  2. John On my 4 mill with those carbs.I run 162 mains,48 pilots,CEL needles on the middle clip,1+1/4 turns out with the air screws.
  3. No,The blue part is painted. The grill+bezels were originally stamped+anodized by Chevy at the factory+installed that way before they left the plant. The rest of the trim that wasn't stainless on my 66 was also anodized.Believe me those parts looked nothing like that when i started.
  4. These are the parts i was refering too.I have no doubt the were anodized.
  5. This is a quote from a guy who recently restored some old parts for me. (stripping anodizing) These are the products i use paint remover and high text lye.First i remove any excess paint from part. After the part is cleaned i place it in my tank.Use 1oz of lye to gal of hot water. After a couple of minutes the lye will begin to activate and smoke will rise from the water. After a few minutes your part should turn a bronze type of color. Next remove your part and scrub off with a steel wool pad and rinse off.Your fully de-anodized.Happy de-anodizing!
  6. I have a complete, stock, never been apart 03 motor. It ran good when removed, but the top end needs to be freshened up(100psi)comp.This was from my brothers banshee, not some mystery motor.1000.00+the ride.

  15. I made some good progress on the old Chevy recently.It's a 04 vette LS1 with a 4L60E 4sp automatic.Headers+fuel system will be the next challenge.IMG]http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/jkjk012/100_2190.jpg[/img]
  16. They are a excellent trail pipe set up.They have a very smooth linear pull with good low end, great midrange,+a respectable top end.Compared to t5's they sign off sooner but are more usable in the tight stuff.
  17. Brian If your not comfortable doing it yourself,I'd help you pull it apart, douche it+put it back together.Take out the motor+bring it over some weekend. John
  18. It has 25 pilots+270 mains in it now,you should be real close with the cover on.At see level with the cover off it was spot on with 280's.After you do a plug chop, give me a call+send me those pics.
  19. Someone should scoop this up.Thats a great price, the machine work alone would cost that much to do correctly.I also run this set up with rz forks+yawkey drum.
  20. Stuff a rag in the hole to catch any debris. Then use a slide hammer with some sort of a J hook to catch the bottom side of the bearing+pound it out.Or you can carefully use a dremill tool to cut threw the bearing+race, collapse it on itself+pull it out with some needle nose pliers. Good luck those can be a real bitch.
  21. I believe it is possible to get the best of both worlds with a properly set up+tuned combination of porting+parts.Anyone who has ridden my ride will tell you that. It has insane low end grunt with rite now power everywhere and a respectable top end pull too.
  22. Dajogejr is spot on with that statement.Last Feb in Glamis i sucked the right bowl dry+popped my motor. :: I was following Banchetta along the canal. We were hammer down for 11 1/2 :woot: miles at an average speed of 67mph with a max speed of 73 as per my gps.My bro who was behind me on his 421 cub recorded a max speed of 82mph.I run a 15/40 set up with 22in sand stars, the cub is 15/41 with 10 pdl 20in.
  23. Pete I have a set of 52's,I live in Yarmouth on the cape if you want to come get them they're yours.
  24. Congrats Denny!!! I'd expect nothing less than a podium finish from you guys.
  25. I have their arms+set them up to those specs at first.I found it was too twitchy+wanted to tank slap if i let go of the bars. For a good handling neutral ride for trails+dunes i ended up with.At ride height 6+pos caster,+1or-2 neg camber,1/4 to in.Use tie towns to strap down the susp when checking specs.
