yes a jetting problem,i'm at my end with this thing,i've looked around i've read other posts, and tried different things, don't want to sound like the new guy with a problem that's been talked about to death.for starters, can anyone tell me what 35mm airstrykers come with factory, jett wise, main size, pilot and also what needle( needle numbers).bought a set from a guy at a race, that was a few month's ago at the pro drags in albany g.a. just got around to putting them on and i'm way rich on bottom, cleans up great and is an animal, but i have the traditional low end bog outta the hole, not super bad,but not as crisp as it should be,we tried going down on the pilot and were at 42's,no deal,we've adjusted the clips on the needles and not yet,i'm thinkin these things have some weird needle in them because i checked the keihin chart and the needles that are in them, aren't even on the chart for the airstrykers,i'm also using uni filters,no bags in a cfm box wich is completely open on the top

the pilots will mostly affect the idle circuit.

42s should be pretty close maybe still a little fat though.

I don't know that there is a "factory jet size" for them. I always

thought that they were for a racing application so the jets would

always depend on the setup. I bought a new set and the company asked

a bunch of questions about my setup and jetted it according to the info i

gave them. they did jet it pretty fat, but it was a starting point.

Sounds like that needle is your problem though.

I'd tell ya what's in mine, but i would have to pull them out.

You can call the compay that sold me my carbs and ask them what needles

they would set the carbs up with for your engine.

PWK Carburetors Standard Jetting

SIZE....................MAIN JET...SLOW JET...JET NEEDLE...THR.VALVE

STANDARD

PWK 28MM 29S.....#135........#38...........46JH.............C.A. 3.5

PWK 33MM S46.....#165........#52...........48CGL..........C.A. 6.0

PWK 35MM 70R.....#160........#68...........48DGK..........C.A. 6.0

PWK 38MM 71R.....#172........#58...........48DEG..........C.A. 6.0

PWK 35MM S65.....#160........#48............48dek..........C.A. 4.5

PWK 36MM S63.....#165........#55............48DGJ..........C.A. 5.0

PWK 38MM S66.....#170........#55............48DDJ..........C.A. 7.0

I run PWK33s and I've gone from the standard #165 down to #150 main and from #52 pilot/slow jet to a #48...and it is still rich. I'm gonna run smaller pilots nest time out. I'm only telling you this as a reference....my jetting is to my motor, not yours. That being said, I've found that factory Keihin jetting is always waaaaayyy rich. I guess they want it to run, but not damage your motor so you can tune it.

Think liability :geek:

So your stock needle should be a 48DEK.

Keihin has a pretty good jetting guide you can use to assist you in jetting when used in conjunction with the "How To" articles at the top of this forum (Thanks SREDISH).

Hope this helps..

the cut aways are different. blah blah.

best of luck.

if you know someone with them you can get close but most run pwk.

Hey Violent,

I'm running Air Strykers on a ported 4mil. with K&N pods and CPI inframes.

i run a 152 main in cooler weather with a 42 pilot (just pulled and checked)

and my needle is in the 2nd clip from the blunt end.

but you are running uni filters in a box w/o lid and i dont know what

pipes you are running and what temperature it is running in.

thats why i never gave you any of my jetting info.

but..... we do have a similar setup and we are using the same carbs.

if your needle is the same as stock, my jetting should get you close cuz

even tho you are a little warmer and at sea level, mine should be able to get

a bit more wind. (i only said close...you do need to do a plug chop)

if those carbs were used, you really don't know what that guy did to them.

you are right to check what needles are in there, it sounds like they are either

different than mine or they are adjusted closer (clip pos) to the pointed end.

check it out and let us know.

hey guy's, ok heres where were at- brian turned me on to 1dir and wow those guy's there are awsome, basically it comes down to buying a master kit and starting there, found out the needles are way off, mains and pilots weren't to terribly bad the , needles were out of god knows what, way off. so i get on the phone with this guy and we go thru my entire motor and he's gonna base the master kit on the info i gave him, for those of you who don't know

uni's, open cfm box

so basically he wanted to know all of that plus compression wich i just did lastnight and i'm at 185 each side and the fact that i live in savannah g.a where the humidty is high most of the time, so right now i'm going to change from 927 to klots full synthetic for starters, then i've alway's run 32:1,well now it's gonna be 40:1,going to back my timing down to around 4 degrees and as far as fuel, i've alway's VP, and i'm going to continue, but i'm gonna go to c-12,so all this and his kit that he's figuring up and we shall see, brian thanx again, this guy's name is will at 1DIR and man does he know his shit, i will be recomending this guy to a bunch of people

they may still set you up a lil rich, but it will be a good start.

i still had to buy a couple of smaller sizes for mine.

yeah brian, the kit he's sendin me will have 4 needles,4 pilots, and i think 8 mains,as a starting point,if we can't figure out the combo from there, then at least i'll know wich way to go with things, see right now all i had was what was in there, and a couple of smaller pilots, couldn't do much tuning, originaly when i got the carbs, they had 140 mains and 55 pilots and i think the needles where EGN,we went to 130 mains and nothing, then we went from 55 pilots to 52,then to45,then to 42 and last 40's, the bike never changed, till the 40's and i mean barely.so were gonna start from scratch and go from there, also are there any hidden things on these carbs that i might have missed that could be clogged,i'm not familiar with these carbs at all. thanx again for all the info and help on this thing

Posted

theres not any hidden things.

those carbs are pretty simple.

just make sure it is really clean.

i like to use carb cleaner to spray through all of the

cross holes to make sure they are clean.

and also make sure you clean the air bypass screw

and seat.
