as it is now .... Ideas? -
Banchetta, so are you saying that a leaner jetting setting can compensate for a richer mixture without any other effects? I know a bit about mixture from my RC days But there has to be an optimal setting somewhere? I don't think you should run 100:1 and jet it real rich????

Im running 32:1 with Amsoil Synt. Series 2000 racing oil... HOWEVER the oil states its "ideal for" 50:1 I like the quality of this oil and their reputation!! Anyone run this oil with a different ratio ???????????

I just want to know how all those who claim 100+ mph are determining your speed? Guessing, estimating, Gearing-Calculation, riding next to someones car, track, speedo, cop ticket or what? I know many here are running that fast, but others who say they go 120mph without stating how they determined their speed seem doubtfull I heard it takes ALOT to hit a true 100+ mph ... Esp on pump gas and 350 cc.....Im not doubting .......Just trying to quantify the #'s

Update: Went out and FINALLY got the outside axle bolt off!!!!! Took a while but it broke loose and was going good. Then I went to tighten the insidie one. It turned about 2-3 complete turns ..I think that was prolly too many...BUt anyways, before this the brake caliper and sproket where both moving...left to right etc. After tightening the inside nut, they dont move at all, and the axle seems to spin smoother too. However while tightening the inside nut, it seemed to turn then come to a "stop" and would not turn any more! The problem is that there is still some play in the axle....But the sproket and brake caliper are both tight. So, since the axle is spinning good, I hear NO noise that I can tell is not normal, the sproket and calpier are both tight, the inside nut seemed to come to a "stop" and would not tighten any more, BUT the axle still seems to move a little.. Any ideas

Pressing Throttle While Starting Cold?
Banshee0028 replied to Banshee0028's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I think next time Im gonna kick it W/O touching the gas until it cranks Thanks -
Cool...I guess for $12 its woth it

How many of you actually have one of these? I know the purpose of it is "just in case" some small particle of metal is running around in there it will attach to the mag drain plug instead of getting in the gearing..... I guess the only way of telling if its really working is seeing if there are any metal pieces on it when draining the oil.... Does anyone who uses these mag drain plugs ever see any metal peices attached to the drain plug when changing their gear oil

What Stock Quads Will Be A Banshee?
Banshee0028 replied to ninjamaster's topic in General Banshee Discussion
IMO I think a YFZ 450 and a DS650 WILL beat a stock Shee from what I have seen/heard......HOWEVER, once a Shee has a few mods to it it starts to take the lead and will usually WIN..... I have heard that the ds650's are a tough race even for a modded Shee....Anyone want to add to this?????? Both these quads are pretty close all around to a Shee...Hope that helps -
Well, I think mine is actually doing the same.....Makes a loud "thunk" going into gear sometimes when hot. My gear oil is clean too.... I am thinking it has something to do with the clutch since sometimes I push in the clutch to push the Shee around and its "stuck in gear"! Even with the clutch pulled it wont move. Then once i finally get it in N it seems to work again GOtta figure out what that is?!!!!!

Hey fixit...Actually I have not started it yet....Found the rear axle loose...Gonna tighten it up this weekend and see if the bearings are ok. If so then I will start on some higher gearing....Will keep you posted

I KNOW those things are HEAVY!!!! Its funny cause its got twice the cc's..... lol

Ok, was ridding this weekend at ONF and meet some nice peoples on some brand new Kawi twin 700's!! Were pretty nice ... but They are FULLY AUTO!!! Anyways, I am pretty sure I will whomp them, just want to get some opinions.... 01 SHee, new top-end, Balanced Crank, FMF, PCII, 18 Holeshots, CoolHead w/domes....etc.....

Cool
-
Thanks ..... Will tighten them up as tight as they will go If I have to remove the axle I will order the bearings first..... Link looks good
-
Ok, simple question: When the Shee is cold (First crank of the day) is it a good idea to hit the gas a few times before starting it? OR pressing it while kicking it over? I always use the full choke when cold, just did not know if I should also be pressing the throttle while kicking? Also, when NOT pressing the gas, it seems to crank over more, But maybe thats cause for the 1st couple kicks I pressed the gas

Yes the sproket does move a little...So I guess I need to tighten the axle nuts..I will first loosen the outside one and try to tighten the inside one first.... Question: how tight should I tighten these? Also, I might take the rear axle off if there are any further problems....I like the idea of putting in new bearings/grease !!! Where would be a good place to get the bearings? Dealer, or online somewhere? THanks
-
How would I check these? Take them apart somehow I will check the axle nuts first...
-
Ok, had the Shee up off the ground to clean/oil the chain and spin the tires .....Seemed like the rear axle had some play in it. I found that the sprokets and the whole axle move a bit from left to right... Not sure if any slack is OK?? Maybe this is the bearings going bad?? I hope not.....Zerks fully lubed since I bought it... Ideas .....

Anyone Runnin 18's In The Rear?
Banshee0028 replied to Banshee0028's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks .... I am guessing the rear sproket is stock...What size is that? 42? So increase to a 15 in the front and a 40 in the rear? Question: What is the difference between increasing one size in the front and going down one in the rear? IK guess its more "precise" changing the rear also since the front would be bigger "jumps"?
