I come across a 98 blaster, new itp holeshot tires and rims, fmf fatties, top & bottom end was rebuilt, hot rod crank. The guy selling it said he was riding it and it died and he hasnt fooled with it since. He is asking 500 bucks for it. The bike looks nice from the pictures and i'd like to have it for another bike, parts for a blaster seem pretty cheap.

I figure its either the top end or something electrical. He said the motor was not seized. What do you guys think?

I'd like to buy it mainly for me as a second bike but also for my nephew as thats about the right size for him, my shee is curently tore down and going through a rebuild from frame up, I brought him down on the price of what he was originally asking quite a bit, friends were telling me to take him down lower but I thought it was a pretty decent deal also. 500 would be my top dollar offer though, I dont want to offer him any more money than that. He is also willing to throw in another set of front and rear tires, not sure if they're the stockers or what, jet kit and a couple other little goodies. I havent looked over it in person yet, was going to set up to see it later this week.

Would those itp's mount on my shee? Because if they will thats where they're goin

heres a pic of the bike

2nd that.... just use that money for the shee!

Believe me I would rather spend it there instead in a heartbeat because i enjoy the old 87 more  , I would just like to have another bike on hand. I have to go up that way for business anyways so I might just swing by and take a look at it.

@jugriggs how much info do you know about that bike?

New ITP Holeshot tires with ITP aluminum rims. FMF fatty pipe and silencer. New handle bars, bottom end, top end and carb have been profesionally rebuilt recently, has hot rod crank, has +5 timing key in it, have jet kit for the carb, have stock tires and rims included, Has a 400ex rear shock and also have stock shock to go with it. Has new shift forks, new reeds. Also have extra back sprocket comes with it. Also have extra carb with it. Have $2500 invested in the quad. Blaster does need some motor work done, was riding it and it back-fired and died and now won't start. Don't know exactly what is wrong with it. I don't have the time to ride it anymore so I am selling it cheap

I dont know much about the bike but stuff like this is always to good to be true. This guy put $2500.00 into it, it backfires and quits running so all of the sudden without trouble shooting he wants to sell it for 500? He knows good and well whats wrong with it and id say its something major.

Yeah believe me that crossed my mind also why someone after spending that much money would'nt just want to have it looked at before loosing their investment.

I was goin up there anyways and just thought thought I'd check it out.

Thanks guys

That 500 bucks your gonna spend on it is gonna end up being alot more to fix it. I wouldn't buy it but whatever floats your boat. If it was a banshee that was blown up then i would say go for up. I bought a rolling chasis basically everything on it except the motor and parted it out for double what i paid for it. You may do it with the blaster but you would have to know a good blaster forum.

Just an FYI, I have a 94 Blaster that is basically set up the same way. Anyways mine did the same thing, running fine backfired and died. Wouldn't restart but would backfire every couple of kicks. Ended up being a busted corner on 1 reed peddle (sp?). Replaced the reeds and runs like new. Something to think about if you decide to get it.
