350BANSHEE350 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 i would say wierd but i did have a red speck on my plug before not sure what it was but it wasnt the whole plug Quote
jbooker82 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Do you run a red premix. Any octane boosters, leaded race fuel? Quote
samc Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 sounds like he runs red premix or its like a rich-lean kinda tune like a not fully rich and not perfect, it happened to me with my old goped scooter.. im not quite sure so ill step out of this convo now lol just my 2 cents.. Quote
csrmel Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 hey dave by chance are you running atf in the gear box? is the other plus also red? Quote
375hp banshees Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 red fuel & red oil but, that shouldn't matter, the other plug was dark ( all the sand from being dry out, clogged my filters pretty quick ) but normal color...trans. oil, is eng oil so... any other ideas?? Quote
csrmel Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 which side? right side? might want to look at the crank seal. red oil and red fuel will make plugs red. Quote
375hp banshees Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 it hasn't in the past 2 yrs., until now, & its only on L. side? Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 leaded race gas will make plugs different colors Quote
375hp banshees Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 leaded race gas will make plugs different colors I think it's leaded, but i've been running it for years?...do you know if it's worse when righ or lean ect... trying to find out why only one, & which one is abnormal? Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Never heard of the leaded fuel thing, ive been running leaded for years. But since its on the left i have no idea, thats weird. But ya i could see gear oil doing that if you have an internal leak due to a yamabond breech. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 I used to run turbo blue leaded race gas, it was 110 octane. My plugs used to be yellow after running them for a while Quote
Snopczynski Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 engines running race gas a little rich will have dark plugs. If the left side crank seal is leaking and the motor is running lean on the left cylinder the plug will burn red if using leaded race fuel (additives in the fuel). Quote
