fmf goldseries and boost bottle.

i put a 290 main. and

before , it had good accel and the powerband was really strong.but bogged a bit when revving it when idle.and lagged when going into 4th 5th and 6th

now , the powerband isnt as strong , it doesnt lag in those high gears , but still bogs a bit when i gas it.

now , is that normal for banshees? to bog if you pin the throttle while idling? im used to my 450R revving up.

and if i slowly move it to like 1/4 while idling , it starts bogging and it stays at a steady rate but its bogging.

so , where is my powerband? lol.im running without an airbox lid. it did the same thign with it though.

i have jets 200, 280, 290 , and 300.

which should i try? 200 are stock , and 290 are in. so the qustion is , do i go down , or up?

try the 300s and make sure your needles are on the 4th clip. what is your elevation? also, scrap the boost bottle, it's pointless and gets in the way. put your crossover tube back on.

if your stil running your air box lid drop down to a 260, needle in stock position(third clip) your running fat and its loading up on ya that is the bog

im running owithout a airbox lid.

and i read the Pinned topics on this section about carbs n jetting. and i think now im running rich. it does kinda stutter a bit.

i think if i go to 280 itll be less rich right??

and my needle is where its always been , im guessing stock position? lol.

i turned my pilot out 1.4 turn because chase told me to. it helped a bit but not much.

if i pick up in 1st gear on a wheelie by popping clutch , it doesnt have the torque to keep going , i can pin the gas and itll go down and then speed up.without being in the powerband yet.

i put in the 280 main.and the screw on the side of the carbs is out about 2 1/4.

when i do donuts , in 1st gear its fine , in 2nd gear it stays at a REALY low RPM and wont go up unless i pop clutch or make a wider turn.

what should i set that screw at? is that the air screw?

you need to jet it properly, not while doing donuts. you need to do some WOT plug runs in 5th or 6th gear. Do some searching on plug chop or plug check and follow the procedures on how to test and read the plug. It sounds to me like it's bogging out a little from a lean condition but nobody here can tell you for sure and it's really hard when we don't know what your plug looks like.

try dropping to a 270 or 280. Or just do a chop and know for sure. you may be lean on the bottom though, try turning it in 1/4`s at a time to richen up the bottom end too.

im at 280.

in what direction would turning the screw richen it? clockwise? or counter clockwise

im at 280.

FUCK IT. this shee is pissing me off.it actually runs worse NOW than it did before with the stock jetting.

and i cant adjust the air screw to work right.

and it took me a million kicks to get it started.when it used to start 2nd kick

im thinking of dropping it off at a shop and telling them to deal with it

well, what are you fucking with? You haven't done a plug chop and given us the results. Have you done any main jet changes? We can't help you when you don't give us results after making changes.

Three rules for jetting:

1) Make ONLY one change at a time

2) Always write down the changes and results

3) Patience

If your going in there with a screwdriver and screwing with the air screw and then messing with this and not paying attention or keeping notes, you'll end up not knowing what you've done, how you got there and how it's so fucked up.

Start with the main jet. Get it dialed in with a 5th or 6th gear plug chop / run. Then, when you got that set, work on dialing in the needle. Start with the air screw turned out about 1.5 to 2 turns and then see how it does. It SHOULD need the choke to start on a cold motor and it SHOULD NOT need the choke to start with a warm motor. If you don't need the choke on a cold motor, your pilot's rich. If the choke helps on a warm motor, then it's lean. Play with the choke when it's sitting there idling to see how it reacts.

Step by step, one step at a time. Write things down and take it slow. Use the chart to help. Just for information, the screw is not really going to solve starting problems and bog problems when doing donuts, it's a very very fine tuning thing. Get the main set, then the needle and work on the pilot separately.

ok.

yea , i think my problem is patience.i came into this hoping for a quick job like on my 450R but sheeesh was I wrong.

im running the 280 main and the air screw out about 1 and 3/4's. it runs best like that . still has a bit of lag in lowend. but i am probably buying a bigger pilot to see if that helps , and im going to move the needle to the 4th clip.

so to do a plug chop , i have to go to the store and buy like 10 plugs?i gotta keep choppin plugs everytime i change something? or can i just LOOK at the plug?

put the lid back on without the snorkel

260 mains

stock needle/stock position

1.5 on the air screws

Good for 1500 feet and 70 degreess

-Right off FMF's website, I would follow these instructions and hang on, the boost bottle doesn't effect jetting.
