    bent frame?

So i picked up an 05 with title, ive been out of the game for years. this winter im tearing it down to pc the frame due to rust forming from it sitting out side. the right lower control arm has a good 1in long dent right smack dab in the middle of it on the back side like it rolled backwards into some thing. since im not an expert on these any more and the frame in these having multiple bends from the factory i felt like i should ask you guys. let me know Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    bent frame?

through some facebook creeping i was able to locate original owner, my wife said it was creepy i said you dont understand. i can tell it has done a fair amount of sitting so i figured he would be my best bet. any who he bought it new, didnt ride it much but when he did it was at glamis. he floped it and bent oem handle bars other than that he didnt recall any thing bad. so today i took front plastics off, no missing paint or creeses on the steering hoop. measured best i could and if anything its 1/8 difference. tank lines up good good 2in gap between tank n hoop. figure if the hoop isnt bent then i got nothing to worry about. ohh that tire on the right is a little off from a bad tie rod Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  4. replacing the crank this winter, 4mill short rod or long rod? not alot of pjston choices for the long rod motors. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

  6. so i just picked up my first banshee since 07, been looking for months. found a 2005 with title bone stock other than ugly old painted toomey pipes and stingers. went looked at it, clean strait and fired up first kick on a cold motor. dude seemed strait didnt ride it paid 3700 and loaded it. got it home went to rip it and yep its a turd. loads up wont open up ect. stick it in garage, unplugged all tors crap dumped gas put fresh in. went to rip it same thing except for if i got it going down hill i could get it to clear up and rip. as soon as i let off it would load up and start missing random on cylinders. pulled carbs today and the intake was full of dirt and sand great, did a compression check on a warm motor and got 87psi and 86psi. wanted some thing i could ride and mess with on my own time, not some thing i needed to go balls deep on the get go.. debaiting on rebuilding or. dumping as is and getting money back.. im sure the crank bearings are wooped aswell..

    niche jugs

so i wound up with a wiseco 65mm rebuild kit and a set of niche jugs and a yamaha head, in a trade for the oem carbs i had gotten. pulled my jugs off and hardly a scratch, pretty sure its the stock bore i still need to measure. not wanting to punch my cylinders out .40 if not needed. i thought i will just get the niche cylinders punched out. good god there terrible looking, rough casting in every port none of the ports are chamfered. before i even attempt to take them to the shop to get bored im going to have to dremel every thing down.. hoping i can get by with my stock bore with a fresh hone and rings Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    rebuild or dump the machine

alright so i tore her down today to give it a good douching. platics, exhaust , tank every thing but wheels. looks like she has seen some storage out side. has typical yammy rust comming through on weld joints. nothing serious, but enough to piss me off and know it needs a powder coat. frame is strait n cleaned up good. still debaiting on what to do, for some reason i had in my mind that a 3700 dollar banshee wasnt going to need tinkering, i guess the old days are behind me and need to get with the picture. i could dump it and buy one that runs decent for 4500-5000 but still has shitty paint and rust on frame. or i could just rebuild this for the summer tear down over winter get powder coated n know what i got.. 2005 with cali title 3rd owner .... n why the hell cant i post pics?

    rebuild or dump the machine

i am more into utilities any more, ride my brute force daily. i thought it would be a good idea to pick up a shee as a time piece, keep in garage and rip it from time to time to get the shakes then park it. some thing to build slowly, not to go balls deep on the get go. thats where im back peddeling on it. trying to decide if it worth the time n money at this point.

    rebuild or dump the machine

it is totally my fault. fired first kick nothing bent or missing got excited and paid.. now im paying for it. i knew it was going to need some tinkering, as it looked like its been sitting a while. idk 3700 bucks is kinda hard to beat
  21. Hey all, been over ten years since ive signed on here. back when i was young (16) i picked up a 2000 banshee, had it for a bit but do to lack of money and tinkering skills i had to give it up. have always wanted another one, now i finally to a point in my life to where ive decided its time. started looking for some machines and wholy hell, are these prices the new norm? i paid 1800 for mine in 2006 and was far from being cherry, machines that are in similer condition to what my old one was have 3000+ asking prices. figured i sign on again and get some opinions because ive been out of the game so long. thank you all
  22. Hello all new to the forum, this isnt your normal vs thread. I just sold my 08 kfx 450r, had it for 3years and put maybe 5tanks of gas through it, was my garage queen. Mostly ride my utilitys, but need a sport quad to take out every now and again to get my jolly's then put it up. Thats why i sold the kfx, the new thumpers just dont hold there value. Any ways its been years since ive owned a banshee or 250r and im out of the loop so to speak. I dont care whats faster, i dont care what handles better. What i care about is parts to keep them running. They both have alot of parts out there, i realize that but which is the most easily avable? Do they still make tranny parts or cases for the 250r? I know the frames are prone to cracking welds on them aswell. Same goes for the banshee, again i dont want a war. Just a simple question for my decision on an ole two stroke to turn into a blood pumping trail machine
  23. See, posted this on a banshee forum. Low and behold , there are guys here that have run both.
  24. Upstate ny. Found a couple clean banshee's and one 250r.
  25. Around here a clean banshee can be hard to find, a clean 250r is near impossible. I just want some thing that i can keep for years, and have the parts to keep it going.
