jjdillon426
i just got a 4mil +5mm long rod crank and i was wondering what all i needed to put it in? i have a 4mm stroker plate and just ordered some stroker pistons. is that all i need? letsgetthisdone
the plate should only be 2mm thick.....and you'll need 795 series pistons for the longrod... the right way to do it would be to have your cylinder ported for the crank, have the 795 series pistons put in of rthe long rod, and then have a coolhead with stroker domes so you won't need the spacer plate at the bottom of the cylinders.. jjdillon426
well i got the plate from vito's and they said it was for a 4mm crank, and hotrods said that the pistons were for a longrod stroker so i didn't know. letsgetthisdone
i fthose companies say what they gave you is right, then run it. i'd just kick it over on the bench by hand to make sure the pistons don't hit the head and check you compression to see what kind of gas to run. oh and a leak down test. then if it blows up, its not on you... jjdillon426
here's the crank: http://www.hotrodsproducts.com/index.cfm?f...p;productid=121 here's the pistons: http://www.hotrodsproducts.com/index.cfm?f...p;productid=128 here's the stroker plate: http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...=200&page=1 now hotrods makes a stroker gasket kit for this crank, but its for an oem head and i have a cool head. so what i think is that the gasket kit acts just like the stroker plate so it should work, right? RZBansheeMan
Do not use the stroker plate or the thick gasket ! Get the 4mm "hot rods" long rod crank, and get the "795" pistons. Have your cylinders ported for the additional stroke and new engine displacement, and then get some stroker domes for your cool head. This is the proper way do a 4 mm stroker. jjdillon426
well the pistons already came in, but i am going to get the cut domes instead of the stroker plate. does anyone know where i can order a set?
Bansh-eman
they have them on ebay, or you can get them from almost any builder... you need to decide what type of fule you want to run and then figure out what size for your elevation would achieve that... Ducman
Do a search on how to meaure the squish. If you get some "off the shelf" stroker domes you will need to measure to make sure it is correct, between .030" and .035". Less than .028" and you may have detonation or interference issues more than .040 and you start loosing power. If you give NOSS the base gasket thickness he should be able to get you prety close, if you install the cylinders and measure the deck height (distance from top of cylinder to top of piston, piston will stick out above the cylinder = negative deck height) then NOSS can make you some domes that are right on the money.
