  1. Well I was having some electral problems last week, it would lose spark randomly and break up alittle up top when it ran, and finally after i thought i had it fixed it died on me. I suspected the stator so i took the cover off and a small dismembered screw fell out. Hmm thats probably related to my problem. Then i noticed the nubs on the flywheel were F'd up. Then i saw the magnetic pickup thing held on one screw and all cockeyed (hehe funny word) I took the pickup off and it was trashed. lots of the plastic was gone as was the magnet, it must of gotten punted at over 10k rpm, cuz i was hauling. No wonder it was breaking up at top, i was probably getting timing curves a dyna fs could only dream of! So, I need a new pickup. I also am wondering if the flywheel is junk now that the nubs have been damaged. Ill get a pic up soon so the damage can be assesed. If any one has a pickup let me know. The stator and a bunch of wires are all connected so i fear yamaha selld them as a unit for extreem cost

  5. my favorite was when the cannondale lost to the z4oo in the "high performance" shootout because the Z400 was plusher at low speed and was easier to ride engine. It seems dirtwheels makes the assumtion that every quad owner wants a quad they can put-putter around trails on, I wonder if some of the test riders can even ride well. The articles are so boring too, the fist 2 pages are just them going over the quads specs. hello! we can read the F-ing spec sheet and get those!!!! we dont need.."first off we would like to tell what powers this quad. it has a gas engine, with with a 67mm bore and 45mm stroke, it has DOHC which means it has good power, we dont know why because we are numb nuts but thats what we've heard ...." Strangly the letters section is all 15 years who drive 400exs....Needless to say Im not renewing my subscription..I have had it with dirtwheels. I wish they was a good quad mag like MX action or Car and Driver are....ok done ranting

  8. sheesh my stroker setup was less than that Those sway arms dont look very wide either, but maybe its just me. And does the the linkage where it connects tot he swinger look alittle odd too?
  9. that was sweet. Gust is darn impressive this year! On a side not I wonder whu some of the pros are running front fenders now that they are on production quads?

  13. two things are neccesary to make a good engine fast. one is good jetting and the other is a rider that knows now to use the power. you cant just get a engine and expect to be the baddest guy on a quad ever. I got mine done the same time got1 got his done. Im drasically under flowed with stock intakes and 28mm carbs and mine is a beast compared to my ported 350. But it did take allittle tuning to get it going. I was way rich on the pilots and it was real boggy unless i had it pinned. I went down a few sizes on the pilots and i could not believe the low end power i had.
  14. i am uploading from a sony handycam. I have installed all the software that came with the camera, but only video no sound. The instruction book doesnt say anything about this
  15. I wait until my head is quite hot to the touch, kinda when it is uncomfortable to leave you hand on it for more than a second

  18. I always thought those "stuntahs" that ride without gear are the biggst idiots. What are they proving by doing crazy stuff without protective gear, besides that they have a room temperature IQ

  21. I am running Mikuni 28mm flat slides right now with 380 mains and 30 on the pilots with the needle in the middle. And it really runs strong deffinately pulls stronger than my ported stock stroke. However it did run absolutely terrible untill i got my jetting on, jetting is huge on a 2 stroke. So i think you should be able to get it to run properly with the stock carbs, just not to potential. However, as soon as i can afford a set of 34s those 28s are gone! I cant stand having engine not to potential!

  23. you will not have a problem at 50:1 trust us. I have 4mm stroker running race gas that i absolutly hammer on, no problems. the oil is made to be run at 50:1 dont worry about it.
  24. Jim at passion convinced me that AV gas was a good fuel, there is a post somewhere about it. He said its good for engines that are right between running pump gas and race gas, like running 20cc domes. Ive been running it in my +4 for a while now and it doesnt run any hotter than my 350 on pump, sometimes i even think it runs cooler. I can get it for $2.80/gallon so its wallet friendly. Smells good when it burns too
