theshee Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 I have a stupid wierd question... I have my shee all done, bled the rear brake and now it will pump up and wont let go of the caliper.. I mean, after riding a bit and using the rear brake its like the e-brake is on or something but all that shit is gone. If you crack the bleeder valve, then its fine for a while, but will eventually pump back up and hold onto the caliper.. what would cause this? Quote
okbeast Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 hm, make sure the rubber thing inside the reservoir isn't getting sucked down and messing up the vacuum. other than that i always thought the system was pretty bulletproof Quote
theshee Posted June 5, 2008 Author Report Posted June 5, 2008 I checked that... im stumped as hell... Quote
jharader Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Maybe the piston in the master is catching on some debri? id take it apart and clean it, no harm in that. Quote
okbeast Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 new pads? is the rear a free floating system like the fronts. i can't imagine those rods being gummed up causing it to stick like this though. what does it do if you have it off the caliper and pump it up? Quote
theshee Posted June 5, 2008 Author Report Posted June 5, 2008 Doesnt seem like anything is catching, just seems like something is plugged up or something. If you take it off and pump it, it does the same thing but the pads will just stick together. Quote
okbeast Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Well they usually don't come apart very easy as it is, kinda drag on the rotor constantly like all disc brakes do. It's gotta be somethin with the fluid not flowing back into the reservoir or through the master cylinder not letting it retract. at least that's the only thing i can see Quote
Dinner Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Hmm. What are the pins like that the mounted plate rides on like? If those are seized, maybe it is causing them to stick. But then again you said once you crack the line, the piston will retract and act normal for a bit? What does your foot pedal feel like when the brakes are stuck on? Quote
Animalman294 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Sounds like the piston's stickin' inside the caliper.................... Quote
LS1Inferno Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Sounds like the piston's stickin' inside the caliper.................... If he bleads off th epressure and it relaeases its the master cylinder sticking inside. just like the banshees (see my sig) Quote
2001Stroker Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 If you can open the bleeder, and it retracts, I would have to say replace the master cylinder. First eliminate the brake line by trying to bleed off the pressure at the master cylinder. If the piston retracts by doing that, definitely replace the master cylinder. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 just take them off. who needs rear brakes anyway?? Quote
LS1Inferno Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 just take them off. who needs rear brakes anyway?? people with smoothies up front no brakes at all is a VERY bad thing waiting to happen espesically in the dunes where do you ride taht you done need em. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Would the rezzy by the brake pedal cause this or is it for sure the caliper. Just a thought i don't know i'm kinda stumped like you. Quote
