fastrthnu Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Ive always dealt with wiseco pistons, even in the cars, but I can get a good deal on these namuras. are they worth a crap. Im not going to be runnin more than 165 psi in this motor (most of the time ) and run em cool. its onlt about a $50 difference though not to get the forged. If I had the time, I was going to build a stroker, which I will, but I cant wait any longer to ride. My roller will be done next weekend, and I need to get the top of this thing done. Quote
NYUK Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 i have heard stories about them banging into coolheads. i would stick with what you know.skimping on an internal part could be costly in the long run. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I'll second that, I've never ran them, but I've heard enough bad things to keep me away. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 i dont have any first hand experiance with them but i have heard enough bad things about the skirts breaking that I'll just stick with weisco Quote

BigRed350x Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 They suck. I used them way back in the day on my 87. They shattered and fucked me out of a crank AND cylinders. They are cheap for a reason. Quote
fastrthnu Posted September 29, 2007 Author Report Posted September 29, 2007 Well, thats answered. Quote
NYUK Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 stick to wiseco,, truer words could not be spoken. theres always wiseco vs. pro x arguement also. i had a pro x crack from the dome all the way through the wrist pin. and another shatter into 1,000 pieces at 111 mph and still did 11 seconds at the end of a quarter mile run. needless to say it was all wiseco from there on out. duecebanshees Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Namura and pro-x pistons are cast pistons just like the stock ones. Wiseco pistons are forged pistons. The wiseco's seem to be a much more reliable piston in my opionion. I do have a friend that bought the namuras for the same reasons as referred to in previous posts ($$$). I do not think the cast pistons will take as much abuse as the forged wiseco's do. That is probably why we see as many broken skirts on cast pistons as we do. I have never had a wiseco skirt break off. I have melted a few down due to running them to lean. LOL But, that was my fault. I will personally stick with wiseco pistons. Hope you got so useful info for the posts. Quote
