roughneck2000 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 HELP. I just rebuilt my banshee last week. It started up with 2 kicks but noticed left side cyl will was not firing. So i started troubleshooting the easiest first. New plugs that are gapped, switched around plug wires, switched around carbs, and still left wont fire. Took readings with ohmmeter, stator is good, preformed the primary coil test wich also checked out. Next i was told to start it up and put my hand over the left side carb and feel for suction, which there is. So im pretty sure the motor is sealed up tight. When I pull the plugs left is soaking wet and right plug isnt far behind, I havent messed with the jetting since it ran last. My compression is up to 165 psi on both sides. I havent preformed a crankshaft pressure test but if both carbs are sucking air ........ then there should be no leak... right??? Any help will be greatly appericated. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) BROKE REED, Bad seal @ Case & CYL, Rings Broke or on wrong. If you left plug wire will fire the right cyl its not electrical. Edited February 7, 2008 by TexasBansheeMan Quote
RatherBeStrokin Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Damn im having the same problem... same cylinder too. Hope you find the problem and if you do let us kno what you found.. I wont be around to mess with mine till SAT.. This chick told me one time when we were riding only thing you need to fix one is Spark plugs and Zip ties boy was she wrong.. Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Bad spark plug boot, too much gap between the flywheel, and the pickup coil, or simply a bad spark plug. Even if the plugs are brand new, they can still be bad. Quote
civicfrk1 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 What kind of carbs do you have? do you still have TORS on there??? thats what MY problem was lol. Quote
Troubledsol Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I am having the same issues on the same side as well as a buddy of mine A local shop that specializes in shees says we could have twisted cranks Hope you figure it out if we find out the problem on ours I will let you know Quote
Dark Ranger Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I would say that if the left plug is wet and the other appears to be rich then perhaps you need to remove/clean and adjust your carbs. Are you choking it too long? Perhaps your floats are sticking. Quote
shovelhead Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Happened to me too last week. ..a couple of good taps on carb bowl unstuck that float..shee is fine now? Quote
