Yeah, I was wondering what pipes are better, toomeys or gnarlies. What size jets should I use. I don't know what year my banshee is and I'm not sure, it may be big bored. Can anyone help me? .
-
I was embarassed just trying to find one, hoping no one would walk in on me. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
-
Easy. Plain and simple. Suspension. You can go faster with a stock quad with trick suspension, than a tricked quad with stock suspension. You got some good mx pipes to move a little. Now get some shocks and a-arms and a wider, stronger rear axle to glide you around the curves. Your stock axle can only handle so much mx, or you'll be buying a new one anyway, after you've spent your dough. Then, look into porting, and carbs and stroker kits and on and on.

I've never actually used the stuff. Is there much benefit if you don't have the necessary compression. I think I'm at 150, give or take. I'm going to check tonight, because I just realized I forgot. My problem is, with work, I never know if I'll have time to ride, and sometimes it may sit for a week or two. I'd hate to buy a jug of gas and it just sit, and if I buy a small amount, and I run out, that really sucks.

Let's hope so. But even if he does, no one will be able to understand it anyway. Hell yeah, he'll be the first one to say, "What a dumb furk I am."
-
Have to say, those are pretty trick looking, and functional, what a great package. What is a pair of those going for, if I may ask?
-
Don't even want to begin to read that shit. My head hurts just looking at it. You guys furk around with your numbers and percent signs, I'm going to go lube my chain or something.

Did they mention the HUGE increase in atv sales it was like way over 100%, can't remember, but way more than that. And it made the increase in accidents actually go down per riders if you looked at the whole picture. I'm sure ABC and whoever else will do their best to put their ignorant ass out on a limb and be a dumb-furking know-it-all and tell us how dangerous everything is, and how irresponsible it is to let young kids on to these deathtraps. What a freaking crock of shiznit. What time is that dreaded show on tonight?

if you clutch it, does it go like you want, or just rev up with no more power. If your chain is that bad, quit riding, or it may pop and crack a case. Don't want that to happen, now do we?
-
Thats where I get a lot of my stuff like that. I'll have to try that stuff. Sounds good.

DirtGrrl, this is just for you. I had a "sexier" one, although, not revealing, was maybe too much for the board.
-
Didn't you guys ever see the "Osbournes" episode where the son and a friend went back to the England farm and they were riding the banshee all over the farm? It was bone stock by the way. This episode was quite a while ago.

you will have to take a run with me through the mojave, then when were done youll be begging to go back for more. just bring alot of duct tape to keep your balls attached Oh man. Desert racing has got to be some of the most fun shit I've ever taken part of. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like flying on the desert roads or across untouched desert landscapes at 100 mph. If I could do only one thing in this whole world, it would be to complete the Baja course. Oh, how great that would be.

Alright. I think I'm going to have to see some IDs, because there's a lot of 12 year old bickering going on in here.

First off, wider than stock??? Do you want the chain to be sliding around on the sprockets, then pop off and crack a case or something?? Stepping up to a 530 setup, maybe. Chain: there are people who run orings, xrings, and non orings. It has a lot to do with personal choice. I wouldn't touch a chain with anything less than 7,000 lbs of tensile strength. The DID Dextreme is referring to is 8,100 lbs. A non oring has less drag than an oring, and an oring has less drag than an xring. A non oring should wear faster than a oring, and an oring should wear faster than an xring. Get the picture? The drag is unnoticeable, well, to me anyway. I have more fear of cracking a case than I do, noticing a little drag. I run a Renthal R3 oring chain. There are some nicer chains out there, like the DID Xring, but it works for me. I'd recommend an oring or xring, other than that, its a lot of brand favortism. You can't go wrong with DID and Sidewinders. Sprockets: I'd stay away from Aluminum, unless you like them to wear. Stainless is the shiz, but also costly. For the sand, you want a non-sticky lube. Maxima Chain Wax, is the ultimate shiz when it comes to chain lube/seal. It isn't sticky and is perfect for sandy conditions. If you have a sticky lube, it will almost help wear in sand, cause it sticks to the chain. I always buy the cheapest steel sprockets I can find, JT comes to mind. If you like bling, then stainless is sweet, and Sidewinder can hook you up there to, I believe. For tightening, you want your full weight on the back and about an inch or so of play. Some go inch and one half of play, with your weight on the bike. I'm definitely no expert, but thats my opinion. I did a search and found a few topics for you to read. Try searching and you'll find all kinds of shiz. New Chain Time., which chain to pick? Chain Question Which is the bet chain for my application? actually, I think mine are cr lows also. I think got them because of the swept back also.

I think this topic needs to be stickied for all the newbies to see when they're unsure how to go about posting.

that will be a quick way to rule out the cdi. I'm just worried about your compression, don't know why, but I would just try to get that checked before you go too deep. You say your "getting fuel". Are you sure it's getting into the motor? Are your reeds in good shape? Did you check your carbs? Pull off the air filter and look in from there to see how the slides are.
-
Yeah, I trimmed mine, just enough to get the Hellas on. Probably can't tell though.
-
My CR hi's feel totally different than stock, and in a much better way.
-
oh you know he will start missin the banshee. there's no doubt. However, I've had the wants for a yfz here lately also. Never ridden one, if I did, I'd probably have one. I wouldn't do any trading, my banshee has it's own stable with a sign above saying so, and it will stay that way.

who needs showers and bathrooms. Didn't need that picture.
-
ssshhhhh!! don't use my name here, I go by codename in here, can't have anyone figure out who I am.

try them and see how you like them, then you tell us how they compare.

Only way to accurately tell how the main is jetted is by running wide open throttle to at least a long 5th gear, then pull clutch and kill motor. Check then. That is the only accurate way to check your main jetting. Once your main jetting is good, then adjust the pilot and such to perform good. You'll be set. What happens, is your riding hard, busting ass, and say, your main's lean. Your done riding, and putt putt back to camp for a quarter mile or so, and your pilot may be a little rich, or just right. When you get to camp, and check the plug, it's nice and dark. Thats because right before you shut it off, it was running good off the pilot jet. or needle. The main jet pushes most of the fuel through at hard riding, 1/2 to full throttle, so the only way to get a true reading on the main, is to pull the main as hard as you can, like wot. The higher gear will work the carb the hardest, if your ganna be lean, you will be in 5th or 6th gear at wot. If 3rd is all you can hit, then that will have to work, just make sure you pull totally wide open and kill it quick. You have to check the plug at the ceramic base, not the top. The top will generally be darker because it's farther in the chamber. Check down kind of inside the threads, where on a new plug would be white, underneath the electrode. The base can and a lot of times will be different than the "top". If it's running lean, it will be running pretty smooth. A lot of people make the inaccurate assumption that it's running good, so it must be alright, it will run really smooth when its lean. For instance, I haven't checked my plugs in a while, but I thought it was running really good, but the exhaust started having a little bit different smell (anyone know what I'm talking about), so I did a plug chop. I went from 185 to 190 on the mains, and 52 to 55 on the pilot, haven't checked yet, but it was much leaner than I liked before I changed, and it wasn't like that three months ago, so go figure. Hope this helps. When in doubt, go a tad richer than you think, rich won't hurt, but lean will kill your machine. Scott
