  1. i'm not sure about a 2-4 but in a 1-5 there is a spring that is installed to keep it from jumping into gear.if theres a spring in a 2-4 like yours then i'd say the spring is'nt strong enough.also use care revving it with the clutch pulled unless you have a pancake bearing kit installed in the clutch setup. revving it with the clutch pulled can cause the clutch adjuster, ball and pushrod to weld itself together.
  2. Jim is a straight up guy who takes alot of pride in his work. He has also went out of his way many times to make a customer as happy and satisfied as he could.
  3. maybe just maybe if you watch real close next year you might catch a glimps of one ,lol.or at the very least a glimps of the back end of one, lol.
  4. jim is a super knowledgable builder and a wonderful guy to talk to. his 12 port stroker motors run extremely well and are very reliable.
  5. oh theres alot of them that are very serious about it. its all bracket racing and many of them are very hard to beat, lol. you should try it sometime, lol. its one thing to get beat by a faster, more powerful machine than you got but getting beat by a 16 yr old girl on a blaster really sucks, lol. bansh have a nice nite
  6. just wanted to add that i've lined up against a few guys on asphalt and at the track allows atv's to run any tire they want and there 's alot of them that go with 22 inch DIRT tires so when they leave the track they change a sprocket or two and run the trails, lol.
  7. lol,i'd say you are just goin to debate what ever i say so you go ahead and get him fixed up.
  8. what i was actually getting at is the fact that if he goes with 14-41 which is 2.92 ratio and he has 22 inch tires on the rear because it was ran on asphalt that 2.92 will actually be more close to 2.71 ratio. just saying consider tire size being ran when determining gearing.
  9. 16-44 is'nt to far off from 14-41 in gearing. 16-44 is a 2.75 ratio and 14-41 is a 2.92 ratio. 16-44 is'nt high enough gearing for asphalt in my oppinion. either way consider in tire size also. does it have 20 inch or 22 inch tires on the rear?
  10. could be because being rich can cause a build up in the pipe and as it builds up it holds more heat and may even actually burn slightly in side the pipe.i had trail bike pipes blue and i always ran them on the rich side.
  11. thats the wiseco part number for a banshee piston with a 66.50 mm bore.
  12. i don't wanna say whether i think its lean or rich but burning to rich can also in some cases cause blueing of the pipes.
  13. thought so, i've wondered how sled carbs would . guess now i know, lol.
  14. if your running 1/8 mile and have 20 inch tires you would probally be good with a 16 on front and 38 on rear to start with. it depends alot on the traction you grab and how much your motor can pull.if your running a full 1/4 then you'll probally want a 17 on front and go from there.if your running the stock sprocket hub and its a 6 bolt then you can only go down to a 38 tooth sprocket on rear.if you run the older 4 bolt hub you can go down to a 37 on rear.also make sure you have the same air pressure in each rear tire as unequal pressure can cause you to be thrown sideways on the launch.if you do decide to buy some tires for asphault get american racers or hoosiers either one is a great tire.i run the hoosiers and they are my preference.for the front i run 10x4 rims with scooter tires.
  15. dave at east coast knows his shit and builds some fast motors and bikes.believe me if dave builds it then it deffinately aint horseshit, lol.
  16. i've seen them pc'ed at lowered temps for a longer time and they held up just fine. i'd say its a chance you take when goin for good looks.
  17. yes they could be glazed.also the type of oil you use in the tranny can help create this problem.another thing to check is how badly the pressure plate and clutch hub is worn.when you installed the clutches did you install new springs ? did you install the steel plates the proper way?
  18. you will probally wanna try the needles that came in the 35's which should be dek's in the middle clip,160 mains and 55 pilots and turn the airscrews out 1 and 1/2 turns. this should make it a bit on the rich side but be close at your elevation and you can go from there. we are at 3000 ft and have jetted and ran a few of jims motors including 12 ports. the fuel your running and compression will affect jetting a bit.
  19. when the clutch ,springs and everything is stock and adjusted just right having that happen is fairly rare.however once you replace the springs and such it becomes more common and a real pain in the a--.before putting it back together and taking the chance of it happening again get a pancake bearing kit and install it. you won't regret spending the money for it. it virtually eliminates the welding problem. passion racing, dave moore ,rdz and a whole lot of others sell them.
  20. depends on gearing and mods and such but i'd give a rough guess and say high 7's to low 8's according to mods in your sig.
  21. :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: i may just have to give mine a little juice.
  22. lol, bring the cat along.mines not street bike powered but it is'nt cat food either. they do need to improve the track before quadfest . soon as i get a chance i want to go and check it out to see if they are improving it.i only live a couple minutes from the quadfest site.
  23. :yelrotflmao: joe thats why i did'nt run in the drags last year.hopefully it won't be that way this year.
  24. i think that little zuki of joes poses more of a threat than the 4 pokes do. :yelrotflmao: we're gonna have to keep an eye on that thing.
