Dude, I'm not sure what the other guys on here will say but make sure you take it for a ride before you make any kind of deal. I would start it, take it for a ride for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Once you bring it back leave it running for a while. Check to see if there are any leaks and if there are any cracks in the case, especially around the front sprocket area. Make sure that before you take it for a ride that he has all the fluids FULL, including the gas. It might seem like making sure the gas being full is a little much but trust me it's not. When I brought mine home I didn't check to see how much gas was in it. Everything else was great but when I brought it home and filled it up, gas was leaking everywhere. The guy put in screws under the seat to secure the gas tank cover better and he punctured the gas tank. It didn't take much to fix but it's still something that pissed me off once I got it home.

Also take into consideration the money you are going to have to put into it for the necessary things it needs to run and perform properly. This will give you a little bit of an upper hand when it comes to negotiating a price.

That's crazy pinned247, I woulda been pissed too lol!

Mitch, 2 grand is a little steep for an '87, that's a lotta time & miles unless the previous owner really took good care of it, and even then things just wear out (rubber gets brittle, cracks develop in the frame, bushings wear out, etc.). The two things I would do is ask what bore size it's on (20 over? 40? if it's 80 over you can't bore it again so that means either resleeving and reporting/port matching or starting over with fresh jugs when it comes time for another topend), and understand that '87-'91 Banshees have J-arm front suspension so it's harder to upgrade if you decide to go wider. Other than that just look it over REAL close and try to figure out if it's been rode hard & put up wet or babied for the last, what, 21 years?!

Ok, well I'll start with the engine. Its stock bore, stock crank, and stock cylender. The guy that owns it is a really good engine builder and is real meticulous about his work. His replaced all the bushings, bearings, and seals on the whole bike. The bike has been torn completly down to the frame and rebuilt. Its not some guy thats going to screw us over. We know him and he promised that if anything went wrong we have his number and he'll fix it.

That's cool...hold on STOCK bore? Well if you're ok with j-arms then there's really no other difference in a later model Banshee, I don't think $2k would be too far outta line IF it's on the stock bore size and he's a stand-up guy. Post some pics if the deal goes through...

Stock bore, crank and juggs but has been completely torn down and rebuilt by a good engine builder.

This does not make sense?

Where do you live as location depends on the price!

Thats not a bad price. my ride is a 87. if hes asking 2G, that says if you had $1.700 cash in your hand and say this is all you have i`m sure that shee is yours. thats what i would do.that extra $300 will get you a coolhead w/domes.

Hey BenBB. who told you you cant bore past 80 over? hopefully not your builder.

you can go 90 and 100 over.

But why would you want to...then you run into risking the VERY thin sleeves cracking from the More heat that having basiclly no meat on the cylinder walls will create, but it can be done yes!

Most guys will re sleeve when 80 over is done!

I already tried the 1700 cash idea (you pretty much read my mind). He cant though. His house burnt down 2 years ago and his buddy(my dads good friend) lent him 2 grand. He has yet to pay it back because moneys tight so the guy that lent him the money is holding the banshee. So he needs to sell it to pay him back. Sounds fishy I know but we know both of these guys.
