I am the original owner of this 2006 Yamaha Banshee SE. This is the Special Edition model which is black with a hint of purple flames. The title is clear and should be delivered to me any day now thru the mail. A DMV bill of sale will be provided. Registration is due every 2 years and I just paid it less than 2 months ago. It has only been ridden for 4 weekend trips in Glamis. It

Im just following the owners manual is all. But after searching around on here, I think im going to drop to 32:1 and see what happens. seems like most can agree on this ratio.
-
I am wondering the same thing...My motor is stock with T6 pipes, no air box, Toomey 2:1 intake, and the carb is jetted for this. I simply follow the owners manual and run 24:1 Yamalube....should I be mixing less oil even though Yamaha should know best?

New Toomey TR6 pipe broke at the mounting tab
bonzai272 replied to bonzai272's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Just a little update: I emailed Toomey and the owner himself emailed me back asking me to send it back to him for repair or replacement at no charge to me, no questions asked. I shipped it 2 days ago, they got it yesterday and shipped me out a new one today so that I can have it tomorrow in time for the holiday weekend. My hats off to the owner and Debbie who handled it for me. They responded to emails very well and were awesome to deal with. They said that they have seen this happen with a few T5s but not the T6 yet, of course my pipes are still within warranty period so that may be why they took care of it. Glamis, here I come beyotch! -

Im not too sure about it sucking it out of the reservoir. I assume it did because after a couple weekend ride, it will get low and I will have to add. I dont think its an overflow tank though because it has low and high marks and the manual says to add fluid to keep it between the marks. -

Mine has done this since day one. Im not worried about it. I just add coolant to the reservoir if its low. -
Im putting on my new Tusk bars tonight and was wondering what to do with the keyed ignition...can I install it elsewhere or remove it completely or switch it out a toggle or kill switch and mount it elsewhere....what do u guys do?
-
So I got a lil fast on the donuts last weekend and caught some traction mid spin.....flipped the banshee over lol. Anyway, stock bars got bent to shit. I ended up just ordering some Tusk T-10 bars and Pro Grips to replace it. Scractched up the rear fenders pretty bad too so I ended up just hacking em off. Dont gotta worry bout scratching em now!

hard to start all the sudden...help!
bonzai272 replied to bonzai272's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Never had the carbs off, aside from the dealer installing the jet kit for the TR6 pipes....but its been starting fine until lately. intake boots and air filter are clean and on properly. New plugs didnt make a difference, always has spark and fuel. Ill have to check for that crossover tube...I know which one you are talking about. If that wont work, ill check compression. thanks guys. -
hard to start all the sudden...help!
bonzai272 replied to bonzai272's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I thought a weather change may be a factor but the weather has been pretty consistent since i got it and its only had this issue the past 2 times out. The new a-arms and shocks are the shizzz!! its like 5th-6th gear pinned in glamis over the ruts and its like a caddy compared to stock! -
So ive got a 06 banshee thats only been on about 5 or 6 weekend rides since I got it. Last weekend and now yesterday....when I get to the riding spot and unload it, I go to start it up and it just wont go, no matter what I do, choke on, choke off, half choke, whatever. Temps are usually around 60 or 70 degrees. Ive checked plugs, not fouled and have spark. I have no clue what else it is. Eventually after I literally kick it over like almost 100 times, it will finally start. in the final kicks before it starts, I can finally hear it start to fire up and then just a few more kicks and it does. But once I finally get it going for that initial start....it has no other starting issues for the rest of the trip...fires first kick hot or cold all weekend long. One thing I have noticed last weekend and yesterday is that the gas tank is full...and I mean like almost up to the point of overflowing. Could a gas tank being too full cause something like this for some reason?

Havent met any of you yet either but ill be out there at least saturday and most likely sunday too. 06 special edition (black with purple flames), red anodized nerfs, purple wicked a-arms with elkas. werd.

New Toomey TR6 pipe broke at the mounting tab
bonzai272 replied to bonzai272's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Yeah the stock rubber ones broke on the first ride. I replaced with billet ones already and they were much better looking and easy to install. The tab that actually snapped right in half is the tab welded to the pipe itself....this tab mounts to the hanger. -

I first had the stock rubber hangers on there, they both broke (rubber ripped off)...cheap shit. I upgraded to billet ones. But they mounted effortlessly and seems to have no stress on the pipes at all. I can easily just lift the pipe back up into place where it should be and it sits flush with the broken tab....doesnt take any force at all. -
Hey guys, Have any of you had any issues with the Toomey Racing pipes breaking at the mounting tab? Mine are only a few months old, been on 4 rides, and yesterday while cleaning the quad I noticed that the tab on the top of the right pipe just snapped off. The is the mount under the front fender. It must have happened on last weekends ride. There was no impact to the pipe, no signs of impact to the pipe anywhere, and the pipe seems to be under no stress. I can easily lift the pipe back up into place where it lines up perfectly with the broken tab. Im hoping it can just be welded back together or something. But them being chrome would cause an issue with the appearance, wont it? Ive emailed Toomey to see what they suggest so Ill see what they recommend. I figure odds of them replacing or fixing arent very good but I couldnt find any experiences online about this issue. What you think?

what shocks do you run? Im anxious to get mine out this weekend and try the new wicked arms.

Ive read around on here that g-force is a good brand axle for the money from Rocky Mountain. Im curious to know if its worth the money to get a wider axle now that my front end is wider from the a-arms. I mainly use this for sand dunes. I havent taken it out yet since the a-arms but will do so this weekend and see what it feels like. Anybody have any opinions or experience with wider front end but leaving the rear stock?
-
my first time out riding my brand new banshee was sore as hell on my thumb. I removed TORS and installed an extended billet thumb lever and its much much better.

Am I the only one that noticed the critic himself misspelling the word "sense"? Please see "Skruw is not a word in any sence." Please also note the use of "your" instead of "you're". Also "screw a women" should be "screw a woman". Im just saying if you're going to be a spelling nazi, practice it yourself a little.

I had this happen to mine but with my gloves melting to the pipes when I accidentally bumped them. I used very fine steel wool like 000 steel wool along with some mineral spirits. Turned those new chrome T6s back to new.
