What can I use to make a trail
bigboybanshee replied to Holyman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
My friend and I go through this every time we ride these trails that ride along an expressway...What works best for us, although it can be a little work we bungee tie a hatchet to the rear grab bar and when we come across obstacles we just chop it out. Never seems to hold us up more than 5 minutes or so. We have been talking about how nice it would be to have like a battery powered mini chainsaw that could easily be strapped down and doesn't weigh much...we'd go anywhere we wanted -
with all these atv deaths how about a survival

OMG, glad you're OK! Geeeez man, I bet they were lookin at ya kind of funny pulling up to the hospital on your banshee! That was smart though, getting help ASAP. Hope you recover well, sounds pretty nasty -
Thanks for the responses guys! Wallrat, that's kinda what I'm doing with the exception of the DV Camcorder. I bought one of those bullet cams for the helmet and I run my camcorder in the backpack..Bring it home and hook the camcorder up through the capture card and import my video. My main problem is just making a video small and keeping the quality as well. I think my best bet from reading these posts and from the experiences I'm having, I just need to go out and get a DV cam...probably the same one you guys are recommending. I'm going to try and get my hands on a few more programs to try out before I break it down and get another camcorder; I really hope I can find a cheaper alternative!!! I got some pretty cool footage I'd like to be able to share

lol, I know what you mean!!! I appreciate your help though...makes plenty of sense. I'll go home and play with the windows moviemaker a little more...if it works hopefully you'll be seeing the results! Thanks again for the help!

I have a Hi-8 cam, it's the Sony trv-917...It has an s-video hookup but I don't think that would make much difference as far as capturing goes. I do have the dazzle capture card which wasn't the "best" out there; when I bought it I was using a really cheap camera so the high quality hardware wasn't needed. Do you recommend I get a better capture device? Would that help in getting better sizing on the vids? I really appreciate your help on this CombatTalon, this issue has been driving me nuts!!! Oh, and the setting for the vids would be nice...THANKS!!

There were two kids in my neighborhood that died on labor day due to a crash on their ATVs....from what the news said they had a head on collision going extremely fast...and of course, no helmets on either one. Sounded to me like they were playing chicken or something; the area they were riding on was a wide open field. WTF

I was just curious to know what you guys use to make videos of riding and such on your computer...I've been using this program made by Dazzle called Moviemaker5 which works great it just makes the file size freakin huge. I tried using Windows moviemaker2 but it doesn't like capturing the video from my capture card...Also another concern is when I make a video and shrink it to a reasonable download size, the quality is absolute shit...I keep seeing these videos that are fairly small and good quality and I just want to know what you use if you're not having issues like mine. I have some helmet cam footage on my shee that I'd like to share with you guys but I don't think you wanna download a 50-70MB file Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

It's funny you mentioned that because my family has a small RV with all the good stuff inside (bathroom, sink, microwave, fridge, etc) and I was thinkin of maybe bringing it with a trailer on the back but didn't know if there was a place I could hook it up to when parked and still run everything...it has a generator but I don't know how long that sucker lasts. It could definitely come in handy for keeping the brews cold and a cozy place to drop the kids off in the pool -

I plan to ride up there with Big Blue, so I suppose I'll be camping in the same area he is.... -
Glad to hear you made it OK, I remember you were askin if we thought your shee would hold up!! Did you happen to get any pics from the ride? 100 miles...man, that is a LONG way!!!

they only carry 91 thought id rather fill up here with 93 and save a few bucks at the same time, gas always seems to cost more there. Amen to that one... -

if you have any extra cans try to bring them if you have room, once you get over this way you can fill them here with 93 and put them on my trailer i should have some room left. Big Blue, you da man! I suppose I'll bring an extra 5 gallon gas container or two....I don't use race gas and leaving the dunes to head into town to get more sounds like it could be a hassle. Just under two months to go!!!!! -

That's awesome...I was hoping that it wouldn't be flooded with people in fear of not having a spot to camp. I keep reading about Sandfest and hear spots are full by the Wednesday before! That's nuts! I'm still hoping to make it there on that Thursday (21st) and I plan to be calling you Big Blue to arrange a meet...Forgive me for askin this but after my 5 gallon jug of gas runs out, where do I get more? Is there a pump nearby? Never been to the dunes, this is all new to me -

Is there gonna be any kind of "event" going on at LS during the 22nd-24th or is it just a peachy time to ride? No reason for asking, just curious.... -

No doubt! I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you...that's gonna fun just in its own -
I think they fit pretty good...back fenders went on without a hitch, nice and clean. The ONLY thing about them is the front nose piece right below the gas tank shroud sits up a little high, causing the tank shroud to sit higher up. But they still look great and I'm very pleased about the plastics, since I got them I can't stop buying more for the shee, give me a week or so and see what it looks like, lol, I've caught the disease http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32876

This is a shot in the dark but maybe a broken reed(s)? There is a leakdown test you can do to check your crankcase, have you checked your compression?
-
Definitely take it off and get a brake block off. If you have the stock clutch perch it will give you a reason to guy buy a nice clean looking ez pull lever. That's what I did Cotton Eyed Joe sells a nice looking block off for a good price
