My 2017 setup.

Recommended Posts

I know your still tuning it in, I am real curious to hear how much of a difference the porting has made.

The engine already had some work on it, but the timing was untouched.

I can already feel the difference. Less bottom, more top, as expected.

I'm still playing with gearing for the way i ride.

claude your exhaust  went from a 189 to 195 .... Typically means  your not going to be cranking as much psi .... got to be carefull at this point though... it will mainly fall on dome design for needing race fuel or not....

I know. For the dl engine iirc, the hp and lp diff in psi is less than 10 psi.

Will check with another gauge anyway, i got 150psi.

Here is my little problem. Under load, in 4-5-6, the jetting seems ok, engine sounds good.

But when it's spinning, the engine act like there is a cutoff. So i taught that maybe i actually hit the rev limiter, but when i check i the recorded rpm, the engine never goes above 9000rpm.

Still too rich? or Electrical fuck?

This is when it souds good, underload:

This is when it bog:

What do you guys think?

Hey claude,

don't know if it will be the same as what i had but try upping your main jet..

mine sounded like that, upped the main jet 1 or 2 sizes and it cleared up.

Did you give it more fuel then what you had before porting?

Last year i was at 170 mains, but i was fighting a +9 advance...

170 was way too rich with this setup ( +4 timing).

Will re try a 165 mains and 155 mains, maybe i miss something.

Wouldnt a plug chop help you decide if it's too rich assuming it's on gas? I went a few sizes too big on the main jet than perfect on my old 4mil and it never acted like that.

I've had it break up on top end but it was due to the pickup's gap near the flywheel was too big.

I tried 145 mains minutes ago and it still cant go beyond 8000rpm without cutting.

Everything is good t'ill i hit about 8000 rpm

It's not jetting.

Next step is start to check the electrical system.
