What do you guys think about somethink like this

and two KN filters? Its an expensive solution, Dunno if it's worth of it

 

I've never heard from anyone who's run the aluminum box with dual k&n's but you'd probably be looking at close to $400 for that setup. I don't know if the power gain of running dual filters inside the box would be worth that price. I'd put that $200 for the aluminum box towards something else and just go with the stock box and a sinlge k&n pro flow kit from Noss and maybe that k&n lid if you want the extra protection.

i use the k&n pods :thumbsup:

best set up out there even if your ridding in the dirt just put prefilters on them :beer:

I agree to an extent...from what i've seen and researched, k&n pods are the best setup for dirt or sand riding. I wouldn't suggest them if you're going to be riding in any type of wet or muddy conditions. The risk/reward just isn't there imo. The minimal gain in power isn't worth the price of a new top end (or worse) when you suck water through the carbs. Just my 0.02.

 

Pepe - When I looked at the aluminum box the first time, I thought it was made to run dual k&n's inside. Now when I look at it, I can see that it's made for the single k&n filter like I was suggesting. I'd still go with the k&n pro flow kit like Noss sells and stick with the stock airbox. You'll still save around $100 and the most you'll gain with the aluminum box is cosmetics.

True but foam filters plug up way too fast in the dunes. They filter too well...

Well its been proven that a quality foam filter will filter particles better than K&N. K&N and other mesh filters do not filter out small particles very well. However Foam is more restrictive and yes it retains too much junk, and plug sup quickly. It would probably be better for your motor to run a foam filter in the dunes, but you might have to clean it after every ride to maintain performance... Despite K&N's not being great filters they work well enough on the banshee when you add outerwears it's not like a car where you have to have the motor last you 100's of 1000's of miles, these motors don't last that long anyways before needing a rebuild and the K&N filters well enough to now blow up your motor so long as you maintainn and replace them every so often. I wonder how well those dry filters like the AEM would work on the banshe?. NAH screw that with all the oil from the carbs backspray and the expense of cleaning them, probably not worth finding out.

I was suggesting that if fastquad rides in mud or water, he should run the k&n proflow over pods. I never suggested that he run a foam filter though I do agree that they do filter particles better than gauze.

That setup is way to much cash. For a drag racer that has to have every little bit of extra power then yeah but thats not a justified purchase for just riding. That K&N Airbox lid is over priced too. I use my stock lid with 12 1" holes cut in and I have 1" mini foam filters put in for a little more airflow. I also run a 2:1 uni foam filter with the plastic cage that seats rite in the airbox for as much filtration as I can get because I run through alot of water/mud puddles. Its imposible to avoide them and while I could squese a few more HP with a K&N setup its not worth the risk to reward ratio. For sand I would use the K&N Pods with outerwares for better airflow.
