YFZ450 vs YFZ350

What kind of mods does it take to beat a YFZ450 piped with a K&N filter.

I just read so much opinions on how the guys on thumper talk says how the YZFs beat the Banshees, until they are modified.

If your a bigger guy like I am. I did a 4 mill crank and stock ported cylinders just to make sure.

i know a guy that has a shee with a fresh crank and topend, trinity stage 4 pipes, and thats it ( no port work) besides a modded shift star, and he can beat the yfz450's but he is a fairly heavy guy, so i guess traction is not a issue, lol

I have a stock engine banshee with toomey TR6 pipes and 8 paddle haulers and i rip up my buddies yfz450 w/ a pipe and cams, going up olds and the sand drags at glamis.

I've raced a couple of YFZ 450s with my Banshees and lost from a dig on a short run (rider/tires made the race) From a roll I had him by 2-3 bikes in the entire race (1st gear roll on). The YFZ only had a pipe, cam mod, and K&N, my bike had FMF pipes, Noss head 21cc domes, +4 timing, V force reeds, K&N pods, FAST Clutch, etc (every bolt on part) with a bone stock motor (no porting, STD bore pistons, gearing, etc).

 

YFZ's are fast but with a couple of bolt ons it becomes a riders race.

I eat 450's for lunch. This past Sunday I raced one with some 470 or some big bore kitted Curtis Sparks piped yfz. The first race we launched even and I pulled about 3 bikes on him. The other race I was behind by a bike and a half and beat him again by a bike. I weigh about 190 lbs. and the other kid was smaller than me. I launch the hell out of second gear and flat shift her with the throttle pegged. Run that bike like your life's at stake. Shee can take it. Good luck.

well last weekend was only my 2nd trip out with the fresh build, ran into some kid on a 450r with hrc kit, pipe, head work and some other shit..

He was a nice kid should us acouple of nice place to ride where we where at... anyways we where all talkin and the e says let line em up..

OKAY, lined em up from the start we where neck to neck and then I started pulling him hard in third, he couldnt catch up I kept pullin and pullin..

than raced him on his boys shee that was bored .50 over with T5's beat him on that..

we where getting ready to leave and he said lets give it a run one more time but from a rolling start..

that was even worse for him, he really had no shot, from 2nd on I just kept pulling him..

Im only bored .20 over and Im ported..

15/40 gearing and +2 swingarm so I wasnt wheeling, really helps keeping the power down...

a good port job , pipes, +4 degree , filter and rejet will beet most 450's . when they put 600 kits with aftermarket heads thats a different story
