  1. It sounds like it's too lean or rich to me. If it doesn't act like its running out of gas when you're wide open in like 3rd or 4th, I'd say that it's too rich. If it runs smooth and just doesn't quite hit the pipe, too rich.
  2. The shock link mounting point may be different on the long one. This is probably what's dropping your quad. You will probably have to get an adjustable one from somewhere. I think lonestar makes one. You might check on here for supporting vendors that have them.
  3. When my bike was stock, it was great on gas. My first trip to the dunes. I rode a lot the first day and it used down to reserve by the end of the day. Now with my my mods, it will use a tank by lunch. It's a lot faster though. You gotta pay to play.
  4. What was compression on the right side. Way more? If so, I would say that you need a top end rebuild.
  5. So is the adjustment screw touching the slide to hold it up or is it down too low and not touching the slide? That would make it do what you are describing.
  6. I think that you will definately like the vf3s. They add some off idle throttle response. You will see once you ride it with them.
  7. Ive been running pods on my quad since i bought it. You can get away with little amounts of water but now creed crossings. As for the noise issue, youre gonna have to get used to it. That's the best way to get the most power out of your machine.
  8. I think you would be in the ballpark with the 20cc domes and plus4 timing. You will have to ride it easy untill you find out for sure but you should be pretty close with that setup. You might get away with 19ccs. Ive heard of guys on here running 19s on 93 octane. You would just have to do an accurate compression test to figure it out.
  9. I think it turned into a pissing match. LOL
  10. I, personally, bought the T5s because I heard that they were better pipes than the T6s. I bought my banshee and within the week, I bought pipes, filters, and reeds. You may think that you want to leave it stock but, I think when you get on the ice and are racing some 450s, you will want it faster. Just my $ .02.
  11. Wow. That's hilarious man. I get frustrated too.
  12. My shee has about 115 on both sides and it runs like a striped @$$ ape. I would suggest checking out the above mentioned things because of the overheating that has occurred.
  13. You might need to adjust your idle air screws. They are on the left side of both carbs and have a flat heat slot in them. Backing them out gives you more air and turning them in gives you less.
  14. Way to go on ditching the 4stroke. I would recommend klotz r50 running at 32 or 40:1. As for tranny lube, you need to run something that is good for wet clutches. ATF works good but, has to be changed often. I'm running 30w oil right now and it seems ok but, i thing something else would be better for your clutch. There is a whole lot of info on here. Do some reading and enjoy your machine. Welcome to the BHQ.
  15. Right after I got my blaster(old quad before the shee), I took it to the car wash. I didn't want any water to get into the carbs. I crammed a rag in the snorkle on my airbox. I pushed the quad onto the trailer when I was finished. I kicked the hell out of that thing the next time I wanted to ride it before I realized the rag was still in there. I'm pretty sure similar results will happen with the plastic wrap and the air filters. LOL
  16. You want some closeure. Go for a drive and kick someone in the nuts. This situation sucks and I definately feel for you on it. I had similar issues on the tranny in my truck.
  17. plus 1 on the ACs. They are really well built and can take a lot of abuse. If they still make them, go for it.
  18. That all green frame looks good. I ought to be a pretty fast quad once it's done. Good luck with finishing. I'm looking forward to seeing some more pics in the future.
  19. Zip tie them. It doesn't put enough stress on them to pop them off. Just make sure that the flanges are dry and don't have grease or anything like that on them. They will stay where you put them.
  20. I'm voting on detonation too. If you are running ported cylinders, it may be a little different port to make a difference. I don't know. I'm just throwing stuff out there.
  21. I'll take two. That's great. This and a boost bottle are on my wish list for sure. I'm sure it kept the mud off. You're missing the duct tape though.
  22. You could adjust your preload some and it will stay up more when you sit on it. Like stated above, your axle will be the same height off the ground no matter how high the back of the quad is.
  23. I agree. $40 a can is on the ridiculous side of things. If you want it to match, that's about your only option. You could go to a paint shop and see if they can match it. Then you'd have to use a gun though.
  24. Sounds like a winner to me. Glad to hear something went right for somebody.
