im starting to put my top end back together . but what do i torque the nuts on the head? top and bottom ones.

 

inch pounds or foot pounds?

 

and how much do i toruqe them?

Cylinder head nuts - 28Nm (20 ft.-lb.)

Cylinder base nuts - 28Nm (20 ft.-lb.)

 

Torque them incrementally, 5, 10, 15, 20, operate the engine, then check the torque after the engine has completely cooled down. Check the torque again after the first ride as well, should be good after that with periodic inspection.

 

A manual is great for all the stupid stuff... :whistling:

is it okay to do a start up when its minus 6 here in canada.

just to start up and do a 20 minute heat cycle.?

need info asap.. as im starting to put this thing back together in about an hour..

Put your socket wrench on there and tighten them a little bit all the way around, then a little bit more, then a little bit more, then on the last time when they go "snap" and spin freely you know you went to far. Don't go that far. :biggrin:

I always use the 'foot on the cylinder for more leverage' method myself... :ohmy:

I thought it was tighten till they smoke, then back em off 1/4? :laugh:
