  1. what exactly is the squish band that i've been hearing about? there's no hole burned in anywhere that i noticed hulio, i'm set on the noss head, 20cc domes. thanks for the option though. here's another question though. i was going to get'r bored 20 over till i did some more searching on here about boring cylinders. i was under the impression that boring over would give you more hp, through more displacement etc. now i've read some posts about being better off not boring if it's not needed cuz the smaller cylinder area creates more compression, hence the purpose of domes. my cylinder is just barely marred, visible but can't even feel or catch it with anything, so honing might do the trick. so am i actually better off to have it honed, keeping stock bore, pushing the smaller/lighter piston, and sticking with the 20cc domes. it does make sense when you look at it that way, right?? by the way, i dunno what i'd do without all you guys info and support. thanks to everyone.
  2. i generally get fox gloves, use them for about 1 summer, then hand them down to my nephew if he wants them. i pretty much go with what looks cool, and feels comfortable. so far that's been fox for me.
  3. i don't really think shee's been running hot, but i'll double check the impeller and so on. i put a pro design impeller and new bearing/seal in last spring, so i hope all is well with it. plug chops looked great last time i checked so i think the jetting should be cool. i was just thinking that the ring snapped and got tangled up in there and caused all the other damage since it's broken out right where the missing piece of ring is. how can you tell if it's detonation, or a leaky gasket? i'm not really sure what to look for to identify that being the cause. yeah, i'd love to make it to bbdr some this year. i can hear them running later at night from my house. i'll see what the schedule is for test and tune, i think my wife already made plans for me for that day. lol. i'm thinking of going with .020 or .030 bore, wiseco pro lites, and a noss head. gotta hook up with dlnoss i guess and make sure i get the right domes. i'm thinking 21 or 20's to stay under the race fuel level. what about porting? on the average woods port how much $$ would i be lookin at? if ported do you have to advance the timing to compensate? i'm sure that will play into dome choice also. thanks for the help guys.
  4. that top one would go good with those skin graphics - the ones where the chic is on the tank and into the seat cover lickin your nuts.
  5. sometimes that's because once you spend so much money to get them, some of us are broke and can't afford to do much else with it. so you take care of them with the best means possible withing your budget. i had no idea it would be an issue before it happened either. mine cleaned up just fine with mother's and a little elbow grease. it's not a show bike by any means, the mud pretty much covers up the discoloration anyway. i don't mean to be an ass, but your comin' across like a fellow who doesn't believe in elbow grease, or coming in contact with any other grease for that matter.
  6. sounds like you know from experience was that a mistake or an experiment?
  7. don't know what the actual compression was, everything in the top end is stock though. i usually run 92-93 octane depending on where i get it from. mixing 2r 32:1
  8. shee's been running a bit rough here and there, but not constant. i thought maybe i had dirty carbs or a bad reed or something, so i tore into it to check. no big deal. thru the intake ports i could see a crack and some damage to the rt piston skirt so i pulled the head to look a little deeper. here's what i found - check out these pics - there was about 2" of the ring missing near the gouge in the piston, not sure if it's gonna show up in the pic the left side piston seemed fine, no damage anywhere that i could see. i'm just glad i found this before it let loose and locked her up with more damage. not sure what all i'm gonna do now since it needs rebuilt. maybe .020 over, noss or pd cool head i don't want to get into major $$, probably around $500 max if possible. unless i add v3's while i'm messin. gotta do some research before i start throwing cash around. shee ought to be a new beast when i'm done though.
  9. yep, my pc's turned shortly after putting them on also. i was told it was too lean and jetted up. plug chops looked much better, and the pipes haven't gotten any worse since. mothers took some of the discoloration out of it, they are mostly a golden color now. it actually looks kind of cool.
  10. yeah, what he said
  11. yep, suckered me in too. i was thinking... i know there are stupid people out there, but c'mon., reverse on a shee??
  12. i almost fell for the premixed deal once, till i saw the price. yeah, it's convenient but i could buy a gallon of regular anti-freeze and a gallon of distilled water and mix 50/50 and make 2 gallons of coolant for the same price as 1 gallon of premix.
  13. those train horns are wicked. a guy pulled into our shipping area at work and i was bs'ing with him while he was being loaded and he was showing off his truck. he had a huge air line and a line valve to crack on that thing. i was about 20 ft from the truck when he opened her up and i could feel the vibrations in my feet thru the blacktop, not to mention my ears ringing for the rest of the day. he said he's made people almost wreck from scaring the shit out of them if they get in his way. i don't think they are legal though, you might have to check into that one for your area.
  14. this guy should sue himself... thru his messages to loco, he's brought defamation upon himself -- harmed reputation, decreased respect/regard/confidence, and has induced disparable, hostile, and disagreeable opinions or feelings against himself. what a jack-ass.
  15. it seems like 'minorities' have been given special treatment for so long and so often that the average white dude is now the minority who has to fight to be treated the same.
  16. yeah, ain't that some shit thanks guys.
  17. if you're having that much trouble getting it apart, wait till you try to get it back together. those little x or o rings can be a pain to get compressed to get the plate and clip back on. tusk's little chain press works great, otherwise i used a mini c-clamp to compress it. but after having the chain press, it's definitely the way to go.
  18. i used a little 4" grinder and carefully took them down as close to the gear as possible without hitting it. then, a hammer and a punch and tapped them out.
  19. that sucks. i'm sure it was rough enough doing this stuff once, now to wait it out and go through it all again maybe it's a blessing in disguise. keep your head up bud.
  20. the one in the lead must have more stickers on it
