  1. Sounds like your lean on pilot and mabye the needle. The popping and bogging indicate a lean condition.
  2. That's all I ever used in the sand with my stock top end and fatties. A 15/41 is all I ever ran at the dunes, I also run Sand Skate IIs.
  3. Way too much time on our hands.....
  4. Haha, Tetris and Pacman champion..... Do you ever work yo?
  5. I'm down.
  6. The first number (+2) is width and the second number (+1) is the forward. If there is only one number, it means it's only that width wider and no forward. +2+1 = 2" wider and 1" forward +1 = 1" wider only. I'd get +2+1's. The one inch forward helps the front end stability and helps move weight where it's needed.
  7. that's the question we all want answered.... it's a tradeoff
  8. I believe they changed pattern in 95, so I don't think they're the same bolt pattern. If it was a 95, they'd be the same, but someone can confirm that.
  9. yep
  10. You can handle a 15 front / 41 rear no prob. BenBB's Speed Calculator Click that and you'll get the Excel file where you can play with your gearing and tire sizes. If you go one size bigger on your front, it will be more fun to ride, you'll be faster and you'll be shifting less. For $10 or whatever a front sprocket costs, it's a small charge to try it out. Once I tried it, I never went back.
  11. Naw. Hell, I was born in FL and grew up in CO. Colorado is a lot like MN, wasn't much around during all the North and South bullshit. I've lived in Tx for about 5 years and it's fun to be able to "stir the pot" from the sidelines....
  12. I'll just add this for an example. 14/44 Gearing: 2nd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 29.1 mph 3rd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 35.1 4th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 42.2 5th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 50.5 Stock Gearing (14/41): 2nd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 31.2 mph 3rd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 37.7 4th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 45.3 5th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 54.2 15/41 Gearing: 2nd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 33.5 mph 3rd Gear @ 8,000rpm = 40.4 4th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 48.5 5th Gear @ 8,000rpm = 58 While, the differences aren't huge, he's got you on mph right from the start, and there's no way you can stay there, mathematically impossible. Your shifting a little sooner than him, but you'd have to be doing some fast ass shifting to make it work. By switching the gearing around, your turning the tables. The secret to speed is finding the highest gearing your machine can pull without sucking the motor down (gearing it higher than the motor can handle). Try a 15/41 and get back. [Damn i must be bored.....]
  13. Yep. But if you are bonestock it might be a tad harder on the machine to run a 15 up front, but I'd sure as hell try. If you can pull it, you'll kill a stock geared machine similarly setup (like stock vs. stock). Most people don't even take into consideration gearing when they're thinking about racing and "I'm faster than you" stuff. When I was stock with pipes, and geared 15/41, I'd waste highly modified mx banshees running 13/41, like they weren't moving, but it's not power, it's gearing. Let us know when you beat his ass......
  14. No, my interest was lost on the money. 5 bills is a little steep I think and then I'd have to get em ported, of course. I'd be starting a whole new project and the paint's barely dry on my newly pc'ed frame, so i need to let the dust settle before I dive in to another project. I definitely would like to do it though. Along with a battery kit so I can run a GPS and lights without dimming. One day, just not yet.
  15. We have this discussion once a month.......
  16. I'm taking a wild guess that he doesn't know how to post them. I nominate Led to get them all posted for us! I trust him.
  17. Like I've said before, I haven't ran mine a whole lot yet, and haven't rode it away from the house. I haven't messed with the gearing at all, smaller sprockets just got here (40 was smallest I had), gonna go to a 39 next and see how that works on the back. For power, shee pulls a lot lot harder from low rpms and keeps building smooth into an insane midrange pull. I can easily pull her up in 4th in the pasture on wet grass and could barely do that in 3rd on wet grass before. (Wet is all we have here in TX at the moment.) I'm not getting near as good of traction as before, due to the extra power, so gearing and the new tires I ordered should help that. I haven't raced any 450s, but I know where there are 3 just waiting, and that'll be happening soon enough. I was spankin stock 450s and staying with good modified ones and got beat by one decently modified one with my stock and tired top end, I'll be eating their lunch for sure now, especially after I gear up. At this time, I have zero complaints about the portwork. It runs hard and seems pretty easy to get dialed in. I have the same port job as Mr. Clark above, but different pipes.
  18. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?cs=235&pc=44527&rd=15&ar=75 Anyone ever had these b4? 287412[/snapback] No, but Yokohamas are supposed to be really good tires. I wouldn't hesitate to try em, other than they're a little to "sissy" for me.... j/k led. Price is right yo!
  19. What if my balls started inflating and didn't stop? Just kept getting bigger and bigger???
  20. damn, that's a little too far away for me. Ben, you gonna hop up there and show those PA boys how to party?
  21. 46..... Holy shiznit! Your almost 20 years older than me.... Have a good one man!
